  1. Cease finishes 5 3 0 0 1 6, on 68 pitches.
  2. Rucker with the worst outing of his season. 5 8 6 5 1 2. Gave up a 3 run homer with 2 outs in the 5th. He's at 85 pitches, I'm guessing he's done.
  3. They'll bring back Mirotic and Felicio. I just hope they use the rest of their 20+ mill of cap room to acquire some picks and/or young guys.
  4. Yunior Perez was considered raw, despite his bonus. I don't think he's changing any minds after a stateside debut of 1 6 9 7 2 1.
  5. Hudson was decent, until the 5th. Wound up at 4.2 6 5 5 4 5. I really wish we had an in game report on him. Its like a switch came on and his K's, HR's, and BB's all rose. While he's still getting GB's too. My guess is he's probably lost some command/control, while throwing a bit harder. Just a guess though. Like the K's, hope he can corral the rest somewhat over the rest of the season.
  6. It would be amazing if this is Gar Forman's number. or maybe it's MJ's I do hope its Gar's. I feel confident they did lie to Jimmy.
  7. No sir. I want an extension. Leave the blown saves for Nats. I want to win too but I also would like to open the window of contention wider and bring in a guy with a live arm and 7 years of control ready to step into the rotation. We can then use other small chips to bolster the pen with a Strop/Duensing type of arm and move Carl into the closer spot and Monty back into the long role and trade for Gray (starting to accept it will cost Eloy) or Gausman or whoever they're most intent on. Then we have a real rotation moving forward and plenty of financial flexibility. I don't really want to have a 15-20m Closer but I definitely don't think the idea of extending him is a bad one. 1) Monty can stay in the rotation. 2) You're really devaluing the pen, in doing that. A Duensing or Strop addition really doesn't add much. 3) We've got financial flexibility now. You've got Jake, Miggy, Lackey, Davis, Jay, Uehara, Anderson, probably Rondon, and Duensing coming off the books. Even AFTER arb raises, you've got 60-65 mill to spend just to get to last years payroll. We've got room. I don't know what starter we'll add at the deadline, but we're going into the off season with plenty of money to spend.(even if there's not necessarily a ton to go buy). At any rate, we're plenty flexible now. Don't need to trade Davis to get even more so.
  8. If this was a computer sim game, then absolutely. But, its not. Selling off your closer is going to piss off everyone on the major league team. They deserve their leniency, after last year. You can't sell off a major piece for a team that's a game out of the division lead. It'd just send the wrong message to the players.
  9. I left Philly out, for some reason, and actually had those guys on my list of guys to target. They need lots of help, it wouldnt be that hard to find matches. Most I would just view as depth for next year though. But, I'd love to address that on some level now. Paxton would be cool and we've been linked to him before. I just don't see them trading him, because they never actually rebuild. I think Miranda is one of those guys that's held up by silly putty. I doubt there's much interest in him.
  10. So, here we are, a month from the deadline and everyone but the White Sox, Detroit, and Oakland is within 3 and a half games of the AL WC. And the leader happens to be Minnesota, who damn near no one thinks can hold on. In the NL, the sellers seem to be the Braves, who also are looking to add, the Marlins, Mets, and Philly in the East. In the Central, the Reds are sellers, with the Cardinals evidently looking into it. In the West, you've got the Giants and Padres..... That's a serious lack of sellers. Especially since some of them have very little to sell. The fact its so jumbled, I'd guess that only 1 or 2 of the rest of the AL teams join the sellers. My guesses would be Baltimore and Seattle. That said, I can see lots of teams just standing pat too. Hard to alienate your fan base if you're close, but that doesn't mean they'll be buying either...... Taking a look at who WILL be buying for sure.....You've got the Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, Astros, Nats, Cubs, Dodgers, Rockies, and Diamondbacks. The Braves seem intent on trying to add too, while also selling. But, its rare to actually see a team execute that. I can see the Twins and Brewers adding token pieces, due to not competing for a while..... What are these teams looking to add though? Yankees- Starting Pitching seems to be what they're after Red Sox- A 3B is on their list, as is Starting Pitching or a shutdown reliever Indians- No idea, I've not heard them connected to anything yet. Astros- Starting Pitching Nats- Shutdown reliever, maybe another good pen arm too Braves- Starting Pitching Cubs- Starting Pitching Dodgers- Starting Pitching, maybe a shutdown reliever too Diamondbacks- Haven't heard anything Rockies- Starting Pitching If you now look at the sellers, this is what they're likely moving..... Orioles- Wade Miley, maybe Kevin Gausman? Britton, now that he's coming back.....Would they consider moving Machado? White Sox- Holland, Quintana, Robertson seems a great bet to move. Detroit- Verlander? Justin Wilson, Alex Avila A's- Sonny Gray, Sean Doolittle, Jed Lowrie Seattle- Maybe Nick Vincent and Mark Rzepynski? Hard to find guys they'd move that teams will want. NL Sellers Braves- Selling off Garcia. Dickey or Colon if they can. Matt Adams too. Marlins- Maybe Ozuna? They'll move Ramos, Barraclough, David Phelps, cand probably Volquez from their rotation. Mets- Jay Bruce seems to be a goner. Neil Walker and Granderson too. Addison Reed from the pen. Can't see them moving anyone from their rotation. Reds- Feldman, Drew Storen out of the pen Giants- They'll move Nunez. Cueto is iffy because of the contract. Shark seems to be a possibility. Padres- Clayton Richard, Chacin, Cahill? Any of that group that can be moved. Brad Hand seems likely to be dealt too. So, that's my idea on how things are looking right now. As for the Cubs trying to find a cost controlled starter? It looks like Gray, Verlander, maybe Shark. Quintana will go elsewhere obviously. Unless they go with a Volquez or Miley type, just to fill a rotation spot next year. The Yanks, Dodgers, and Astros seem to be the teams we're competing with, along with the Braves, for these guys....And I'd say the Dodgers and Astros are pretty much in "if not now, then when?" mode..... Hopefully, another team or two decides to sell in the AL, but I don't see it.
  11. Austin Upshaw, our 13th Rounder(100k bonus) made his debut tonight for Arizona at 2B and hit 2 homers. On his 21st birthday. Pretty cool. Edit- horsefeathers, I'm off by a month. Not his horsefeathering birthday lol. I'll bet he's still getting drunk though, after that debut.
  12. On Ademan's double, why is his apparent teammate standing about 5 feet from second base when he gets there??? :-k Lol, no idea man.
  13. I just want Albertos and Marquez to stay healthy and log innings. They're results are secondary for methis season.
  14. Moreno finishes 5 3 5 4 4 7.
  15. Of course he's worth something. Future major leaguers have value. I think theres potentiallya huge discrepancy in where Longenhagen says hes at, versus where teams may say hes at. Conceivably, I'd be surprised if him and Zagunis don't EACH have more value than what Vogelbach and Blackburn do together. That said, the Monty deal(who we had talked about last year as a bullpen addition) seems like the perfect situation aligning. I really, really would love to find another move like that, I just doubt its out there again.
  16. Does he have any sort of trade value? Even if it's him and something like Zagunis for a Monty type pitcher? He SHOULD. But who knows? Longenhagen just said yesterday he's a bench bat. I'm a bit skeptical that he's seen or heard much on him so far this season. The kid put on some muscle and is OPSing around .875 in AA as a 22 year old.....That's got to raise some serious eyebrows..... The REAL problem though, is who IS the Montgomery this year?
  17. Positive note.....Burks with a HR and walk in his first 2 PA tonight.
  18. Hatch didn't get out of the 1st. .2 5 8 2 1 0, on 32 pitches.
  19. Hatch has given up 4 and only has one out in the 1st..... Moreno gave up 2 in the 1st. Yuck.
  20. Few things here that cross my mind.....1) Is this any different than an ABTY report? SportsMockery? Are they even remotely credible? 2) Why would Baltimore deal him to us and run the risk of being even more of a laughingstock, unless the price we'd pay is much higher? 3) I'd love to add him and I'd sell off any two, non-Eloy minor leaguers for him probably. 4) I don't know why, but I'm kind of expecting a cost controlled addition AND a cheap, grizzled veterany type of guy added as well.
  21. Morosi mentioned Avila.
