  1. Wilson is damn good. I'd be happy with Avila too. I'd LOVE JV. But, I can't see him being involved, if for no other reason than our starting pitching seems to have righted their ships somewhat and the whole clubhouse chemistry thing that I honestly think Theo gives some credence too. But, horsefeathers yeah, give me him over Lackey, if this thing gets expanded.
  2. I'd say zero. He'll clear waivers probably. But, Detroit would need to do a 180 on what his value is. Supposedly they think he's worth Javy or Happ lol.
  3. DiCaro mentioned Theo told him he was one of the few bloggers that got the plan. I know that had to make John happy.
  4. He has debates with Danny Ainge over who has the most unused collateral.
  5. Damn. He'd talk prospects forever, with anyone. Just a good dude. RIP. Was the best Cubs prospect writer by far.
  6. Candelario with 2 homers tonight. That can't hurt.
  7. That HAS to be Gray, right?
  8. Relatively decent chance Nats are still batting against the Brewers by our start time with them tomorrow.
  9. i still can't believe this stuff is real It didn't occur to me until now that it may be fake. But, he is from Milwaukee originally.
  10. Its sad he's a much better tweeter than a pitcher, at this point.
  11. I truly hate saying this.....But, my guess is we add a C and a RP, but not a SP. At least not until August. We got Q and my honest guess is they'll look at Horseteeths last pair of starts and give him some more chances until he struggles again. Monty and Butler are still options and Verlander will conceivably be available then too, if we need him.
  12. It kind of gives me hope for a major move honestly....MLB looks at him like that, Law looks at Alzolay as a top 60ish type.....If a team we're trying to deal with thinks that way, we can really still get something fun.
  13. Yeah, you can go over on occasion. The issue I'd wonder about is if they'd actually make moves, kind of counting on Heyward to opt out. Doesn't seem like their MO. As for Verlander, getting the Tigers to pay down some money erases my concern on his deal anyway. I'm fairly confident the FO isn't going to add a guy his age, without leaving some wiggle room, if he goes downhill quick.
  14. Didn't they try in the offseason? And he preferred playing it out?
  15. Top 5 in 2019 Cy Young.
  16. Won't nitpick much from TT, but I think Steele has had a very solid year and raised his profile a good bit. Crawford actually said he's still got mid rotation upside. Robinson has a Ryan Williams feel to me. And if Williams had stayed healthy, he'd likely be logging big league innings currently for someone. Its still early enough in the year for Assad to turn things around and I suspect he will. He's got very solid stuff and has 7 walks, 31 K's in 29 innings. I like him a lot. But currently? Yeah, Alzolay and Rucker are 1-2, Hatch is 3rd, Steele is 4th and Clifton is 5. I'm not including the draft picks or injured guys, and I guess I'm assuming Albertos is injured again. He'd be 4th otherwise.
  17. Nelson Velázquez, our HS 5th rounder, hit his first pro HR tonight.
  18. Its great he wanted to come to Chicago. And yeah, if we could have added him, I'd have been against rebuilding too..... Slight issue though.....The Bulls didn't have jack horsefeathers to trade for him.
  19. Keith Law: It’ll really depend more on the secondary stuff than on performance. Preston: What’s a realistic return for the Cubs if Candelario is the lead to a package of prospects? Certainly not high-impact RP like Britton, right? Keith Law: I don’t think so, but I’ve always been a little bearish on his defense. He can hit though. Jake: Do the Cubs have the pieces necessary to acquire Gray, Darvish or Verlander? Keith Law: I would not think so. Nick: Seems like this Adzolay has really picked it up this year. Think he’s a top 100 type, and where do you see his ceiling? Keith Law: Had I continued past ranking 50 names, he would have been in the next ten Ed: I had some sticker shock after the Quintana trade, and while I am feeling better about it (Q’s first start helped!) I’m still disappointed to see Cease go given the Cubs inability to develop pitching. Where did you have Cease fitting in with the pitchers in the Cubs’ latest draft? 3rd behind Little and Lange? Keith Law: Cease > Lange. I don’t think Lange is a starter in the long run. David: Is Jen-ho Tseng a realistic back of rotation piece in a year or 2 or just an org guy? Keith Law: Back of the rotation possibility, bullpen likely, much more than an org guy.
  20. Yeah, the systems at the point where you might as well just say, take any group of 2,3,4, or 5 and see what the best guy you can get in each scenario and make the best deal accordingly.
  21. Burks doesn't even get a "rising"? WTF LOL
