  1. I think it goes deeper than even that. Their wives are either sisters or best friends.
  2. https://twitter.com/billazbbphotog/status/878803693495230466 And a new guy emerges to follow, I guess.
  3. It didn't get any better, 4IP & 8ER. Awful start, but I don't understand the "again" reference?!? He hasn't had a game like this the entire year; I don't know if he had a game like this last year, either. Yeah, I may be being a bit tough on him. But, I was expecting him to grow into a consensus top 100 type and his walks are up quite a bit from last year. K's are down some too. He's definitely not gained value from where he was at the end of last year.
  4. My Sherlock skills tells me it ain't no coinkydink. Right, but what do you think it means? That he had a deal in place with the Cubs and the Yankees swooped in? Yeah, that's my guess.
  5. He might just be executing his pitches better. #development I was hoping for some added velo obviously. Or even just a damn velo report on him lol.
  6. If it's not coincidental, what would those dots lead to? My Sherlock skills tells me it ain't no coinkydink.
  7. And Clifton is [expletive] the bed again tonight. 3 6 6 6 2 2.
  8. Hudson goes 5 5 1 1 3 6, on 95 pitches.....5/1 GB/FB. I wonder if he's changing something? Over his last 4 starts, he's gone 19.1 innings, with 18 K's. Quite a difference from starting the year out with 16 K's in his first 39.1 innings.
  9. Is this hinting that a 29 YO DeGrom, 7 years removed from TJ surgery too, is a possible steal at that price? Woof No, that's you being you. I wanted a discussion that Clapp happily provided. You, on the other hand, act as you always do. Back to ignoring your insanity.
  10. Rucker is at 5 2 0 0 0 4 currently on 56 pitches. But, they've just gone into a rain delay, so he may be done.
  11. My point exactly. They're meaningless in the DSL too, so there's no reason for you to keep bringing it up as some sort of accomplishment.
  12. I don't think it'd be easy for the Mets to pull the plug on their pitching. They'll likely go down with the ship. I thought the package was interesting, because that was less than what I figured it take for them to pull the trigger on a deal. I don't truly feel comfortable giving up Eloy for anyone,(but we probably will have to at some point)however Cease, Candelario and basically ANY other prospect in the system(other than Amaya) isn't very scary at all. DeGrom has a scary history, but he is VERY good. He's not likely to be the type we'd go after, he's not likely to be available for that package, IMO either. There are teams that'd pay up quite a bit for him.
  13. I don't care about HR rates unless they're ungodly high. Ocampo gave up 2 in 14.2 EXST innings.
  14. Not giving up a homer in the DSL literally means nothing. Entire teams hit 20 a year there lol. Some fields don't even have fences and the OFers play so far back that there's no chance of hitting them.
  15. Connecting a few dots, although it could be coincidental obviously....Clarke Schmidt just signed with the Yankees for 2,184,300. Our EXACT slot at pick 30.
  16. Pitching, you've got Jose Albertos, who you know about. Brailyn Marquez is a projectable lefty that's still a bit raw. Was the top lefty pitching prospect in the J-2 2015 class(weak class admittedly). Faustino Carrera is another lefty worth paying attention to. But, he's not exciting. He knows how to pitch though. Not a lot of projection, but he was excellent in the DSL. Yunior Perez throws hard, as does Fauris Guerrero. Perez was a pretty big bonus guy too. Hitting, you've got Delvin Zinn. He's not much of a bat, but he can pick it at short. He's a bit older, so he needs to get off to a solid start. Yonathan Perlaza is a squatty 2B that got a mill plus bonus in 2015. Should be spraying line drives all over. May not stick at 2B. Jose Gutierrez is an athletic CF that was supposed to be very raw, but really wasn't. He's got pop, solid fielder, good all around prospect. He's another 2015 J-2 guy. And you've got Jonathan Sierra. Very raw. Big upside. Big dude. Should develop plenty of power. Cubs gave him 2.5 mill in 2015. Pure projection, but he's got a good eye, just needs to change his swing path. You'll also start seeing draftees show up at ANY point. Some will move quickly from Arizona to Eugene, maybe even SB.
  17. He's a horrifically, awful defender too by almost all accounts and they are going to have to decide to give him like 3-4 years at $12 mil+ a year after the season as well. Holy horsefeathers, do you look at NBA contracts? What the hells wrong with giving him THAT lol?
  18. Why is that? People are talking about giving up Eloy in a Sonny Gray package here. You don't think that's 1 for 1, do you? Since 2014, Gray has thrown 601 innings, to 568 for deGrom. Gray has been worth 8.5/8.7 WAR between FG and BR. DeGrom is at 13.6/13.2 over the same time. And deGrom has an extra year of control. Pitching costs.
  19. This is Jacob deGrom we're talking about, right? Uh yeah. Is he illegal to bring up or something in your opinion?
  20. The Mets are selling. I saw Ryan Davis bring up deGrom and wondered what it'd take to get him.....He didn't think he'd actually be available, but threw out Eloy, Cease, Candelario, and one other guy(unnamed) as a fictitional package....Personally, I doubt that'd come close honestly, since there's no real reason for them to move him. But, its an interesting thought anyway.
  21. Erling Moreno goes 6 5 3 0 3 2, on 84 pitches. Pretty efficient. With a 12/0 GB/FB ratio. I'm so curious what his velo is at right now. My guess is its his typical 90-94, but Arguello bringing up 98 earlier this spring, has kept me wondering.....At any rate, he's having a pretty solid start to his season as a 20 year old in full season ball. His stock is definitely on the way up.
  22. Sorry to quote myself but: [tweet] [/tweet]
  23. And yeah, its frustrating as hell seeing these guys pitch in the CWS, especially at 110+ pitches....
  24. Yeah, I agree with Craig....Its definitely intriguing that we gave Abbott that much. We obviously valued him as a true 2nd rounder. If we get Estrada as a 950k-1M type, that's cool too. I think I'm more intrigued that we're giving Abbott that much, than I am if Estrada is getting a bit less than I'd have thought.....
  25. Obviously let things play out, see if the recent surge from Russell can continue, or if Zo or Kyle come back stronger than ever, but as it stands, this team has 2 above average hitters and a rookie enjoying a lot of early success. The young guys have been so up and down. I'd love to have another 120+ wRC+ bat in the lineup. For the sake of curiosity, what would you guys expect Maybin to cost? He's a rental, so I'd guess you could get him with Zagunis, Caratini, or Candelario as a lead piece. That may be all it'd take actually. If not, add in a pitching prospect like Hudson, Moreno, or Assad.....Obviously a total guess, but a top 200 prospect and a guy in the 15-25 range of a system is my gut feeling. That said, I don't truly see a need for him. If we get our group healthy and Schwarber comes back, we're going to have a rough enough time finding AB's for what we have.
