  1. not to mention, that right now anyway, he's the best guy on the market. In a few days, either of Greinke, Hamels, or surprise guys like Annibal Sanchez or Scott Shields could clutter the market.
  2. Billingsley has inflammation of the elbow flexor tendon. More tests to come tomorrow. Needless to say, that doesn't sound like good news for him.
  3. Law was just asked chances Baez sticks at SS and said at least 30%. I take it, thay's much more than he would have said previously.
  4. Yeah, Rondon walks more than a few guys. I've never seen him pitch, but I've heard conditioning could be an issue. His profile on milb says he's 190, so I have no idea as to whether that was his weight 5 years ago or not. Either way, he's probably considered a top 200ish prospect. Garcia may be in that range too. By the way, just because I'm bringing them up, does NOT mean I want either of them as a 1st piece for Dempster or a 2nd piece for Garza. Another borderline interesting guy they've got is Adam Wilk. Lefty, excellent control, but not sure whether his stuff translates in the majors. But he's been solid in AAA for basically 2 years now. His major league numbers have been swful, albeit very small sample size.
  5. What if Demp and Barney were packaged to Detroit? Do you think there would be any chance (perhaps with the addition of a third piece) we could get Crosby and Castellanos? I'm just not seeing much outside of Turner/Smyly/Crosby/Castellanos that are all that appealing. no, not even close. Garza may be able to get us Castellanos, but I have my doubts we'd get much else. Maybe Crosby, if we're lucky. Detroit has 2 other guys that are worth mentioning though. Avi Garcia is a very toolsy OFer that's kind of put it together this year. At least moreso than previously. I think he's 20 and just got moved up to AA. Bruce Rondon is a closer prospect that hits triple digits and has been dominant. I think he's in AA as well.
  6. With him and Asik, they may have really screwed themselves in the Howard chase. Did the time frame expire for the Bulls not to match the Rockets offer sheet on Asik? No. I don't think it's even being sent over until after the Lin deal is official.
  7. No idea as to why Alcantara's out. but nothing will surprise me as far as the type of deals we make either. We could send off a solid prospect or two, with our major leaguers, to get the guys we really want back. Doubt it's the case here, since he's missed 3 games, but if I had to bet, I think we'll send a few of our own guys off over the next couple of weeks.
  8. Crosby would be fine as a 1st piece. He'd take over as our reigning top pitching prospect, if just for a bit. He's probably top 150ish or so overall. Bigtime stuff too.
  9. Just a subtle, everyday reminder that his rubber arm is available.
  10. Dempster and Russell for Gould, Tolleson, and Rubby. Make it happen.
  11. Dempster was doing Dr. Evil and Fat Bastard impressions on BBTN a little while ago.
  12. Oh boy.......Billingsley scratched, due to arm tenderness.
  13. Castellanos is playing RF currently in AA, my guess is the Tigers bring him up within a month. I like Olt a lot, but he's actually a year, to the day, older than Vitters.
  14. Yeah, Olt or Castellanos would be in a Garza deal, if we're even that lucky. A guy like Edward Salcedo is a Braves 3B prospect that could be in play for Dempster. Maybe, Boston could put Garin Cecchini out there, but I seriously doubt it, in a Dempster deal.
  15. Yes, because Starling Marte and Alan Hansen aren't top 100 prospects on their own. Research before posting.
  16. Hammel's out a month. Be nice if Baltimore went into panic mode. Santos is out for the year for Toronto, they need bullpen help now too.
  17. Theo went to Barnes and Noble yesterday, bought up the supply of Baseball America Prospect Handbooks, is passing them out at Monday mornings sales meeting and will hold a quiz on Friday.
  18. .372/.419/.782/1.201 Well, Law must be right. No way he's ready to be promoted with an OPS under 1.500.
  19. Just curious, if you could get Travis Snider for Soriano, with us picking up 90% of the contract, do you pull the trigger?
  20. Vogelbach with a two run double now. Candelario got in and went 0-2 at Boise, guess Dong Yub Kim left the game early.
  21. Vogelbach with a two run single.
  22. Raisin's quick. Haha. Just good timing. Damn. You even got that before I edited it.
  23. Exactly, if anything, it could raise the question if they think he's long for 3rd. But they may think his bat could be fine for LF.
