Probably so, but I could see them wanting a package, instead of Teheran and probably not much else. Plus, he's really been pitching bad. Worse than bad.

I see Greinke going to Atlanta or Texas. They'll be in a bidding war for him. Hopefully Atlanta loses.

Wake me up when you guys(the ones I like their posts and learn from on occasion) see Colvin as a true success and worth getting pissed over. We kicked ass in the Marshall trade, killed the Pads in the Rizzo deal, and if we "lose" a deal involving players that NONE are or were going to be longtime contributors to ANY club, then who gives a flying [expletive]?

Can't see any scenario where Maholm gets us Delgado. Shocked still that Dempster could have.

I think I'd want Hellweg in the deal too. Personally, I still think Richatds winds up more as a backend type. I think I just like packages from other teams more than them, for some reason.

I think it'll be around that, but I think it'll change every year, because it's based on the average of the top 120 salaries in MLB each year.

I like Amaya a lot, but I agree with NamedafterMaddux. He's 4th for me on Boise. My current top 10 goes Baez, Soler, Almora, Brett, Vitters, Candelario, Szczur, Alcantara, P Johnson, and Vogelbach. With the idea that Johnson moves quickly next year. -
That's a great idea, but my guess is it'd depend on who else was out there without the tender. If Marcum, McCarthy, maybe even an Ervin Santana was out there, I'd think they'd prefer that direction and having the big draft budget and the flexibility that goes with it.

There's absolutely zero chance the Dodgers would include Lee for Dempster, given that the Cubs are in an even weaker position than they were before Dempster kneecapped them. Frankly I think it's extremely unlikely they'd include Webster. Probably Gould or bust, in which case I'd keep Dempster and make him refuse a qualifying offer. There's a really high likelihood that Gould is better than anyone they'd get with a supplemental pick. Gould was a supplemental rounder himself. But we won't be getting a pick for Dempster und er r any circumstance. I could see myself forgetting about Delgado, if we got Webster AND Gould for Dempster, which is pretty unlikely, to say the least. Well, there is a circumstance in which we'd get a pick. It's just unlikely to happen. Sure, just can't see a team punting their allotment for Dempster. I guess it's possible a team picking INSIDE the top 10 could do it and lose their 2nd rounder. Still hard to even see thst though.

Not really. I was listing those teams for Garza, because he'd be the biggest name left. But there's plenty of other backend types out there. Vargas, Nolasco, Liriano, and Blanton, off the top of my head. I figure there's more too. As well as Maholm has pitched, I'd wonder with a relatively high asking price, if teams wouldn't settle for one of those other guys. With his option next year, he holds some value, to us and other teams as well. My guess is we want a similar package that Houston just got for Wandy. And I could see teams shying away and taking one of those guys, with a lesser price, because the results going forward could be the same.

Texas needs to get Greinke, in my opinion. Miami probably needs to keep Johnson. Let Anaheim go get Shields. Those things happen and we've got leverage again with LA. Atlanta comes back to the table and LA would need to ante up. Either way, my guess is Dempster accepts a trade to either, because his image has been damaged here, to the point I think he probably wants out now. If those things happen, it also leaves one of those two in play on Garza(if he pitches Monday), along with Boston, Toronto, Washington, Baltimore, and the Cards.

Not that I think this is an option for Dempster, but thinking more about the qualifying offer, I'm wondering if it opens things up to s sign and trade type situation? I'll use Napoli as an example here. Texas gives him the tender, doesn't really want to keep him, but figures someone will sign him. No one does, so he signs the tender(unsure when or if there's a deadline to sign it). I wonder if the player is immediately tradeable then? A team could then trade for him conceivably(if the tender acts as an option that was picked up) and give up whatever for the player, without losing their 1st rounder or draft budget and also negotiate the extension, in the process. I think this could be a possible loophole to still get guys trapped under the tender a longterm deal and also compensate the team losing the player as well.

My guess is the next domino to fall is Dodgers trading Zach Lee, Webster, and more to the Dodgers for Cliff Lee and Pence.

Again, Jersey's got it right on Garza. Sure, we may get offers, but probably not what we'd see if he pitches on Monday and pitches well. It's a legit concern when trading away multiple solid prospects for a guy that may miss more time. We'll see how his throwing session goes on Friday, I guess that'll tell whether he pitches Monday or not.

first time ever? That's harsh. I don't know man. It seems that way. Actually, Bears related stuff, we see the same on, for the most part. Debating is fun though.

And for the first time ever, I believe, I'm definitely in agreeance with Jersey on Garza: If I'm a GM, no way do I give up a haul for a guy who hasn't pitched since his "injury". Too close to the elbow to take a huge risk on. May be different if he were pitching better throughout the year.
