  1. The problem with any of those guys is they're covering 30 different teams systems. We're following one. Good example is Sickels comment on Torreyes today on his midseason report. Said he needs to hit better if he's going to have a chance or something to that effect. Doesn't take into account he's 19 and holding his own, despite horrible luck in High A ball, in a pitchers league.
  2. These analysts have maintained the same projections for him despite his year at iowa. Oh and he's 22 Oh, I'm aware. Not saying I agree with them. But, it's like they've gathered around to form a canned answer, in response to him.
  3. Segura, Ariel Pena, and John Hellweg. Solid return.
  4. Good. Now, if Texas takes Johnson, it leaves Shields and our guys. With the Orioles, White Sox, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Braves, Dodgers, and Cards looking.
  5. According to any analyst that's been asked about him, they think he's league averagish offensively with a glove that's not good enough to stick at 3B.
  6. So they'll want to move Baez? Baez certainly has a huge upside.
  7. I've got Blackburn and Underwood between 15-20 right now. Trying to figure out where to slot Paniagua is hard, hope some info comes out on him that we don't know. The hard part right now is tryig to rank Wells, Rosario, and Whitenack. Hopefully, it's going to be easier for Rosario, but we haven't heard a thing, so that's probably not good.
  8. If true, we've probably got to wait out Atlanta on Greinke at this point. Could easily just be damage control, trying to get the Dodgers to up their offer.
  9. The rest of the CBA for signing FA probably doesn't change. If the Dodgers signed 2 guys, they'd forfeit their 1st AND 2nd rounders. Which actually puts a guy like Dempster back into play possibly as far as netting us a pick. If a team is willing to punt their 1st rounder, I'd say it'd be much easier to go ahead and punt their 2nd as well. I guess it's possible a couple of teams could do that. At any rate, that's definitely the best chance of Dempster actually netting us a pick. No idea how many FA a team is willing to sign like that now. I think the old rule only allowed you to sign 3 type A's, so I guess it'd probably stay the same.
  10. Phil Rogers may have brought up his first good point ever just now. If Garza's MRI is clean, as it's said to have been, a team could still trade for him and put him through the physical, if something shows up, then they can back out. Which means a team probably would need to trade for him and get this done soon, giving them 48 hours or so to go in another direction, if they need to.
  11. These guys wanted to maximize what few assets we have that are tradable. With that, comes risk, if you're holding out for a larger package. I love our FO, but the risk factor has blown up in their faces here. Dempster? Our guys did a great job with him and he screwed us basically. But Garza? Probably should have been dealt this past offseason. No clue what was on the table, but it's definitely better than what's going to be at this point or in the offseason.
  12. Fluid in Garza's tricep. Will NOT pitch Monday. [expletive] this [expletive].
  13. Screw it. It's a meatball situation for me. Both you guys are right, can't deny it.
  14. If I'm Atlanta, I don't want Dempster at this point. He didn't want to be there, so my mindset as them, would simply be "screw him". They've got the assets to get someone else and I think that's what they'll do.
  15. My honest guess is we're asking for Webster and Gould right now.
  16. We must not be extremely close to a deal with the Dodgers. Webster pitched tonight. Went 6, gave up 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 earned, 5 walks, and 4 K's. Nice enough line, other than the walks.
  17. I'm not sure they even have enough to get HIM. I mean, I guess they do, but damn, their system sucks.
  18. We're not in THAT bad of a spot here, the more I've thought about it. Dodgers want a pitcher and we've got one that evidently only wants to be there. Sounds bad. Until you realize the Dodgers are very unlikely to outbid a team like Texas for Greinke. And can't, if Texas decides they really want him. Josh Johnson? Toronto likes him a lot, among others. Again, Dodgers would have to gut their system to get him and Toronto could easily beat their offer, even if they did. 3rd option is Garza. Who may be hurt, but we've got other teams on anyway. Then comes Dempster. Relatively low asking price, best season of anyone being mentioned AND he wants to be there. Yeah, Dodgers can take a lesser pitcher and pay the same price they would for Dempster, or maybe even more, for Shields(struggling his ass off), Liriano, Nolasco, or some other lower end guy. But they want a pitcher. Dempster's their best fit and it's not going to gut their system. They'll give us a decent package, in the end, because of these things.
  19. Heyman says Dodgers prefer Garza, want to give up relievers for Dempster. Again, more posturing.
  20. Marlin just backed up a CubsDen report that the Dodgers are offering one of Reed or Webster, straight up for Dempster, or Gould plus an extra piece or two.
  21. Well, he has to pass a physical in order for the trade to go through. I wouldn't do it, but if a team that loses out on Greinke, Dempster, maybe Shields and Johnson really wants a potential difference maker, he's about all that's left. I'd still think a team would want more assurance personally, but I guess it's POSSIBLE at least.
  22. Marlin has a bad feeling Garza won't pitch on Monday. He also called it a noninjury, although it's possible I'm reading too much into that part of it.
