  1. If we're going to pay 90% of Sori's contract, we better get some sort of actual value back in return. He's having a damn solid season.
  2. I asked Bruce on Twitter chances of a Garze trade and he responded with as minor as the injury is, it's still not highly likely.
  3. Raging douche alert. Love it. As long as other teams don't kill him.
  4. BTW, Rangers package for Greinke began with Buckel and Grimm. Didn't even want to include Perez, so I'd say they're not what we're looking for out of Garza.
  5. Theo and Jed have decided they'll never give out a NTC, instead they give out We'll trade you whenever the [expletive] we want clauses.
  6. And just as I suspected, that trade looks dumber now than when I saw it yesterday.
  7. I'm more worried about him stopping a trade altogether, than I am about a package right now. If he's dealt, it won't be as good as we originally got, but it'll keep us appeased.
  8. Again, I think Texas is thinking better pitcher than Garza, or just putting one of their pen arms back in the rotation. Which is understandable. That said, if we were trying to get Olt included in a deal with them, adding guys with little to know value isn't getting it done. We'd have to send them some minor leaguers back as well. No reason to bother coming up with who, but that's the way you'd conceivably do it. Not adding in spare parts or salary dumps.
  9. He also threw today, throws off a mound on Monday and his wife gives birth Tuesday.
  10. With a lot less value than he has currently. The only way his value over the offseason approaches what it is right now, is if he pitches great the rest of the season.
  11. I hate saying it, but I can't see Garza bringing Olt. I read somewhere that Texas wants a top end guy and don't view Garza as one at this point. I'm hoping they get Johnson, Shields stays put and Boston keeps their guys, because they're fading fast. If those things happen, I think we'll get a good return on both our guys.
  12. Sure, the return now doesn't match up. But that's because he's a rental now, instead of a guy with some years of control, when the Brewers traded for him.
  13. Javy's going to be a top 20 guy by the end of the year.
  14. That's a big plus for us. I like Johnson a ton, but who's giving up 3 prime pieces for him? Heck, there aren't many organizations that can offer three prime pieces. Now, let's hope for some luck on Dempster and the Braves, and then see if the Dodgers/Rangers (and maybe the Blue Jays) can bid up Garza. Granted, Garza's health situation right now doesn't help, but let's hope. Red Sox and Cards as well. They're doing something, even though I'm quite sure they'll be more conservative with us, than other teams, for obvious reasons.
  15. Oh, and Lindblom is a very good bullpen arm, by the way.
  16. [expletive] that. A bullpen arm? No [expletive] thank you. Not unless Gould or Webster is coming along too.
  17. Rangers evidently aren't going after Johnson, according to Heyman.
  18. The only player the Rangers part with Profar for on the Marlins is Stanton. Olt and Perez or Buckel is a very solid return for Johnson, better than what anyone else will offer(or even can). It leaves Shields, who I hope stays put or winds up anywhere other than Atlanta or LA. Honestly though, he's been awful. I could actually see a team take a chance on Garza's injury, just as easily as taking a chance on him.
  19. Nah, I see where you guys are coming from. The upside of the package the Brewers just got is a league average SS, a 2, and a back end starter. The downside though, could be an often injured 2B, a middle reliever, and a guy who never sniffs the majors(who also is the guy with 2 upside). I would prefer Delgado to the package of those guys, but I see where it's considered a solid return.
  20. Duquette had a funny statement today, basically saying teams ask them about whether Bundy or Machado is available, when told no, they hang up and call the other 29 teams.
  21. I hate to say it, but I'm getting optimistic again that we may be able to deal him anyway.
  22. Really? I think that's a pretty piss poor return for an ace like Greinke, even a rental. I'm not nearly as high on Segura as many, I guess. Hellweg and Pena seem ... decent, but nothing exceptional. Put it another way - I think they got 3 B, B- types, and for an ace like Greinke, I think this is an absolute steal for the Angels to not have to give up Cowart or Richards. Edit: I know they wanted to shoot for a middle infielder in this trade, and it's possible Segura was the best they could get, but still ... I just don't think this is a good return, even accounting for that factor. I think I probably like Hellweg more than you. That said, if given the choice, I'd take Delgado over that package myself. But I think we're in the minority there, as the strength in numbers approach seems to be what analysts see being better, unless a true elite guy is involved. Which Delgado is not.
  23. He's kind of solid at everything, but not elite at anything. Would Orlando Cabrera be a good comp? Nah, Cabrera was excellent defensively, Segura's better off at 2B and has much better plate discipline than Cabrera did. To me, Hellweg is the main piece. Big arm, tons of risk, but bigtime upside.
  24. He's kind of solid at everything, but not elite at anything.
