  1. If Stanek has had a quality start this year, I've missed it. It wouldn't surprise me if Anderson and Gray pass him up soon.
  2. Damn, Shefter just reported Dunta Robinson already has a 3 year deal with the Chiefs.
  3. Ziomek with 2 hits allowed and 10 K's thru 7.
  4. I'm kinda sorta inching toward his bandwagon. I love the fact that he's so close to ready. If I'm going to be drafting a pitcher, I want one who may be 22 and injury-free before he makes his first pro appearance. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I've been wanting Manaea to fall to 2, but Appel may be better, has less risk(overuse being his main concern in my mind) and could possibly be a league average MLB starter as early as 2014. With plenty of upside from there.
  5. Tom Windle threw a no-no with 8K's for Minnesota tonight. Thats a guy I'd like for us to nab in the 2nd.
  6. Appel thru 4: 1 hit and 8 K's. Kubitza with 11K's in under 7 innings today. Emanuel pitched a shutout for UNC. Neither throws all that hard, but both could be very solid 4/5 types, and probably move quickly thru the minors. Wonder if we stray whatsoever from the hard throwing types this year?
  7. Part of me wonders if the guys we're trying to restructure are waiting for Urlacher to be resigned before they do it. Either way, I'm hopeful we'll get one announcement from the team saying we've redone a few contracts that gives us 10 mill or so of cap room. As far as Moore goes, he's solid. I'd be fine with him, but I really want a LT somehow in FA, so we know more of what we've got than drafting Fluker or someone and hoping it pans out.
  8. [expletive]. Confused Rodon with Rondon. Nothing to see here.
  9. I would value Smyly more than Porcello personally. That said, if I were them, I wouldn't trade either. Its not like you won't need a 6th SP. I would trade Crosby, maybe Jake Thompson, maybe the comp pick that they have(not neccessarily all 3) for the best reliever it'd buy. They're definitely in win-now mode.
  10. Javy was actually 2-2 today. Soler walked in his only PA as well.
  11. Screw it. Time to threaten the move. Tell Tunney to kiss your ass, Tom.
  12. Villanueva hit a HR today. Javy had a double off the wall.
  13. My main point is the years of control, the future salary of Porcello(especially in years we truly expect to contend), makes Olt more attractive for us moving forward. To me, even after you acknowledge Olts' warts.
  14. Will Porcello start K'ing more guys all of a sudden? If not, I think he basically is what he is. A decent GB pitcher. That is already pricey and only has 2 years of control left, before he'll be getting 10+ mill a year. I don't want to invest that in him, I prefer someone better. Olt has warts, but also has 6 years of control of likely the same positional value Porcello has. We have a true need at 3B currently as well. To me, he's a better longterm possible fit than Porcello is.
  15. Really? I'm not even THAT high on him, but I do think he's got a very solid chance of being an .800ish OPS, good glove type, at 3rd. Personally, I see little trade value in Marmol, Zych has 8th inning potential, and Porcello is a mid rotation guy at most. Adding Villanueva or Candelario(preferrably Villanueva) would hurt somewhat, but I think we'd fill a position longterm and not deplete much of anything in the process. The K rate is alarming, but it doesn't appear to be talked about with him as much as Brett's was(is), so maybe it's an easier correction?
  16. Couple of comments about placement: Don't think this means anything on Rosario personally. Was hurt, even if healthy, I could see him in Kane County to start. Wells seems different to me, since he's likely to be fast tracked a bit, if he in fact does need to be added to the 40 man at some point in 2013. I think the rumblings on Paniagua being held back in EXST are looking realistic now, or else he likely would have been in Tennessee's initial list. I could see them taking it really slow this spring with him, then putting him in Daytona or Tennessee for the 2nd half. Fascinating placement of Johnson, in my mind. To me, this says Daytona is the low end of where he'll be starting the year off, when it seemed like the absolute high end, before this came out. They must be extremely pleased with him. Rivero at Tennesse is surprising. One because he's signed, two, because the reports sound as if he could contribute soon. Guess they don't want to push him, ala Paniagua.
  17. Add Sam Baker and Jared Cook. Keep Urlacher, Roach, Idonije, McCown, and Louis. Draft OG and WR in 1-2. Use remaining picks on OLB, QB, and CB. Cut Hester and Davis. Extend Jennings and Tillman. Restructure Bennett, Spaeth, Briggs, and Bush. Realistic?
  18. Or Stewart. I could see Valbuena as the everyday 3B, with a bench of Navarro, Bogusevic, Lilkibridge, Hairston, and Sappelt.
  19. Yeah, its odd no one's reported it. Assuming the initial reports were correct anyway. I guess its at least possible that he's 28 and throws upper 80's. But if the reports are true, its a hell of an under the radar signing thats been missed somehow.
  20. No clue. I had asked Badler about him months ago and he said teams had put him on the backburner. Maybe his workouts lacked? No idea, but I'm very surprised it hasn't been broken by anyone, unless it just happened while Badler's been doing the WBC thing.
  21. Looks like AZPhil broke some news there, by the way. We evidently signed Armando Rivero, a 23 year old RHP out of Cuba. I don't remember a ton about the guy, but I think Badler had him 4th on a list of 5 Cubans that had defected last year. Likely a reliever, but throws up to 98. My guess is we likely spent a couple mill to get him.
  22. Whats wrong with that? We don't even get Porcello. It winds up Marmol, Zych, and one of Villanueva/Candelario for Olt. I like the hell out of it. And seems realistic.
  23. [expletive], nevermind. Fake Rosenthal account, retweeted by Jason LaCanfora.
  24. Where is he expected to go? Top 5, 10? Or is he not that good of a prospect? I've only heard his name a few times and don't know anything about him. Comes from very small area, got iverhyped a ton evidently. There were whispers he was a once in a generation type player. After more looks though, he's not even a first round talent. My guess is he gets left off some top 100 draft lists.
