    Shark is an All Star. Finishes with 13 wins, 220 K's, and a 2.98 ERA. Garza is ineffective, leaving us to question using the qualifier on him next year. We do. He declines, no one bites, and we get him back at 1/10 for 2014. Baker starts off slow, isn't dealt at deadline, and comes on strong. We use the tag on him as well and a second division team with a protected pick uses their 2nd on him. Feldman and Villanueva are basic 4/5 guys. Wood puts up a .325 ERA in the 1st half and is dealt for a surprisingly good return over the ASB. Vizcaino doesn't have command back this year, no major league starts, start thinking he's a pen arm, but will have offseason and next spring to change opinions.

    Castillo goes .274/.331/.483. Soriano is injury plagued and untradeable in July. Castro and Rizzo both take steps forward. Brett comes up in June(DeJesus dealt) and goes .238/.318/.446 with a 26% K rate. Lake comes up in August and puts up a,line close to Vitters did last year, with more K's. Barney hits 11 HR. Schierholtz and Hairston combine for an .825 OPS. 3B is a black hole all season.

    Any chance of letting PriortoTheo back? He did a damn good job on the draft and did it quick.

    If one of Shark, E-Jax, Feldman, Wood, or Villanueva goes down, who's next in line? Raley, Rusin, Bowden probably?

    Garza's still feeling strain. Starts year on DL. Out til May as he's being shut down. Shark OD starter. Wood and Villanueva in rotation.

    Frazier seems like his stock is going up considerably, while Meadows appears as if his is dropping a bit. I definitely think Frazier will be in serious consideration for Houston and us.

    Well, thats not exactly something they'll announce. I think Abreu is the best player down there, but considering his size and position, its not likely we'd have an interest in him anyway. Not sure if he can still play OF or not.

    Bruno and Trey Martin are on the roster tomorrow as well. Set your DVR's, game will be televised sometime Monday morning on the MLBN.

    Almora's playing as well. Same with DeVoss. Looks like the minor leaguers get the road half of the double header tomorrow.

    Thru 7, he's given up 3 hits, 3 walks, a run, and K'd 16. Done for the day.

    Brett also had a sac fly. So counting intrasquad games, he's had 3K's in 16 plate appearances. Lake was 1-1 today as well. Tomorrow should be VERY interesting, Vogelbach gets to play in the MLB game. Not sure who else may get a shot.

    Yeah, its good to know that at least we've got an FO thats had this very debate and has numbers and odds on all this stuff.

    There have been insinuations from beat writers it was a pitcher that went to Minnesota in the Ben Revere deal. So, that'd be Vance Worley or Trevor May. If it was one of them AND Brown, I'd be wishing we had pulled the trigger. My guess is it was May and scraps, which isn't enough to make me upset. I'd love to get Jesse Biddle from them, but its too much of a return. Although, I can easiky see our group holding firm on him being in the deal.

    To me, a factor in picking 2nd is we have lots of leverage with whoever we pick. It's a million dollar discrepancy from 2nd to 3rd. If we're negotiating, just hold it over the players head a bit and you should be able to sign your guy at least a tad under slot. At 3, if the team used their entire 3rd pick allotment and the overslot for their entire draft, its still coming up around 500k short of just our 2nd pick allotment. It should be a way to get our guy to agree very early, because it won't be like Almora. Who could have used the "I can possibly make 3 mill more approach" by going to college. Its one million at this pick and I doubt the risk outweighs the reward.

    Tony Rizzotti K'd 10 in 7 shutout innings today. He'd be a very solid guy in the 2nd, again, if he hasn't worked his way past that.

    I'll say this though: The quantity approach is likely the best way, if you have enough space on your rosters to continually do it. If we took 10 guys at 400k and another 4 at 200k, it'd be very interesting to see the results. Of course, it comes down to supply and demand and its not likely we coukd basically corner that market.

    I don't really like the idea of giving millions to 16 year old pitchers, but I'm OK with drafting HS pitchers in the 1st round, so I guess my age cutoff is 17-18ish. Michael Ynoa sticks in my mind as a 16 year old and the pitfalls that come with huge money on kids that young. As for IFA strategy- I love what path we took in 2012. Huge ceiling, older pitcher, high ceiling, relatively high floor middle infielder(as high a floor as a 16 can have anyway) and lots of projection guys after that. With close to 5 mill to spend, I'm hoping we get 3 seven figure types(and a 500k type or 2) or 2, with 3-4 500k types, to go along with the projectability guys that come cheaper.

    Has he restructured as a Bear? If so, I stand corrected. Didn't think he did. Yeah, he did in 2011.

    I thought I read somewhere it wasn't likely he'd be apt to do it again. May have just been speculation though.

    Love Ziomek, but that was against pretty weak competition. At any rate, he's pitched himself out of our range. He's likely a top 30 pick right now, I'd think.
