  1. Rusin has given up one run in 13 innings. Have to think he's getting the 2nd lefty out of the pen spot, at this point.
  2. Michael Bennett to the Seahawks for 1/5. Damn.
  3. Beat writer extraordinaire Jesse Rogers just mistook Brett Jackson for Josh Vitters while batting and then again after Brett stole second.
  4. I'm a pretty big Rose fan, but he's certainly not going to be accused of being intelligent by anyone. Part 2 is harder to answer. A lot of layers there? Did he tell Reggie to speak up? Is he sitting out to prove a point? None of us truly know.(my feeling is yes, to both) Part 3? Ties into part 2 somewhat, but my answer changes to no. I think its a copout and an excuse to sit out, because he's not a 100%, during what he feels is a lost season. It's just a different type of athlete than it used to be. MJ would have been back the day he was cleared. Now, Adidas has as much say with Derrick as the Bulls do, arguably more. Personally, I wouldn't question his mentality though, I just think its a product of the times. The gist of this discussion though: I side with N&G, he's medically cleared-he should be out there. I'd just call him selfish and leave it at that, instead of digging deeper.
  5. Cliff Avril to Seattle is huge for them. And again, the contract was surpringly weak. 2/15 is all he could get, with plenty of teams having tons of cap space? The players union screwed themselves again, the money being spent so far has been surprisingly low.
  6. Raw, I definitely get what you're saying. We'll likely be in cap hell 2-3 years from now, unless we hit big on some draft picks. As far as the rest of this offseason goes, I suspect Campbell or McCown returns as our 2nd QB, keep Idonije on a 2 year deal, we keep one of Louis or Scott, and one of Urlacher or Roach and one of Bowman or Hayden.. I think we'll trade down in the draft, if possible, and draft an OG, speedy WR, and a LB, in the 1st 3 rounds.(if we can pick up an extra top 3 round pick). After that, a D-Lineman and either a developmental QB or possibly a CB. At any rate, Cutler has it much, much better now than he had it prior to yesterday. I'd love to still see an extension to Tillman. Kind of figure its the wrong time to extend Jennings honestly. A longterm deal for Melton would be nice as well. If those 2 things could happen relatively soon, maybe it'd give us enough room to add Booth or Moore.
  7. Had 7.01 mill in cap room, Bushrod and Bennett count 4.95 this year and cutting Davis, Spaeth, and Toeiania(sp) saves us 5.395. So currently, we've got 7.401 mill still to spend. That counts draft choices, though 3 mill likely covers them. Jensen just announced we've got 5.6 mill, but I'm using his numbers individually. Even though Emery mentioned we wouldn't be getting a starting OG in FA, I'm fairly optimistic we CAN, if we find someone we really want. Even without doing a bunch of restructures/extensions.
  8. Bennett got 4/20, 9 guaranteed. Cap number is 1.94.
  9. Count me in as willing to take another team, if needed.
  10. Welker to the Broncos for 2/12? Come the [expletive] on. The Pats wouldn't give him THAT?
  11. The damn Youtube clip alone is worth the 20 mill.
  12. I doubt he's tradeable, my guess is he'd become our swing tackle, which would be fine. He doesn't make enough money to where it'd make sense to cut him either.
  13. Maples threw today and looked decent, according to AZPhil, so thats positive news for sure. Johnson is now on Daytonas' minor league roster, so I guess he starts out there or even Kane County. AZPhil has yet to see Paniagua and Torreyes. Others of lesser note as well. Hope they're not having VISA issues.
  14. This is quite a bit different than how Angelo operated and I love it. Will this result in some dead money, at some point? Very likely. But, you can restructure and keep putting it off as well. Which is what I think should be done with a team that is very close to contention. 4-5 years from now, Emery isn't even guaranteed to be here and we filled 2 very big holes today without spending 7 mill in immediate cap space. Who knows? We may still be after Moore or Booth, plus resigning a few of our own as well. Hopefully we've got some extensions and restructures coming up. But just cutting Davis, Spaeth, maybe Hester or Garza, could be all thats necessary to get under enough for our draft class and a few resigns.
  15. I could see us going WR in the 1st or 2nd.
  16. Raiders just released Heyward-Bey.
  17. Who in the heck is billing him like that besides meatheads? The percentages of meatballs dwarfs us normal folk.
  18. Money sounds about right, maybe a tad high. I'm fine with it though, wonder what the cap number is for 2013?
  19. Welker has decided to test market after getting Pats offer.
  20. Dolphins just released Karlos Dansby. Any interest?
  21. Excellent. Damn good day. Would love to find a way to add Moore somehow, but that may be asking too much.
  22. If they can add Bennett, one of Bushrod or Baker, AND Moore, its a hell of a job. Bennett plus one of those 3 is solid.
  23. I want a follow up to this. Watkins plays decently?
  24. If we can come out of this with a LT and a TE, I'll be thrilled.
  25. Little surprised if Urlacher leaves, but I can certainly see where there could be a gap between us and him on money. At any rate, we're an hour away and no cuts or restructures.......Either [expletive] is about to get crazy or we're not doing much in FA. I'm still thinking the former.
