  1. Walter has Barrett Jones dropping to Jacksonville in the 4th at pick 98. Why has he dropped so far? I would love to trade down, pick up a 3rd an take him, if thats actually in the area where he'll go. Especially with his vetsatility, I could see him at LG, then moving to C once Garza is gone.
  2. Jackson isn't healthy. If anything, they may want him to just get a few at bats before going back. I think I read he may still be a week away.
  3. We were in on Keppinger. My guess is we didn't want to go 3 years on him. Who knows though? I agree he'd have been a solid addition. As it stands, Levine says there's a 95% chance we add someone off the waiver wire this next week. Cedeno, hall, Figgins, Garland? I guess it'd be one from that group. Garland makes little sense, unless we think he's a better 6th starter than Rusin for the beginning of yhe season. Cedeno is the best player of the group, but he plays a position he'd get no time at whatsoever. Figgins and Hall are both versatile, but suck. However, after seeing Sveums' comment, my guess is we pick up Figgins.
  4. Someone tell me how to feel about that. Assuming its a vet minimum deal, hes a decent ST guy, depth at S. Just a body.
  5. Jensen says we're signing Zbikowski.
  6. Matt Loosen tweeted"lost some good guys today", so I guess at least a few cuts were made.
  7. There's been lots of pop up guys as well this spring. I don't think of this as a weak draft right now either. We'll be happy with what we get at 2 and at 41 as well. Plenty of HS pitching that'd fit with that pick. Right now, I'd be OK with any of Appel, Gray, Bryant, or Meadows at 2. I'd prefer Appel or Gray, but if Meadows or Bryant agreed to sign for well under slot, I'd be OK with that. Because we could then get multiple high upside arms later on with some of that money. I just don't know if one of this group separates themselves at this point. Nor do I think thats necessarily a bad thing.
  8. The Gerrit Cole comps on Gray are intriguing and are beginning to look realistic, it as ppears. Meadows has been on fire, by the way. Its very possible hes who the Astros take.
  9. Appel went 8, gave up 6 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and 11 K's. Manaea went 7, gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 8 K's.
  10. I wish teams didn't basically get home court. Eliminate it altogether. Western Kentucky has damn near no support as a 16 tonight. As far as Brad Stevens goes, I've had it in my mind for a while, he'll take the Duke job once K retires.
  11. With an offensive minded coach now(finally as far as I'm concerned) I think we're going to see a shift, maybe substantially, to where more of our cap will be distributed to the offense. If we add another LB thru FA, I can see OG and WR being our top 2 draft choices. That said, I'd love a trade down emerge that gets us an extra pick inside the top 3 rounds.
  12. Tyler Danish, HS RHP, low 90's, excellent makeup, bigtime sinker, has put up this line this year: 42IP, 14H, 0R, 7W, and 73K's. I'd think he's on our radar at 41, if he's not long gone.
  13. Only way I wind up preferring Gray is if his stock just keeps rising. Appel has an ace ceiling, but also relatively safe to be a midrotation type, assuming health.
  14. Good question. Law thinks Appel could be ready to pitch in the majors in September. Whats normal for a high college pick? Late 2015, maybe?
  15. Gray went 9, 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk and 12 K's. Was hitting 97(at least) in the 9th. Threw around 120 pitches.
  16. What ever good insight/thoughts he had were outweighed by the fact that he was a huge weirdo. Hehe. He's done much better over there. I just like good discussion. Not my call obviously.
  17. Thru 8, 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and 11 K's for Gray.
  18. By the way, just wanted to say Hrubes is an excellent poster at PSD. Here's hoping you crossover more often. There's good stuff on both boards. And I'll pimp out Gato over there as well. (priortotheo......)He's a damn good contributor draft wise for sure.
  19. Jensen says we're likely to sign another veteran LB and mentioned Nick Burnett as a possibility. If true, it gives us that much more flexibility during the draft.
  20. Urlacher is acting this way because he obviously is hurt by the willingness to let him walk. To me, its easy to see both sides. But I'm glad Emery made a tough decision. As for DJ Williams? Very nice move. Love our offseason so far honestly.
  21. They're coming off of having Valverde as their closer. For as good as the rest of their team is, they evidently want someone who's not going to give you a heart attack. More consistent. You pretty much know what Street will give you. bruce rondon???? He's pitched much better recently, but it appears they DO want some sort of backup plan.
  22. Yeah, what MWV said. Possible I misconstrued your meaning of gooberface, but I liked it.
  23. You're high. I'm stealing your line. We're going to be seeing a ton of "goober face" this year.
  24. Not sure that rivals Kellogg last weekend-"They're going to find you, feel you, then finish you off".
  25. Horrible charge call, but who cares?
