  1. Well [expletive]. I could claim my mind got hacked as well. But, I truly just didn't know that.
  2. So.......This Rosemont thing. Are we for this?
  3. Nate Collins got 630k, non guaranteed.
  4. Yeah, this sucks. Hell, this could push him way back.
  5. Thats an odd comment. We know they're happy with Soler. Concepcion? Yeah, appears to be a miss. But they literally just signed the last of the known defectors. How is it even possible to be backing away? You've got Dariel Alvarez, who's not considered an elite talent. And there's Aledmis Diaz, who we've been linked to, doesn't have great scouting reports attached, and is having age questions. No one else is even known currently. If talent shows up, I see no reason at all we wouldn't be involved.
  6. Kyle: 6 years versus 1, maybe 2. The six-year price is a lot more than $3.1 million. Jesus. Its a lot less than finding a different 35 year old one year wonder on the FA market each year.
  7. Kyle: 6 years versus 1, maybe 2.
  8. Too early.
  9. Chris Crawfords' latest Big Board now has a top 10 of Appel, Gray, Meadows, Bryant, Kohl Stewart, Manaea, Frazier, Stanek, Austin Wilson and Ball. Others of note include Chris Anderson at 12, Trevor Williams at 20, Dominic Smith at 21, Matt Krook at 22, and Jonathon Crawford at 28. Crawford runs MLBDRAFTINSIDER, writes for ESPN's draft coverage, and is probably the friendliest draft guy on Twitter to ask questions to.
  10. Take the votes, add them, divide by number of votes. Count the one vote outside the top 40 and count it as 41. Or ask that person to explain his vote, to make sure it wasn't just a troll job. Assuming its not, the average vote is 27.5. If it is a troll vote, discount it, and the average vote is 25.7. So, instead of a bunch of revoting and making people change their actual ranking, just round up and put him at 26 or 28, depending on the vote outside the top 40.
  11. I think McDonald has a shot in the OF. Rusin has been excellent, he's my guess for the last pen spot. I think Wade likely accepts an Iowa assignment and gets his shot at some point. Remotely interesting to me is why are they stretching out Takahashi? AZPhil wonders if they put him in a piggyback role with Baker, when he first comes back.
  12. Kyle's true conflict is with his doom boner. Whatever decision on Javy is made, the doom boner will immediately voice its opinion as to why its wrong.
  13. RBI double to the wall. Javy.
  14. Thats fine Kyle. But you can't ignore Soler was assigned to Daytona, while Baez was sent to minor league camp. That makes it a possibility he's in AA to start the year, making it much more likely he could make more than a token appearance in yhe majors in 2014. And again, no way we truly know, but it seems as if he's worked counts this spring, to some degree. Whether he can take 50 walks in a year is immaterial if he can put up .800+ OPS's without it.
  15. Stanek failed to make it out of the 5th again today.
  16. Soler was assigned to Daytona today. Baez to minor league camp. That tells me they're at least considering starting Baez somewhere other than Daytona.
  17. TBD. I don't think Castro moving off SS is off the table yet. Having a bat like Baez at 2B would be ridiculous though.
  18. Marlin says Bryant is definitely still in our mix. Gray too, who we had quite a few higher ups at his game on Friday.
  19. Holy [expletive], they released Urban? Did I imagine an AZPhil report saying how well he was throwing this spring? Garcia is a shock too. But Urban? He never threw a pitch in a game, did he?
  20. Thats all well and good, but his velo went up because he was pitching in much shorter stints as a reliever, than he would be as a starter. BA gave him a 55 grade, for what its worth.
  21. I've seen comments(and politically correct"no comments") made from Mike Newman, Law, Parks, Goldstein, and likely others as well, that take issue with Sickels' scouting knowledge. They respect the fact he's carved out a career and all, but he just offers little to zero true insight, outside of stuff any of us can see(Baez needs to be more selective, etc)
  22. Don't fret over that. Sickels looks at stats more than any of the other guys. I don't think anyone else sees him as more than a mid rotation guy.(nothing wrong with mid rotation)
  23. My hope is Frazier continues to mash and Houston takes the cheap approach again, to acquire more talent by spreading around their allotment. With SP our top need, whoever it is, in that scenario, I really like our FO's chances if it gets their choice of the top shelf guys.
  24. Product of a weak draft, but I want more out of the 2nd pick than we got at 6 last year. And it seems quite a few are putting Frazier and Meadows underneath Almora and Dahl from last year. Gray hasn't come completely out of nowhere, at least. BA had him at 36 on their top 100 college players heading into the year. But I get the gist:It's scary and its a pick we really need to make count.
  25. No clue. I'll say this and it may be totally unfounded. But I'm hoping Appel falls to us. I think he's the perfect blend of upside and safeness. Manaea scares me somewhat. And thats not what I want out of a 2nd pick. Is Gray going to solidify his status? If so, then I still don't know what to think about him at 2.
