  1. My thoughts exactly.
  2. http://www.thecubreporter.com/05292013/junior-lake-back-action-fitch-park#more Lake played today, glad to see him progressing.
  3. If his second half looks like his first half, you have to look at cutting bait for the 40-man spot. Nah, he'd still have some semblance of value. Not much, but he's still tradeable. But it'd be sad seeing him dealt for pennies on the dollar.
  4. If all goes right, he's a 2/3. Back end of the pen type if he can't stay healthy as a starter.
  5. He's just been reinstated from a steroid suspension.
  6. With the amount of money he had to spend, Theo did a hell of a job with it this year.
  7. Toonster, I'm pretty sure when asked if he thought Alcantara was a top 100 guy, Law said "probably". This was prior to his latest hot streak too. I feel comfortable with adding Johnson and Vogelbach as well, due to whats looking to be an extraordinarily high group of gradutions this year.(most still eligible at this exact point and time, but are heading towards graduation soon)
  8. Wow, if we could pull off Graham or Wood for Russell, I'd be thrilled.
  9. Eh, the top guys make them. Barreto was 13th for the Jays this year, Beras was 18th for the Rangers, Mujica was 23rd for Tampa, Gohara was 12th for the Mariners, Cabrera was 12th for the Giants. Probably a few more hit lists immediately as well. If we actually do sign the top 2 IFA's this year(as rumored), I could see BA putting them both in or around our top 15.
  10. Toonster, not sure why you said its "not pretty" after 7 or so. Especially since we're likely 6 deep in top 100 types at this point. Vizcaino being hurt still sucks, but there's no issue with having him in your top 10 obviously. Paniagua has talent too, we've just been held up from seeing it obviously. Won't surprise me if we don't see him hit full season ball this year based on his late start. The rest is iffy, sure. But its no more iffy than most orgs and there's not nearly as much depth to choose from in most orgs either. I think my post may top 10 would look like this..... 1 Soler 2 Baez 3 Almora 4 Johnson 5 Alcantara 6 Vogelbach 7 Vizcaino 8 Candelario 9 Paniagua 10 Szczur With Underwood, Contreras, Brett, Villanueva, Underwood, Hendricks, Amaya, Maples, Lake, and Torreyes being 11-20(likely close to that order for me) The system is easily top 10 currently and will get a giant bump from trades, the draft, and IFA very soon. I'll be extremely surprised if we're not a top 5 system by August 1st.
  11. Too much talent to just look at stats, especially when there seems to be plenty that thought he'd experience this. Not to mention, his last 10, he's gone .372/.426/.581 with 3 walks and 5 K's in 43 at bats. SSS? Sure. But its also entirely possible we'll see a line closer to this than his previous one for the rest of his year.
  12. He's playing on a field thats considered one of the worst in all the minors and has a guy that can't catch a cold trying to handle his throws at first, in Geiger. It's not a concern.
  13. I think its time to see a power streak out of him.
  14. Hendricks went 6.2, gave up 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 earned, 2 walks, and K'd 6. Thought he may have been done after 6, line would have been 6 4 1 1 1 5, if he had been taken out.
  15. I'm sure that Sullivan is loving every second of this. Love the subtle jab at Moneyball in his tweet. Maybe I'm missing something, but where's the jab?
  16. Breaking down a Paul Sullivan tweet seems about as useful as brushing your teeth with a hairbrush.
  17. Thanks Raisin. Sounds like good news for you with Wesely. By the way, Chris Crawford has scouting profiles up for the top 10 on his board. Appel- FB 70/70 SL55/65 CH 65/70 CO/COMM 55/60 MECH 70/70 Gray- FB 80/80 SL 65/70 CH 40/50 CO/COMM 45/50 MECH 50/60 Bryant- ONBASE 50/55 PO 70/70 GLOVE(3B) 45/45 ARM 55/55 SPEED 40/40 Moran- ONBASE 50/60 PO 45/55 GLOVE 45/45 ARM 55/55 SPEED 45/40 I really like reading his stuff, so I value his grades. I think I'd value that group in that exact order based on those numbers.
  18. How about Casey Shane and Jonah Wesely. Throw in Jeff Thompson, since Kiley says we're connected to him. Not sure how Eicholtz isn't in their top 500. Thanks a bunch.
  19. Torreyes HR, time to heat back up hopefully.
  20. At 21-27, I think its much more likely that we'd see them bring Ventura up than deal him away for anything less than being a lead piece for an impact piece.
  21. You couldn't get Ventura alone for those two, not to mention that the draft is over before Feldman can even be dealt.
  22. Just as good or better of a chance he prices himself into someone giving him a 6-7 year deal on FA market at max prices as him regressing. We can afford to risk it and pay him that if it comes to it. I think your doom boner has you scared to death of pitching. Sometimes, its still smart to try to lock one up. I'd rather give Shark 5/60 with a 18 mill option or two right now, than possibly have to pay him 6/120 or so in 2 years. That said, I think its a moot conversation, as I think if Shark wanted an early extension, he probably would have signed one already.
