  1. Arguello and Loxas at Cubsden think Texas likely gets Garza, but are hearing Olt IS in play, but NOT as the main piece.
  2. Texas seems like the favorite to me. Here's my guess, if its them: Olt, Luke Jackson, and Neil Ramirez. And no, I don't suspect the board would like it. I would LOVE to pry CJ Edwards away, but an Olt/Edwards package seems a bit much, in my opinion. Even if we look at Olt as 2012 Brett part deux.
  3. I'll put the over/under on our return at a top 100ish type prospect(or was and is in beginning stages of majors), a top 10ish org guy in average system, and a top 20ish type as well.
  4. If anything, my guess are the teams that truly are in on Garza all prefer to pay the money, in order to lessen the prospect return and we have to relent from that aspect.
  5. McLeod said Lake "is very close" to being ready tonight.
  6. No. Got hit with a 72 mph pitch. And he's fine. It was the left elbow at that. Ah cool. Thanks guys.
  7. Is Garza OK? He got hit on the elbow with a liner?
  8. Bruno just tweeted he's headed to Chicago to have TJS. Damn.
  9. Injuries do play into my thinking.
  10. Flame away, but if the Marlins offered us Stanton for Javy and Almora, I'm saying no.
  11. Javy becoming the face of the franchise is what I really want to see happen.
  12. Matt Thornton dealt for Brandon Jacobs. Thornton has a 6 mill option next year and will be 37. Jacobs began the season as a guy hanging around a loaded Red Sox top 10 or so. Struggled a bit this year. That said, Russell should definitely bring back more than this, more team control and better stats as well. White Sox did decently though, if Russell winds up getting dealt, I think we'll all be happy with the return.
  13. The money it'd likely require to extend Porcello and the fact we're banking on peripherals to translate into results doesn't make me excited about using our best trade chip on him. Give me prospects for Garza and I'll revisit Porcello over the offseason.
  14. WTH, Tyler? This is one of the higher ranked prep Catchers in the draft. He must have really changed his bonus demands. I figure if teams had known this, he'd have been a top 5 round pick, instead of lasting as long as he did. We've got 440,925 to offer Clifton, according to Yagyu at PSD.
  15. Its hard to pinpoint Soriano's value. Even assuming we pay 75% or more of his remaining deal. He holds plenty of excess value to us, since we are power deficient, plus he's a good influence on our younger guys. I'd let him finish out the contract here unless we got offered a top 10 type from a decent system and a lower level, high upside type or two, like Pineyro, for instance. Or some other combo, maybe a solid reliever with multiple years of control and a pair of top 20 types? Even still, I'm not even sure I'd do a deal like either of those.
  16. How much was Clifton rumored to sign for? $800,000. I could have swore I saw he had agreed for 570,000. At any rate, unless Alamo is signing for 100k plus tuition, looks like Clifton has no shot at happening. Which is disappointing.
  17. Great news.....Hopefully this doesn't cost us Clifton.
  18. They sign 2014 contracts actually. Unless they're older, like Mejia. They may get a taste of EXST over the offseason and its possible if they're advanced enough, they could start out in Arizona. Highly doubtful though. More than one year in the Dominican League for those 2 would be a big disappointment. FWIW, Jimenez and Torres will both show up on BA's top 30. Likely in the late teens to mid 20 range. Parks said he'll consider both for his Cubs top 15.
  19. Yeah, I'm already looking for Mejia in the DSL boxscores, although it may be a little longer before he's pitching in games. But he'll get some game action at some point, which is cool.
  20. Very cool. It is interesting that Jimenez hasn't been announced yet. Makes me think we're still trying to add slots. But if Tseng gets much over 1.5, all the extra slot money does is save us on overage. At any rate, we'll never know. Make it an epic class and no one will care anyway.
  21. I honestly believe every AAA team there is, can throw out 3 starters that could do what Blanton does. How he's lasted as long as he has makes no sense.
  22. It's actually pretty absurd that in THIS crap-ass system, with the new CBA, we somehow managed to get the TWO best prospects out of it.
  23. I know this has been asked recently, but is he regaining his velo, or is he sitting upper 80's, as he was earlier in the year?
  24. I like Danny Salazar quite a bit from the Indians. They're bringing him up to the majors for a start this week. He's got a FB that has hit triple digits and his secondary stuff is coming around this year. His main concern is a lack of innings in a single. If packaged with Tyler Naquin, I think I'd be OK with it. Hoping for a bigger name though as the headliner.
