  1. I was wondering if Torrealba showed up in the new scouting reports he posted. He's evidently got 70 up now, with predictions.
  2. Raisin, did Badler write anything on Torrealba, in his latest? Or anyone else linked to us, for that matter?
  3. What did Bowden project as his Garza trade? It was less than flattering, from what Twitter responses have shown anyway.
  4. Agree completely with you on that as well. Just comes down to what Theo/Jed have to play with monetarily. Hopefully Ricketts will let them play at the big boy table sooner than later.
  5. One report I saw had Torrealba as the 2nd best C in the class and 25th overall. With how we've handled our draft class, we may not see any official signings for a while.
  6. Anything on Mejia today from Badler? I guess we can construe by the 150% stuff, he's in our plans. I definitely don't want to punt next year though. Unless they just say [expletive] it and signed like 7-8 top 20 types.
  7. Mojo, I'm not arguing your last point. The FO knows far more than we do. I'm just doubting they're looking at the guy at a 60 mill type level.
  8. Mojo, I said as soon as Walter took over for McCourt, they could be looking at a 300 mill payroll within 5 years. They certainly COULD get this guy AND another bigtime pitcher over the offseason. I suspect they'll go after a 2B and 3B as well though, before going that route.
  9. My thing with Gonzalez is this: And its been mentioned earlier too. His stats weren't impressive in the Cuban league. Not 60 mill impressive anyway. He's been hit pretty hard in his showcases. And there are even reports he may not be ready to help a major league team this year. And he's coming off 2 straight years if bone spurs in his elbow. Is THIS the guy you really want to pay 60 mill to? Look, I want the bigtime IFA guys. But this guy at this price? Honestky, I think I'll pass. If we surprise everyone and get him, I'll be hesitantly optimistic. But if we miss, I'm not going to be pissed.
  10. The Dodgers will have given Kershaw an extension by then. They've got Greinke and Ryu as their 2 and 3. If they give Gonzalez over 10 mill a year, you c as n pencil him in. They'll still have Beckett and Billingsley for another year and expect Zack Lee to compete for their last spot as well. If they give a guy 60 mill that doesn't become more than a mid rotation type, it doesn't help them all that much and gives us a better shot at signing one of the other guys. We're not playing on the same field(or planet possibly) when it comes to the Dodgers financially. Better to vet them out of the way, in my opinion, and it gives us a much better shot at the others. Who may be better anyway. We can compete financially with anyone else, given the current landscape.
  11. Someone with a site that no one's ever heard of. That said, I'd be completely fine watching the Dodgers spend 60 mill or so on this guy. It makes it likely they'd back off of Suk Min Yoon and the 24-25 year old Japanese guy(Takada, Tanaka?) that looks to be posted this offseason.
  12. I don't think thats ever been answered. But I would think it needs to be done before signing the player(s). Plus, if you did it the other way, you'd have to pay much more in trade value for that space, because teams would know you don't want to take the penalty.
  13. In the end, I expect Garza, Feldman, Gregg, and one of Schierholtz or DeJesus dealt. Soriano as well, if he gets hot enough to warrant a fairly solid return. Which means I suspect heading into 2014, we'll need 2 starting OFers, 2 starting pitchers, and at least 2-3 bullpen arms. I agree with TT, some of those holes need to be filled via trades this month. Maybe 3-4 of them actually.
  14. Yeah, BA has the Cubs committed to spending a tad over 6 mill supposedly. Which makes the whole trading for more IFA space imperative obviously. That said, as much as I want pitching, if we didn't trade for extra IFA money, but STIL came out of it with Torres and Jimenez.....Thats beyond excellent. Tomorrow could be interesting for sure though.
  15. Toonster, I certainly value your insight, but I look at Arrieta at this point and don't think I'd even trade them Alberto Cabrera straight up for him. And I'm not even a fan of Cabrera. Arrieta is a decent enough buy low type. But not as anything of value in a Garza deal. The O's just aren't much of a fit. Their comp pick next year, the vast majority of their IFA money, Rodriguez, and Arrieta for Garza? It isn't overwhelming me by any stretch. I'd rather get one premium piece(top 50 type, like the Beltran-Wheeler swap) than a bunch of quantity.
  16. It'd be nice if we could snag Cecchini as part of a Garza deal. I'd prefer DeLa Rosa or Webster as the headliner. A second piece, I'd love to grab Ranaudo or Henry Owens. Maybe even Barnes, although I'm not sure if his stuff has regressed or not. Do you like them better as prospects or just hung up on getting a pitcher? Rightly or wrongly, I'm a bigtime Rubby fan. I'd take him over Cecchini myself. I'd let the positional need and the fact Webster could be in our rotation next year put him over Cecchini for me as well. Nothing against Cecchini either. I agree with what TT mentioned a while ago, about getting a lead piece pretty close to the majors.
  18. Actually, I'd think with Vizcaino having his setback and Baker being wasted money this year, our FO is less likely to go that route again. As for the Nats system, I like AJ Cole and Brian Goodwin. But I see better fits on a Garza return elsewhere.
  19. 5IP 5H 3R 3ER 4W 3K for Pierce tonight.
  20. Looks like you picked an excellent game to go see. In AAA, Logan Watkins is trying to draw me back in to thinking he's our starting 2B next year. He's got 8 homers now and his OPS is likely around .775 for the season. If he continues his mantra of being a second half player, he's a legit option for the 25 man opening day roster, with a shot at starting, in my opinion.
  21. Give me Skaggs, Bradley, Eaton, Holmberg, and Davidson. Assuming Arizona laughs, just extend him and be happy. Then go get him some longterm rotation help. I'd say there's about a 0.0001% chance Shark gets dealt, because it'd likely take something fairly close to that to make us trade him.
  22. Blackburn gave up 3 unearned runs in the 4th. 3 errors in the inning. His FB is 91-94, with a CB clocked at 76.
  23. Why yes, yes it is. Just as 2 of the 3 previous posts before yours mention.
  24. Over 60 scouts watched this guys last outing. Knobler thinks he may get 5 years and 60 mill. Gotta admit, thats more than a tad scary for my tastes.
  25. I'm feeling pretty confident that Szczur becomes a very good 4th OFer for us. I hope he gets bumped to AAA soon.
