  1. Parks isn't good at all with trade values. And that Stan guy, who appears to be a very knowledgable fan, should be able to read the tea leaves-we don't value young pitching like that. The only way I honestly see us doing a deal like that is if its one of our SS for TWO Giolito's. The success rate becomes much closer then. And no team in baseball is going to do that type of deal for us.
  2. Am I missing where someone said that the yankees could have easily beat the offer? I saw some quotes from Cashman that they were seriously involved, but Theo had told him every time they talked that if one team relented and included one player, that's who they were going with. When Cashman saw, he admitted they got the best deal they possibly could have.
  3. I believe it's Wada, Jackson, Hendricks, Jackson, Beeler Then I think we have a shot at going 3-2.
  4. I'm looking forward to Wada, Beeler, and Hendricks in our next 3.
  5. Like I said, I'm fine with how they're keeping these guys down. But Javy needs time to adjust to each level it appears and struggles out of the gate. However, his ridiculous talent COULD have allowed for things to go quicker. It's possible he could be figuring it out in the majors right now, instead of AAA.
  6. I think Alcantara would have been up if he were in some other orgs. KB and Javy both definitely would have. Is there another team that's as cautious as us? I get why and I'm fine with it. But it is frustrating at times obviously.
  7. That was all he was scheduled to go.
  8. Jordan Minch is signing with the Cubs.
  9. I'm pretty sure all 30 teams do something like that now. Yeah, but it's about restraint. If you make it too blatant and get someone really good, they'll come down on you. The point is, there is such a variance on how teams value individual players, it's easy to do. There are guys that have gotten million dollar bonuses that other teams truly see as a 50k type.
  10. Almora RBI single. 22 for his last 50 now.
  11. Pigeons and seagulls are NOT migratory birds. Yes, this was discussed. Tunney evidently just called the Cubs a minor league team, by the way. I'm sure that'll make it easier to settle at this point.
  12. So, what effect does the lighting off the proposed LED boards have on migratory birds? THIS is being brought up, by the way.
  13. It's so hard to regulate though. If you find the right trainer, you can hide guys at our academy, to where no one really gets much of a look at them. It's such a crapshoot with kids this young as it is. A bad look and most guys are likely on to the next guy anyway. They're definitely doing better, more showcases, more actual game looks. But it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out trainers doing stuff like this for a flat fee to themselves either.
  14. I want a TOR guy. But I'm coming around on the hitters4eva movement. Just sign them in FA or develop one, within the large group of upside arms we continually draft/sign as IFA's. Our infrastructure that has been built really is starting to show results, in this aspect of things.
  15. In Syndergaard's defense, he's pitching in the PCL, he's 21, and he is K'ing guys. I'd love to have that guy. But I'd rather draft him in the 40ish range, as Toronto did with him.(38th)
  16. Thanks for stopping in and it does certainly SEEM like we're tailor-made trade partners. But for the very detailed reasons above that Logan listed, I find it doubtful we'll find a trade. Our FO can be convinced to trade anything at a price obviously.....But Alderson isn't dumb and our FO obviously doesn't value young pitching all that highly. I just don't see a match. Not just with you guys(who probably are set up better than anyone else to make a pitching for hitting swap) but with anyone.
  17. There's waves(ripples anyway)of pitching too. Iowa Vizcaino Rivero Tennessee Edwards Johnson Black Daytona Zastryzny Kane County Skulina Tseng Blackburn Underwood Paniagua Torrez Boise Clifton Arizona Mejia Others Maples Moreno(DSL) Pineyro Just drafted Stinnett Sands Steele Cease May not have the truly elite guy, but there is tons of breakout potential and plenty of guys that have a very good chance of having long term major league careers. That's a fairly solid group of arms, that gets lost in how ridiculous the hitting is.
  18. No clue about the logistics of things:As in how many players do we even have room for between the two leagues? I'm not going to sign guys just to spend our budget, if there's not enough players we like in the 250k and under range, just save it for next year. That said, my guess is we'll sign 15-20 players. Seems that's in the usual range anyway.
  19. Well, I hope we spend all of ours now. Because these smaller slots literally have no value.
  20. There's defending the plan and then there's rubbing noses in it. There were very valid points on both sides. It's not like the guys who wanted winning earlier are out there screaming against these type of moves. They're intelligent and know a good move when they see one. But even as I'm a guy that defended this way, doing it the other way could have worked too.(if money was available)
  21. What exactly in there was remotely stupid? Edit: NM, thought you were calling THESE comments stupid.
  22. I'm pretty sure Hoyer is on record saying Schwarber was 2nd on their board, meaning one of those 3 pitchers was higher and everything pointed to it being Aiken. The Astros appear to have bailed us out twice now and we should send them an edible arrangement.
