  1. The only thing I disagree with blaming the Astros here is in tying Aiken and Nix together. The CBA dictates that end of things. And all teams are being extremely careful on how deals are becoming official-under slot guys 1st, then the over slot guys, because the penalties are too harsh to mess this up.
  2. It will never make sense to me that MLB allows teams to spend 250 mill on a team payroll, but not allow a team to spend 20 mill on amateur talent.
  3. Why should the kids' adviser shut up? He absolutely should speak up on his behalf. Seriously. This is just a ploy to get another high bonus guy in the fold.
  4. The Astros are trying to sign Mac Marshall, Casey Close knows it too. He was hitting 97 his last start. The Astros gave Mengden close to 500k with a fractured back. I hope he doesn't sign and MLB makes him a FA.
  5. Law said its no one of consequence, to change the balance of the deal. Cafardo mentioned Raul Alcantara as a possibility. (TJS rehab currently, but their 3rd ranked prospect) This can be taken 2 ways, I guess. Oak lands system is awful, maybe Law doesn't think anyone in their system is a player of consequence. Or, Cafardo could just be searching for names and threw him out as a possibility. Even if it IS Alcantara, it doesn't change the balance of the deal for me either. But I'll still guess its not him and some guy that's not going to be considered for a spot in our top 30.
  6. Yeah, I'd say so. And I'd also say he's a permanent LF if that's the case.
  7. Are you watching? Tweets say ball was lost in the lights. Should it have been caught? Justin Steele K'd the side in his first AZL inning, working with a 92MPH FB and a 73-74 MPH CB.
  8. Is he definitely going to test FA? Or is he open to an extension, if he gets dealt? I hate saying it, but I think we'll sign stopgaps again in the offseason. As good if ones as we can find, but stopgaps nonetheless. At most, maybe a 2 year on a guy.(nothing wrong with that)I've seen quotes recently from Theo that made it sound like they definitely don't want to invest big money in pitching until we're definitively contending. As much as I'm looking forward to seeing our youngsters next year, it's very likely some or all experience growing pains in the majors. If Price hits FA, I think we'd take the chance on him at that point. But I can't see us adding a major pitching acquisition until 2016, the more I look at things. If we have Arrieta/Wood/Jackson and one of Hendricks/Wada looking viable, I think we're likely to sign 2 out of this group..... Masterson/Liriano/Hammel/Beckett/McCarthy/Peavy/Dempster(cheap and I expect him back the more I think about it) Then, once some of the young hitters are firmly established, we'll add a longterm option or 2, as far as SP goes.
  9. I don't have an issue with saying if Wade plays that amount games, they're likely a 45/50 win team. But if that's what Rose plays, why do you expect them to not only win MORE, but evidently think they'll win enough more to be considered on a different level than Miami. Because if Miami is good enough to win 50, I have an extremely hard to "lol" at them being mentioned in the same breath as this Bulls team.
  10. I think you guys are severely underestimating Bosh. He's been a lead before and there's no reason I can think of as to why he can't be again. Deng is a fairly solid 2nd guy and they've got role players to work into the mix. Bosh is a better lead than anyone on the Bulls other than Rose. I'm sorry, but these two rosters, with or without Rose/Wade just aren't that different in talent. In the end, we'll find out soon enough, but I think you guys are vastly overestimating things.
  11. true, but if rose is healthy/good, the bulls are borderline title contenders. i think even without rose, they win a similar amount of games as the heat next season. I know we're not done, but I think if Rose goes down and Hinrich is playing 30+ minutes a night, we're a .500 team at best currently. And that's with no other injuries. We literally have no one that can create their own shot. If Miami IS healthy, I see them as much more than a 45 regular season win team though. And since Wade hasn't actually re-signed yet, I've got a feeling he's taking much less to surround himself with a better core than they've got at present too. So you're assuming worst case scenario for the Bulls vs best case scenario for the Heat? No, it's either/or. If both teams are healthy, I put them on the same level. If neither Rose or Wade are healthy, I do the same.

  13. I get that Wade isn't likely to stay healthy, but does anyone here feel like betting the farm that Rose plays more games than him this season? Their plight hinges on Wade just as ours does with Rose.
  14. I think that was honestly just a pitiful attempt to get them to retweet that.
  15. I know it's cool to think Wade and Bosh suck, but they don't. That roster just posted is definitely on a par with anyone else in the East currently.
  16. I can't say definitely. The Cavs, Indiana, and Washington are in the picture. And don't count out Miami. If Love doesn't go to Cleveland, there are 5 teams that have a legit shot to make the finals. lol Why are you laughing at that?
  17. Javy is not busting. He's going to be our best player for a decade and everyone else in MLB is going to hate him.
  18. I certainly understand the Reyes-lite comps. And outside of stolen bases, I think he looks like an exact replica of him.
  19. 2/6 for DJ to Detroit. Really? We actually chose Hinrich over him on a level playing field.
  20. 2/5.6 for Hinrich LOL
  21. It seemed like it wasn't the money as much as how it went down. Brought him into the office, tell him 3/30-non-negotiable and gave him a quick deadline. I'd be pissed if I were him too. But if I were in GarPax's shoes, it's probably what I'd have done as well, if I'd even have made an offer.
  22. Oh well, guess no DJ. No clue why they want Hinrich back, especially if its not at the minimum. I won't hold my breath for a Boozer trade.
  23. C Castillo 1B Rizzo 2B Russell/Castro SS Castro/Russell 3B Javy LF Soler CF Alcantara RF KB With comparable rotation to this year, I think that team wins over half their games next year, if all up to start season. (No chance of it happening, but I can honestly see that lineup by July.
