  1. Jed specifically mentioned getting him more Manny time. Soler spent a week with him in Arizona and idolized him growing up. I hope like hell Manny wants to stick around next year. He'd be a nice tough for all the young IFA's.
  2. Get him to AAA, already The way Mooney is talking about it it seems like he might skip AAA. Jed mentioned yesterday or today if he keeps this up, he could see AAA soon.
  3. Isn't that spot likely available for Fujikawa coming off the 60 Day DL? He's rehabbing in AAA right now. [expletive], forgot about him. You're definitely right.
  4. Seriously, [expletive] Andrews said he's fine.
  5. The open 40 man spot is what raises my eyebrow on Javy. Not to mention we'll likely have additional ones from trades within the next 10 days or so. If a lefty pen guy, Bonifacio, and one of Ruggiano/Schierholtz gets moved-I'm guessing Javy, Rivero, and Jokisch get added. And hopefully Castillo, if we can sign him.
  6. Are you guys serious? If so, what makes you think that? I know he's been hotter as of late but I wasn't expecting him until September at the earliest just based on you guys. Hoyer was quoted yesterday, I think, saying Javy has improved his numbers every month in AAA and that's exactly what you want to see. Granted, it may not mean he's coming up, but he didn't bother adding in the obligatory "but he's still got a lot if boxes to check off" either.
  7. There's 30 minutes a game for Pau, if Love were to be acquired. That said, my honest guess is this is Minny's last gasp to pry a bit more from the Cavs.
  8. That wasn't...memorable. Geez, that was quick.
  9. Hopefully just maintenance.
  10. I think anything under 4 from the right side is exceptional.
  11. We're not going to have to have power coming off LF/RF. I can see Castillo and Alcantara at 1-2 in the order, followed by Rizzo, KB, Starlin, and Javy by May next year. The versatility is such a damn plus too. I am really talking myself into wanting him more than Tomas honestly.
  12. We've got so many awesome toys, McKinney definitely is getting overlooked.
  13. They may not be different, although I feel Bryant has a very good chance not to be a bust, but only time will tell how are prospects pan out. In an alternate universe maybe the Royals three top ten guys end up Allstars. Each player is an isolated case study obviously but using the mere numbers factor of top ten prospects I think you can hope for one guy ending up an Allstar, another becoming a good starter, and one of the three underwhelming. Who knows maybe we get Allstar level or near from all three players and we essentially won the lottery, but we might strikeout too. I'd be curious to see what percentage of BA's top ten prospects end up "allstar level or if you want to use another metric for very good," what percentage become "decent starters," and what percentage bust or "don't even become regular decent players." If someone has time to scrub through BA's lists going back twenty to thirty years that would be awesome. I'd also be interested in seeing what the success rate is for top 10 hitters compared to top 10 pitchers. http://www.royalsreview.com/2011/2/14/1992424/success-and-failure-rates-of-top-mlb-prospects
  14. This all comes down to Javy not knowing or caring who Vitters or Brett are.
  15. Actually, I can see Ervin Santana as a legit option next year. I keep forgetting about him. Give me him, Maeda, and Rusney Castillo. No trades. Let the kids filter in and buy at the deadline.
  16. Next year is the transition year, in bringing all the kids up. With some of Theo's quotes on pitching, I doubt we add long term guys until we're confident in contending immediately. Mid season next year or 2016. But there's obviously a ton of question marks heading into next year and I can see them holding off until they're sure they're not wasting innings on a non contender.(so many bullet theory) But Masterson, Liriano, guys like that-I expect. An upgrade from our previous forays, but not "all-in" quite yet.
  17. I really expect Close to try his damndest to get Aiken and Nix free agency. I figure Nix has the best shot. But what I can't see is MLB allowing teams to freely bid either. Take a little of what Boras said today and work with that somehow. Allow all teams to look at the medicals and let teams decide on if they'd have given him 6.5 or not. Allow all teams that WOULD do it, to then be able to bid under these terms: Half of what you bid is taken from your draft pool over the next 2 seasons. Blind posting system type stuff. The 1st round slot of the winning team takes the hit. If the bid eclipses the entire amount, it eats into the rest of the slots. (example-team bids 12 mill, 3 mill gets taken off draft budget each of next 2 years)
  18. I'm not going to sift through the billion articles Wittenmyer wrote on it, but I think they have.
  19. I get that it's been around forever and certainly predates the debt structure. But that doesn't change the fact that every bit of Edwin's 8 mill was paid up front and counted in its entirety by the Cubs that season. Same with each of Castro, Rizzo, Soler, and anyone else that's had a signing bonus since Ricketts took over. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal, but it could be an extra 4-5 mill that we'll be able to use, if we're capped at a certain payroll.
  20. There's been stuff come out about the debt structure that its an ACTUAL money outlay that matters. The prorating of salaries isn't necessary at this point.
  21. I think we will trade for Price. Next year at the deadline, after Seattle trades for him now and isn't in contention next year at the deadline. And get him without having to give up one of our elite guys.
  22. He has had good numbers all the way back to his age 16/17 seasons (he is now 19y, 3 days old). Unfortunately, he was pretty bad last year in Arizona.
  23. There were some that thought he'd be better served repeating KC this year anyway. I'm not sure whether they move him back up of not this year. I'm fine with letting him stay put, hopefully gain confidence and play well in High A next year. I think him and Villanueva especially could be used in trades this offseason though.
