  1. That's serious SNTS right there. Vogelbach is definitely in mine. Candelario is iffy, but the only new draftee I'd have over him is Schwarber. Underwood is definitely in my top 20. Personally, I'm not ranking Alcantara or Hendricks anymore as their eligibility is closing fast. The guys under consideration for the 2 spots vacated by them for me are Candelario, Rivero, Villanueva, Clifton, Hannemann, and Marco Hernandez. Group is hard to differentiate for me.
  2. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/chc/standout-kris-bryant-leads-chicago-cubs-updated-top-20-list?ymd=20140727&content_id=86245286&vkey=news_chc Top 20 with write ups. Good approach for Soler, maybe Callis just forgot? No clue. Only real surprise for me is Mejia at 20, which is encouraging obviously.
  3. Soler will majestically start making contact and the swing and miss will disappear. With a caveat that its a SSS, so the gurus aren't completely off(in their eyes)
  4. Maddux speech really good, Frank was the show stealer. How in the [expletive] could Torre not mention Steinbrenner?
  5. Javy only one of big 3 playing in second game.
  6. That's what I expect too. But I think it'd take a lot for them to take Wood out anyway. Jackson? I can see it, but not if he's still here. They'll just have to give him away.
  7. It was crushed. Into the wind.
  8. I think he's the only one with a chance to head into next year with a spot. huh? Out of Wada, him, Beeler or anyone else they throw out there. Outside of Arrieta, Wood, and Jackson, of course. Figure they're locks.(unless we take a bad contract for Edwin) I think Arrieta and Hendricks are going to end up the only ones in the rotation from that group. Or maybe I'm just wishing that's the case. I can't see that much turnover, even if I'd like to see it.

  11. Awesome. I remember watching an NBA game and saw Don Nelson get ejected in the 1st quarter. Del Harris, his top assistant at the time, immediately walked very calmly over to the ref and said "[expletive] you". Got tossed immediately, smiled, and supposedly went to dinner with Nelson during the game.
  12. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/27/astros-players-upset-over-mark-appels-promotion-to-double-a-bullpen-session-in-houston/ The Astros definitely are missing the "human element". Seriously, they've got issues.
  13. Javy is the man. FWIW, Gorosh thinks Dunston is the only prospect among Martin/Hannemann/Balaguert/Dunston. Not impressed with Jeffrey Baez either.
  14. That's your photo? Did you play at Furman? That's Jay Jackson Ha, I like how you say that as if a normal person would know who the [expletive] Jay Jackson is. And who's to say RammyFanny isn't Jay Jackson? ARam could have bought him a fat steak back in the day. /He looks really big. I remember it being brought up not TOO long ago or else I wouldn't have remembered myself.
  15. That's your photo? Did you play at Furman? That's Jay Jackson
  16. I'm not expecting anything from Straily. But if we get lucky, it'll happen after our guys diagnose his loss of velo and work on his mechanics next spring.
  17. 1B and SS or 3B are set. C is passable and controllable for a while. 2B- Javy, Alcantara, Russell 3B- KB, Russell, Javy SS- Russell, Javy(if Starlin is at 3B) LF- Schwarber, Soler, KB, Javy, McKinney CF- Alcantara, Almora RF- KB, Soler If 3 spots are filled currently and we add Castillo, conceivably it'd leave Javy, KB, Russell, Alcantara, Soler, Almora, Schwarber, and McKinney going after 4 spots. I can see them moving guys early, but I think they'll try and find the right mix of this group as our longtime lineup.
  18. I'll be surprised if they don't attempt to use the all homegrown for a bit. At the first sign of a weak link or two though, I think they'll be dealt off before losing a ton of value.
  19. Almora was more well thought of on draft day. For example, Baseball America rated Almora the 7th best prospect in the draft and Russell 28th. Isn't ba notoriously bad at ranking prospects. At least worse than actual experts? It's rare to see a large disagreement between BA, Kiley, Law, Crawford- I don't remember anyone having Russell THAT high. I do remember draft day rumors that Oakland was taking Pierce Johnson at 12.
  20. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/rusney-castillo-wows-miami-workout/ Details on his workout.
  21. C Castillo Lopez 1B Rizzo Olt 2B Bonifacio Watkins SS Castro Javy 3B Valbuena KB LF Ruggiano Szczur CF Alcantara Brett RF Schierholtz Soler If they played 20 games and it was Wood/Hendricks each time, I'd go 13-7 or 12-8 for the major league team.
  22. "We have determined that keeping our group of youngsters healthy, performing well, and still giving ourselves the optimum shot at losing the rest of the year is our best course of action. If a player misses a few games, it's to gain any adavantage possible in obtaining the overall top pick next season." Theodore Epstein Esq.
