  1. He's been Javy to us all ever since he was drafted and certainly since he started doing WTF he wants. I'm not changing.
  2. I'm not re-reading the whole thread. What is this Javi stuff?
  3. Dude, you're chance of getting added to the 40 man this offseason is basically the same as McNutt's. Depending on how they're throwing, Cates and Pineyro have a shot. Jokisch almost definitely will be added. Cervenka has a shot, especially if Rosscup isn't looking like an answer . At any rate, I'm not sweating it if we lose a guy or two at this point. But I'm not seeing much that seems realistic a team could keep all year.
  4. I don't remember the majority of those folks? Which ones were actually well thought of?
  5. ugh Had a baby girl
  6. Fujikawa not getting activated today.
  7. Parker optioned for Javy.
  8. 2 guys getting sent down or dealt.
  9. Is this your first August? Honestly didn't remember/know that. dafuq Sorry, didn't equate that it'd be different than pre-August. Brain fart. As it is, I think that a claim costs money to make. I wonder if its possible he's already cleared without having a claim put on him?
  10. Is this your first August? Honestly didn't remember/know that.
  11. Why does that suck? Think the Rockies will take a shot at him first? The Cubs are second in the waiver order. They always need pitching, I'd be kind of shocked if they don't.
  12. Brett is saying I'm wrong. He says they have to pass thru first because its August. If so, that sucks.
  13. Jacob Turner isn't getting traded for Gleyber Torres. Especially if we are the team that wins the claim on him and are the only team they can negotiate with... That's not how that works. They've got 7 days to put him thru waivers now. They'd much prefer to trade him prior to being forced to deal with the highest claiming team.
  14. Jacob Turner isn't getting traded for Gleyber Torres. Especially if we are the team that wins the claim on him and are the only team they can negotiate with... Meant Daurio, spelled Torrez wrong.
  15. What I meant is if we try to trade anyone on OUR 40 man for him, that or those players have to go unclaimed prior to being dealt. In other words, a team trading for him likely does so with non-40 man guys.
  16. This ain't getting to a waiver claim, there'll be plenty of interest in him and he'll get traded. Keep in mind, anyone being dealt has to pass thru waivers and go unclaimed. Also keep in mind it's at least very likely Hernandez and Amaya are probably earmarked for the Red Sox(Doubront, assuming at least one goes unpicked next year). My guess is it'll take something like Candelario or Torres as the main piece and maybe Jokisch or something like that. At any rate, this is something that's fallen into our laps. We need to make this happen. I'm not sure you can handle a pitcher much worse than how he's been. This is the best potential flyer we've seen show up on waivers in quite a while.
  17. Olt needs AB's. He has discipline, I'm not worried about the lack of walks. He's obviously lost upside, but he still can be a nice power bat off the bench possibly. This is his first success at AAA. He's not totally done yet. Nor does what he's doing put a damper what the others are doing. Him hitting a bit is a good thing, not a negative.
  18. If Arrieta is THIS(3.3 fWAR in 98 innings) we definitely can compete next year with this roster, assets in the minors to use and trade, and 40-50 mill of available payroll to spend. [expletive], Arrieta doesn't even have to be THIS.(but damn, that'd be [expletive] nice)
  19. I don't want to trade Javy, KB, Alcantara, Russell,or Soler. If we trade off prospects, let it be from some package of a few of Almora, Schwarber, Vogelbach, McKinney and Villanueva. That's still better than the vast majority of teams have to offer.
  20. Yes, sign him. He's young and versatile. We've got plenty of payroll room to add him and pitching too. C Castillo 1B Rizzo 2B Javy SS Starlin 3B Valbuena with KB up in late April LF Rusney CF Alcantara RF Soler Ruggiano as 4th OF 2016 Opening Day C Castillo 1B Rizzo 2B Javy SS Russell 3B Starlin LF KB CF Rusney RF Soler Utility Alcantara
  21. I believe in Javy, it's him. He's our guy. Longterm, he's our best player. The fucked up thing though, is I'd lay money on each of that group to become solid starters at even odds. 5 WAR season by 2016 though? Alcantara, KB, Javy, Soler, Russell
  22. I could see Villanueva getting dealt and Javy taking his spot. Going back to 12 pitchers.
  23. Bat him 6th to start maybe?
  24. @RandallJSanders: I assume Theo and Jed walked into a control room, inserted twin key cards into an enclosed console, nodded at each other and said "LAUNCH"
  25. Can't stop smiling.
