  1. He's a top 10 org guy for at least 20 teams, probably 25. He certainly still has a shot at becoming a starting 1B at the major league level, just not for us.
  2. Yes. But I get the sense half of you wouldn't trade the Astros for the Angels right now. I honestly don't think you would. Even if PTR is broke and they [expletive] up the future TV rights, there's enough young talent already here to go on a Tampa type run, never breaking 100 mill in payroll. Outside of Trout and playing in a bigger market(but second fiddle), what do they have? And why would you take them?
  3. oh i [expletive] hate you so much The Matt Moore one pissed me off.
  4. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2014/05/a-brief-history-of-the-cubs-and-the-mlb-draft-3-stories-on-how-fate-affected-the-cubs-pick/
  5. The Yankees(and Dodgers) are scavengers. They often trade for higher priced guys just to keep from giving up prospects, by offering some financial help.
  6. Nah, the fact they're on the 40 man hurts. We'll DFA them and someone MAY take a flyer with a 40 man spot, but I'm not sure of it at this point. Pedigree says someone will, but if so, I doubt they last long. No trade value at all though.
  7. If they took 2-12 of the 2-22 he's got left after this year, they can have him for free.
  8. BA had Lindsey in their preseason top 100. He's likely lost some luster this year and they were higher on him than the others. Rondon is the best player they gave up, he's got a shot at being a top 100 type after the season. Alvarez throws 100 MPH and has been excellent in AA as a reliever. To me, it'd be like giving up McKinney, Vogelbach, and Rivero from a value standpoint out of our system. Which would infuriate me, if we were trading that group for Street.
  9. Maybe so, but being comped to Ellsbury, Gardner, and Lofton isn't exactly shabby. His versatility fits very well too. Not to mention, this wouldn't knock us out on Tomas anyway.
  10. I'd love to add him, get a jump on FA.
  11. They gave up a lot for Street. He's having a great year for sure, but they just emptied their shitty system for him.
  12. I'd be trying right now to get Javy locked up longterm. 6 years, with a couple of options. I hope we give him September anyway, to help get his initial struggles out of the way. Cool that Mooney thinks Soler may get an audition too.
  13. If Joey Gallo were a Cub, we'd be scared beyond shitless of him.
  14. Wada went 6, gave up 3 hits, a run, a walk, and K'd 10. I hope he's given first shot at the 5th spot.
  15. At best, he's in the very end of my top 20. Definitely not top 15. Barely top 30 for me. even with his last couple months? the turn-around's been pretty staggering. It's just the age for me. I'd probably jump him 5-10 spots if he got promoted and continued this at Daytona. I hope he gets a chance soon.
  16. At best, he's in the very end of my top 20. Definitely not top 15. Barely top 30 for me.
  17. Tseng final line: 6IP 1H 0R 1W 3K
  18. I'm not advocating trading for Price, but we most definitely will start adding long term pitching solutions and it doesn't appear it's going to be youngsters. If for no other reason than our payroll is going to allow for it. And no, I don't see us giving up 3-4 top 100 types( including an elite guy) for Stanton.
  19. This is the basic risk/reward here for Aiken..... Turn down 5 mill(where your arm is likely already insured for that anyway) for the opportunity to gain 35-40 mill. At 4 or 5-1 odds against(guess) With worst case being he gets 3 mill next year instead of the 5 he turned down.(based on Hoffman's TJS bonus from Jays)
  20. I wonder what type of grievance gets filed here? You have to figure they'll attempt to get free agency anyway. If MLB has anything to do with it, it won't happen. But this is going to get extremely interesting. I'd love to see the Astros get penalized for reneging with Nix.
  21. Can we not pre-emptively credit our FO for the Astros success in addition to our own as of now unrealized success? Not really what I was going for, but we are the 1st team on the "[expletive] taking pitching high" train. It's easy to see other teams adopting that too. But you're right, we truly don't know if it'll work or not.
  22. The numbers are wrong there. If they had kept their 6.5 offer to Aiken, they STILL had money for Nix. They blew it up because they offered 5, trying to get Marshall in the fold too. The only reason to do this over 1.5 mill is a shift in strategy.
