  1. Gotta think so. Get him full time AB's.
  2. I think Lasorda's stuff trumps everyone.
  3. Clifton was a top 5 round talent that fell due to bonus demands and being a bit rawer than what teams felt they could spend their early round slot money on.
  4. So you're advocating dumping Castillo then? Because its obvious bed be gone if anyone had given us what we wanted. If we must set up a situation where there is no room at all between "dump" and "take even one penny less than we want," then yes I'd prefer dumping him. Until it becomes a problem that's costing us games, I'm fine with it. Maddon seems to be doing all right navigating things. Jackson likely is gone when Wada comes back. Hopefully Schlitter goes down and Russell comes up. Then swap Herrera out with Szczur and that's fairly ideal in my mind for May.
  5. So you're advocating dumping Castillo then? Because its obvious he'd be gone if anyone had given us what we wanted.
  6. Turner moved to 60 day. I kind of wish we could have kept him up, but he'll be back soon enough, Im guessing.
  7. Awesome. I wonder if they'd have done it on Day 1 if not for the injuries?
  8. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-international-signing-market-part-2/ Yep. If we've gone this far, I'd love to keep piling on now and grab a few more. Can't really complain though, that's a solid amount of money thrown towards the future.
  9. Unless they're scared of a draft next year, I really wish we'd wait it out and be the big spenders next year on Maitin and that group. But by naming us on 2 guys at a combined 3.5 and saying "many targets" for us, it seems like we're the team committing 7.5 to 6 guys, as he's mentioned a team has done. Going in with lots of money is obviously good, but I was hoping if we were going to go that route, it'd have been with getting more of what's considered the elite guys, as with Jimenez and Torres.
  10. I vote hot Casanova and feel bad because its not nearly enough.
  11. Just activate Denorfia and have LaStella/Alcantara both play. Sucks for Olt, I still have hope......
  12. http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/04/08/milton-bradley-domestic-abuse-mlb-monique-bradley Holy [expletive], what an awful human being.
  13. Disappointing. Cold weather, perhaps? Or maybe a way to limit early season innings since he's obviously not throwing a full seasons worth after last year?
  14. Johnny, thanks a ton and welcome! Love the approach and the fact that they did as much as they could in a year they had limitations. I'm still waiting to see if we have already went "all in" this upcoming signing period. Obviously, there's a chance we are the team that signed 6 for 7.5 mill(Kiley mentioned it again today with no team attached). I prefer we sign a solid class this year and go all in next year when there's less competition on Maitin, Gutierrez, and/or whoever else. As for Mexico, I think the way it works there is the player gets a 20/80 split. Or maybe 25/75. At any rate, I think Urias got around 400k while the Dodgers actual outlay was 2 mill or so. I think they packaged a few other guys into the deal too, but that was the gist. What I definitely remember though is that only the part going to the player counted against the IFA cap.
  15. I'll put this here.....AZPhil mentioned guys getting moved down in minor league camp today. The important ones were CJ, Black, Villanueva, Bruno, Vogelbach, and Schwarber to Tennessee. Candelario, Caratini, and McKinney to Myrtle Beach. Torres and Stinnett to South Bend. Jimenez and Mitchell to EXST Almora left the game today with a knee injury, limped to the clubhouse.
  16. As far as Olt goes, I'm thinking he's got an actual chance to turn into a long term piece for us. Doubt he'll start, but as a power bat off the bench, filling in at 1B/3B/LF/RF. Szczur? Great spring training, but think 25th man is about what his upside is.
  17. Anyone able to share Badler's piece on our IFA stuff from last year? Looks like we signed 47 guys and 17 to 6 figure bonuses. Which is pretty good in strength/numbers obviously.
  18. Manfred basically just told Boras to [expletive] off in regards to spewing off on Bryant.
  19. We have no true idea how any team values anyone in our system. Hell, I'd be pissed if we traded Russell for a guy like Shark if the situations were to have been reversed. I would have wanted a guy better than him. What we DO know though, is Rivero is 27 and was one of the first cuts we made this spring. So evidently the team he plays for doesn't appear to value him all that highly. He may very well get a call up at some point in the season and help us, but to think he's got true trade value on his own seems awfully homeristic, based on scouting a stat line and nothing else. Because it seems like he'd be there competing for a spot still if he was ready to be successful in the majors.
  20. Same.
  21. Jimenez went 3-3 with a HR and a W yesterday and AZPhil thinks he may start at South Bend.
  22. RJ and Ron Hunter on the DP Show. Worth a listen.
