  1. Laden or unladen? You just catapulted me off the bridge, I think.
  2. It doesn't make much sense why he was tendered a contract. Wood that is Because he has trade value. I'll consider it a giant win if we get back something equivalent to what we gave up for Montero. My guess is its something in the realm of what we got for Ruggiano.
  3. What's the airspeed velocity of an African Swallow?
  4. I forgot about Wada, Wood is a goner.
  5. I think Alcantara is going to play all over and get 500+ AB's without having a set position. And I'm pretty confident he's going to be very good at it.
  6. I don't think we're trading Alcantara. They said today how Maddon lights up just thinking of all the flexibility he gives us.
  7. Yeah, I'll be shocked if Hendricks isn't our 4. My guess is Doubront winds up as our LHRP and Turner is our 5th SP(unless we keep Wood)with Jaxon being DFA'd during ST.
  8. If we're truly up against the budget, as Mooney has mentioned a few times, I suspect a wood to be dealt. Wood+Valbuena basically equals Fowler from a salary standpoint. Castillo's trade could then conceivably include an arbitration type of LHRP as part of the return. I think we're just shuffling players and money around to better fit our 2015 season right now.
  9. My guess is Alcantara gets two weeks of full time starts at 3B. If Javy starts the year off in Iowa, then LaStella starts at 2B or Alcantara does, if Olt looks like he's not completely blind. Either way, KB will be up quick as hell.
  10. I don't look at this as some big "win" for Boras. I know Scherzer got paid, but it's not a CK type of deal, as some are saying. Especially since Kershaw didn't hit the open market. Not to mention the deferment.
  11. Jed was asked specifically about Washington's pitching earlier today. He paused for a while, before saying he thinks that this is, more or less, what we expect to head to spring training with.
  12. We've got soooooo [expletive] many trade chips to use at the deadline. Our fun has begun.
  13. I hate saying it, but I don't think our FO would entertain moving Russell in a Strasburg deal. Thinking that our window is just opening, longterm still means more than next 2 seasons. Especially with counting on the rookies and all. They'll have their opportunity on Strasburg in 2 years. Boras is his agent, he's not signing before then. If Javy could somehow be the lead piece, it's probably a different story. But I doubt he'd fit that bill currently.
  14. It's cloooooose. $15m or whatever? I think he'd pass on that, maybe? I think I'd like it if he did. Getting a 2nd season out of him would be just fine with me.
  15. Passan brought up that if Fowler has a halfway decent year, he'll net us a comp pick.
  16. Why is he not looking for non human talent?
  17. 7/210 per Rosenthal. Deferred-getting 15 per for 14 years.
  18. I liked Valbuena, but this gives Alcantara his at bats, in my mind. Which I'm OK with.
  19. Well, if they hold onto Zimmermann, it wouldn't be the worst thing for us. Shields signing with Milwaukee would also play into our hands in getting Zimmermann next year.
  20. Played at Harvard, majored in economics.
  21. I love Javy and even I'll say not even a remote possibility to that. It's going to take time with him.
  22. Bard didn't allow a hit this year in the 2/3 of an inning he pitched. He also K'd a guy in A Ball for the Rangers. Of course, I guess he could stand to work on his control a tad, as he hit 7 and walked 9, which may have helped lead to what appears to be a slightly inflated ERA of 1.75. I mis-typed, his ERA was 175.50. Yes, 175.50.
  23. Looks like averagish last year, but a fair amount below average the year before.
  24. Charlie Blackmon is supposedly available for starting pitching.
  25. Biggest laugh I've had on here in a while.
