If I were voting for 3 right now, it'd be Johnson, Almora, and Underwood.

It's a [expletive] great problem to have. Most teams would be excited as hell to have Alcantara as a SS option right now and he's not even a realistic middle infield option for us, much less SS.

Lester is top 3 in CY voting, Arrieta is good, not great. Hammel struggles, Hendricks is our 2nd best SP. 5th spot is problematic until a David Price trade happens, as Detroit falls out of contention.(Almora, P Johnson, Torres) Rondon and Grimm are solid, we hate Motte very early, and CJ becomes our set up guy down the stretch to rave reviews. Javy starts in AAA, with LaStella at 2B. Javy comes up in June and puts up a .700 OPS rest of season, reducing K's to 33%. KB puts up a Longoria ROY type season. Soler is OK, .750ish OPS. Alcantara puts up a 4WAR season. Rizzo is widely known as a superstar, Castro is 2014 Castro. Montero and Fowler both play well enough to out produce their salary by a bit. Russell stays in AAA until September and only gets a few ML games under his belt, Schwarber joins him as a top 10 prospect, as he improves a ton behind the plate. Stinnett is easily our best pitching prospect by the end of the season. We spend a ton on IFA again. 89 wins, 1st in division. Beat Dodgers, lose to Nats in playoffs.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. I do know Javy was in the majors when Brett was in short season though. And I know that Javy has as good of bat speed as there is, while Brett's was questioned as to whether it'd play in the majors at all.

I don't think we'll sign another 100 mill arm. I think our next guy does come thru trade. But with acclimating our youngsters, I do not see us giving up value from our farm until we're at least on slightly firmer ground as to where our team stands. It's great seeing we were capable of giving Shields 3/60, so the money is there. But they likely would hesitate giving up value for an arm in a year that still MAY not see us contending. If we ARE, I'd think we're going to add something major during the season to help out.

Javy is too boom or bust right now to be a centerpiece. Almora needs a bounceback to regain value. It's extremely rare for a team to trade for a package led by guys losing value.

I think we get Darvish at the deadline. I think Amaro will be fired before Hamels is dealt from that franchise.

I don't even care if the Cubs aren't playing fair and throwing their weight around (if that is even true), if those [expletive] rooftops somehow stop those boards from going up before opening day, I really really hope people somehow organize a boycot of those rooftops. As long as the Cubs aren't "encouraging" it, I'd love to see it happen. Can't imagine they can do a damn thing if the Cubs aren't involved in it.

Haven't seen Yadier Alvarez mentioned yet . 18 year old P, just defected, hits 97 with a plus slider. If he were in the draft, there's scouts saying he'd go top 10. Not sure Kiley meant he'll sign prior to July 2nd or not, (may have thought he was someone named Rivera when he tweeted it). But did say expectation was it'll take him a month or two to gain eligibility. This is the guy we need to get held up a bit for whatever reason and make it to next class. -
Oh well, Pads are getting him after all, 4 years with a 5th year option.

God, I'm glad we got Lester, this one is more of a topper than hanging on every tweet mentioning anything on it. Padre fans get genuinely pissed if another destination is even brought up. Whether we get him or not, I want him to go somewhere other than SD.(and STL obviously)

It seems like most of the time any team is known as the "prohibitive favorite", they miss out. Not that I think we're very serious honestly. But I won't be surprised if he goes somewhere other than San Diego.

I've been under the impression(from Mooney) we were capped out and actually wanted/needed to move Castillo and maybe Wood, to get to budget. However, as TT said, just use the Moncada money. We were obviously planning on bidding, if he's dead set on signing soon-it makes sense that we snoop around on Shields now.

I like how the Scherzer deal is structured but is Shields the right guy for the same structure? In other words- I think the Cubs are better off using this deal for a greater talent - like next year. I was thinking if we did something like this on Shields, we'd still be able to go after an elite arm next year as well.
