  1. I'd be OK with that. But it'd give us 3 long guys in the pen. Something's gotta give there at some point.
  2. btw - there's several names between the ones I listed and EJM. Yasiel Sierra perhaps? Other pitching? So was Sanchez being used as a hype mouthpiece? That's about all I can take from those comments on Martinez....
  3. It looks like yesterday he said to expect it today. He's also retweeted Murray and Rosenthal, seemingly as validation of his story. That said, if you're going to say something is done, it's a hell of a lot different than saying teams are talking. It seems like he heard a bit of gossip and ran with it.
  4. Thanks Tim. That's kind of what I suspected(with Sierra included probably). But with the nice group of IFA's we've supposedly signed already-add one of those pitchers to it?(not Alvarez since he appears to be a Dodger) and grab Fox.....It turns into one hell of a class we've brought in. Edit-Damn, forgot about Martinez. Especially since he's supposedly the top guy period.
  5. The article is behind a paywall. Any BA subscribers around that want to get into some some copyright infringement? Mostly, I just want to know who he's saying would be a first rounder and where. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Yeah, this is all I'm kind of looking for too. There's nothing wrong with giving out that info, is there?
  6. According to one of the Phils best writers,(Salibury) the Cubs aren't on his NTC. If so, that puts a damper on this guy being all that plugged into anything remotely definitive.
  7. Wittman from BP was very impressed at Underwood's start. Said he'll make a very strong case for him on their mid season top 100.
  8. I was definitely skeptical, but I do think this guy heard something. It's obvious that he jumped the gun on it being done, but with this Rosenthal report coming out, at least there was some smoke there.
  9. Yeah, I saw that and figure this is how he's gotten there. Our entire spending allotment is 7.597,905. That's with the 5% overage..... 1) Happ-2.7 2)Dewees-1.28 3) Hudson-1.000 4) Wilson-.600 5) Kellogg-.300 6-10)-.100 combined 5.980 spent, leaving 1.5 and change for today. I guess we'll know if this is the case based on what we do in 11-15.
  10. Tyler Graham who I've never heard of, picked up 2 PAs with the D-Backs in 2012 ETA: He didn't sign with us though(drafted by and signed with the Giants the following year)so not sure if that'd count. Looks like he was a September call-up strictly to be a pinch runner. Damn, never heard of him either.
  11. Veal did. If anyone else did, I don't remember it.
  12. I think a good bit will be decided on whether Happ is 250 or 500 under.....I can see Hudson signing at a mill(taking up the 250), but it's also conceivable he signs at slot, in my opinion. He's an Illinois kid anyway, it wouldn't shock me, at least. But I figure it's a mill or so. I'm hoping Wilson signs for slot, the Vandy thing worries me though. At any rate, with 5 straight senior signs, plus Happ, Im hopeful we've got room for one Sands, DeMers type.
  13. Yes, Turner was a 1st rounder by Detroit. Was rushed to the bigs and has shown flashes of putting it together at times. Has always had good stuff, just hasn't missed many bats so far. I'm very excited to see this, especially following his EXST reports too.
  14. Our total draft amount is much less than last years, so even if we do get Happ at under slot, we won't have the ability to give 3 HS arms big overages like we did last year. That said, I'm expecting one anyway and don't think it's Hudson, based on where he was picked. We may be waiting until the 11th to take one though, if we're not covered completely signability-wise now.
  15. Can anyone give the highlights of Badler's new Cuban piece? Evidently goes into depth on this one, saying what range they'd go in the draft, if they were in it.....
  16. Hard to bitch about Happ, I feel if Aiken's meds looked decent, we'd have taken him.
  17. Does this guy have any credibility whatsoever? I don't even follow him and I thought I followed anyone worth a [expletive] for Cubs stuff..... Edit:David read my mind and answered before I even asked
  18. We're going to spend a ton in IFA and we may not even HAVE a 1st rounder next year, so if they think Aiken's meds are remotely solid, I'd take him and run.
  19. God [expletive] dammit Hurts on so many levels..... Damn near a wasted season for him, this happening right when he was putting it together. Extremely unlikely to be tradeable at deadline now. [expletive] this.
  20. It looks like they've got around 8 mill or so already committed this year. They're going over. One of the worst things you can do down there is welch on deals. The handlers truly lose interest in doing business with you. Plus, with as many Cubans defecting as there seems to be, going over is going to put us in a very small group with the ability to get them. As much as I love the idea of Maitan, we're obviously headed in a different direction.
  21. thats why you let guys like jr lake do it But it's likely not Junior they throw at. It's the guy coming into the box next. And in some cases, the real [expletive] teams just throw at your best guys.
  22. I like bat flips, slow trots, all that stuff.....Unfortunately, the guys PLAYING baseball are as meatbally as they come. Doing that kind of stuff could eventually get Rizzo or KB plunked. If it caused them to miss any time, then that [expletive] just isn't worth doing. I like it, but the risk is too great in my mind.
