    Fred sold (gave?) me a pair of tickets to a day game. He was in the Schaumburg area so I drove out there with my sister and met him at a local diner to pick them up. The drive took so long that we were actually going to be late to the game if I didn't hurry. Fred was such a nice guy that he wanted to have breakfast together and chat baseball, but I didn't have time so we settled on coffee. I remember him mentioning CubManPi too. RIP, Fred.

    I'm guessing it sticks out in his mind like Geovany Soto's HR in the 07 NLDS sticks out in my mind as a brief awesome moment within a [expletive] ass series And Dero in '08. That's unfortunately not the Dero playoff moment that sticks out for me.

    There's no way Romo isn't putting something on that ball. His pre-pitch routine is insane.

    agreed... he's a little bit of an acquired taste, i think, though. at least, for me, when he first got hired, i hated his voice. he had to win me over with the things he said. His voice and HR call are annoying (*pinches nose* "A three. Run. Hohmurr") but he's a really really good broadcaster. The back and forth banter with JD is also phenomenal, even though he seems to get a lot of his takes from Twitter/boards. They talk about analytics but in an approachable, unpretentious way. I don't get how anyone could hate them as a broadcast team.
