  1. I thought about him too, but he's just as big of an injury risk, more expensive, right handed, and older. I'd say his availability level is greater than Drew's though. Any way the Tigers throw in Carlos Guillen? Was he hurt for the first half of last season, or the second half? He'll be 32 in January, for the record. He came back from his knee injury for spring training, then suffered a sports hernia. After missing 1/2 off the beginning of the season, he came back and hit somewhere around .300. If memory serves, he had about a 20-25 game hit streak in the second half of the year. Yeah, something like that... his numbers have been very good. I wouldn't be opposed if Detroit ate some of his contract, but it would definately be a risk. Are you talking about Maggs or Guillen? Maggs is way overpaid, stunk in 05, and wasn't special in 04 either. I wouldn't want him. He's overpaid, sure, but don't tell me he stunk.

  3. If we don't get Lugo we should apologize to Nomar and beg him to come back for cheap.

  5. Yes, I'm beaming :D
  6. Ok, here's the $100,000 question then for those of you who think Grossman will be QB by the season's end: If we run the table over the next four, will Grossman be subbed in?
  7. Georgia moved to -9, and PSU went to 8. I am sure they will move quite a bit in the next month. The over/under for the Rose Bowl is 71! So my completely in jest 83 over/under for the Sun Bowl might actually be true? [/b]
  8. Most of the speculation I'd seen had Michigan going to the Outback Bowl instead of Iowa. It is funny to see them in the Alamo Bowl against a bad team like Nebraska. The Iowa to the Outback Bowl news broke last night, I believe. I'm not really sure what the reasoning behind it is, though. The reasoning over NU would be $$$ and fanbase, but yeah, why were they chosen over Mich? It's ok though, El Paso is nice this time of year and I'm in need of a vacation. ...Oh and we can set the Sun Bowl's over/under at 83  Edited: Didn't make sense 1st time around
  9. Right, he does suck. But that wasn't the question. We're winning with him as quarterback because he's not losing games. I don't think the coaching staff changes anything until he starts losing games for us.
  10. Alex Brown should be listed
  11. Orton. Grossman should get a shot, but until the Bears lose badly at the hands of Orton (say, a 5 pick performance), he'll be the QB.
  12. No one would listen because he wouldn't report bogus and "exciting" trade proposals. The Score always has these stupid reports which force people to listen. NSBB Poster: The Score just reported (insert trade so ridiculous, you'd have to hear it to believe it was actually reported) Us: No way! I'm gonna listen! (Tune in)... That's so stupid! It's gotta be some brilliant marketing strategy
  13. I <3 Rodman. Wasnt his name like Rodzilla or somthing to that effect. HAHAHA, I didn't even watch wrestling and at lunch one day some kid was like RODMAN GOT CHOKESLAMMED!
  14. I said Morgan also because both are often regarded as the "face" of the analysts in their respectivt sports, as much as many fans dislike each of them.
  15. My heart stopped for a split second EDIT:  :D
  16. I hope not, but he'll probably get in. When he was good, he was good, but I don't think he was good for long enough.
  17. I don't think Atlanta will make the playoffs, to be honest. It's Seattle, until proven otherwise.
  18. To me overpaying is paying more money to a single player than the franchise can afford. This means paying more than the player contributes to winning, spending too much when comparable cheaper options are available, weakening other positions by spending too much on one position. Market value is not necessarily relevant. If you need Furcal to win the WS, then you should spend as much as you can and need to, to get him regardless of market value. If he only adds 3 wins to a 77 win team, then perhaps he isn't worth as much. So more like salary as a percentage of a team's payroll while factoring in other needs to be fufilled. If the Yankees signed Furcal for $60 mil over five years, it wouldn't be overpaying, because technically, they would still have payroll room to fill in other holes. Fair enough.
  19. Do you consider 18-1 undefeated? Then no. There's a significant chance they can go 16-0, but I still think that Cincy, Chicago or Carolina can potentially beat them in a playoff matchup. I highly doubt Chicago could beat them. If they came to play like they did against my Panthers they could beat just about anybody. Thanks for the respect, ND. :D I said yes, but only because I bet my friend they would when they were 6-0. It's unlikely, but I'd love to see it happen.
  20. Not trying to start an argument, but what is the definition of "overpaying" in the face of the market equilibrium price? If $10 mil/year for 5 years is overpaying, what is a fair price for Furcal?
  21. I can't wait to hear Scoop Jackson comment on this move "White GM Replaces Dark-Skinned Utility Man With White Man Who Plays Less Positions" EDIT: But yes, I think it's a pretty good move :D
  22. I think there is no denying that Jagger is hideous. But it's a well know fact that musicians have a knack for getting the babes. I should've learned to play the guitar. #-o Yes, ugly musicians can get the girls So can ugly athletes, businessmen, lawyers, etc. Dumb, pretty girls follow the money.
  23. I really miss Sammy :( Even though we lost the game on Lowell's popup HR, that is one of my favorite Cub moments of all time :D
