  1. Bert...
  2. Welcome to the board! and yes, he can be pretty fun to watch.
  3. Hahahaha so true. What a great Sosa story. Yeah, I haven't heard of anything bad about him with a fan... those seem to be the exception. I'm sure you all already know this but I LOVE SAMMY. Hahaha
  4. I don't have a problem with Happy Holidays, but there is a recent trend to stay away from saying Merry Christmas. Many don't understand that Christmas is an official national holiday... just like Martin Luther King Jr Day. From a secular standpoint: Just as we celebrate King's birthday because he was a worthy and influential historical figure, celebrating the birthday of Jesus of Nazareth is somehow inappropriate? Did Jesus' teachings have no influence on our nation's history? We separate church and state, but to say that they have not would be foolish, imo.
  5. Yeah me too. How can you not love the guy?
  6. I remember almost falling over when you first put that up. You should keep it.. for memory's sake
  7. It was more than "a few changes". It was a new coach, new personel, and no injuries. When you're a top collegiate program, you tend to recruit the top high school players. And of course, some of those wins were against bad programs who could only get bad hs players. USC is awesome, no doubt. 35-0 is also REALLY impressive, but you have to factor in the garbage teams they beat over that stretch: Washington, Washington St., Colorado St., Hawaii, Arkansas, ND (when they sucked), BYU (which hasn't been great lately), even Stanford. That's about 15 games right there. In pro sports, some teams are better than others, but no team is "garbage". Even the league's best team does not post stats THAT much better than the league averages. In college sports, it's not the same. It wasn't clear that i was arguing for the colts?  Apparantly not. Anyway, how was my argument? Well, aside from the fact that lovie was hired in 2004... Oh, yes I know. But I was trying to convey the combination of new coach AND no injuries led to their success. Anyway, my bad

  9. Vance, why Weaver? He's coming off a down year and I think his salary is something like $3M more than Washburn's. Washburn looked good last year. Also, Washburn's a lefty. I think after the offers come in, Weaver will be the better bargain. I also think Weaver has better stuff than Washburn. That's more personal observation than anything definitive. While Weaver made more in 2005, I don't think he will in 2006. Finally, I'm not of the persuasion that we have to have a lefty in the rotation. I dont think we HAVE to have a lefty, but it'd sure come in handy. I'm not against having Weaver for the right price, but his numbers aren't very settling.

  12. That is a very REALISTic point of view I wholeheartedly agree. Also annoying are those "let's trade some crappy players for Abreu! Philly will do it because they'll get rid of all that salary!!!" It's done. Maybe not the best deal, but it's done. Go Cubs! P.S. IMB, I can't stop laughing at that Dusty loop. I find it incredibly funny for some odd reason.
  13. According to WBBM radio, Orton's starting @ Pitt, but Grossman is #2 now.
  14. Colts. EVERY TEAM in the NFL can beat any other team. College is not the same way.
  15. It's funny, I just expect Urlacher to be ridiculously good every season. I didn't even look at his numbers this year yet.. WOW. Definately gets my vote.
  16. Here's hoping Milton wasn't listening to AM720. Wow, those clowns all but smacked his grandma in the face. They are horribly down on him. If we get Bradley, the Chicago media is going to be merciless. Boers and Bernstein were BEGGING for Bradley today on behalf of all columnists and talk show hosts in town. Yea its going to be bad. What a bunch of bs too. I will lose what respect I have for the CHicago media if they rip him before he even gets here. I dont remember them ripping Carl Everett like they have been Bradlely. To be fair, Everett had disagreements with his manager and said the Boston fans were racist. Bradley allegedly choked his pregnant wife on separate occasions. To be fair, why not give the guy a chance in the city of Chicago before they start calling him everything but an axe murderer which is what they have been doing. Yeah, and Scottie Pippen used to beat up his girlfriend. Should we not retire his number this Friday? All I care about is performance on the field. I may not like the guy, but if he can help us win, im fine with it.
  17. Haha anyone listening? They just "reported" that Matt Murton had a tuna sandwich for lunch today.
  18. I honestly prefer this place to Cards Talk. Yeah, more people post there, but for the most part, they're morans. Instead of realists, I like to call them "real-less." Come on, how did this go unnoticed?
  19. I wouldn't cry if we signed Tejada - I've always been a fan. However, I'm a little surprised at my fellow NSBBers approving of having him on the team... the guy doesn't walk! :D
  20. Bradley please... Glad to see Dusty's doing what he's supposedly good at.
