  1. What about Barry Larkin? I can't find any numbers to confirm, but he always seemed to kill us. Also, a lot of people hate Sammy, I dont think he was mentioned.
  2. Actually, one was Edward K., Indianapolis
  3. I'm not even mad anymore... it's just... :(
  4. 1998 redeems him a bit, don't you think?
  5. That's crazy... while in the shower this morning I thought to myself, "I wonder if there's a Cub-Killer thread" Yes, I do some excellent thinking in the shower.
  6. You might be a redneck if... your wife is your first cousin you have a "shootin' car" you get paid in bulldozers
  7. I was just thinking about this last night: The bowl games take place over a month after the season ends - what kind of practice schedule are the teams working? GO CATS!
  8. NSBB makes you smarter
  9. He hit into DPs and wasn't the best fielder or baserunner, but I loved Alou on the Cubs. That 5 game series where he (nearly :D ) singlehandedly knocked Stl out of the playoffs will go down as one of the best Cubs performances in history. He even appeared to me in a dream telling me he was going to pick it up, and then hit three homeruns in the next 2 games or something.
  10. New nickname?
  11. How about all of those Abreu for Williams, Patterson, and some other garbage we don't want. All because the Phillies want to cut payroll trades?
  12. Offensive levels in Ruth's era were actually pretty high. From 1920 to 1940 the typical AL OPS was around .750, give or take 20-30 points. From 1995-present the typical AL OPS has been centered around .775 or so, though that's with a DH. A better comparison to Ruth's era would be the NL where having the pitcher bat drags down the league average. From 1995-present the league-wide NL OPS has typicaly been in the same .750 range as it was in Ruth's heyday. Yeah, I actually just heard that from somone. That's interesting. I guess I was thinking homeruns. In 1927 Ruth finished with 60, Gehrig was second with 47 and the next closest guy wound up with 18. The next year he finished with 54 and Gehrig was the next closest with 28. Ridiculous.
  13. Yeah, especially considering what the leage avg numbers were at the time. He wasn't hitting in the power era of the 90s, that's for sure.
  14. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3). When it is mixed with an acid liquid it releases the gas carbon dioxide (CO2): NaHCO3 + H+ -----> Na+ + H2O + CO2 CO2 = carbonated = baking SODA is used to make SODA Furthermore, pop is a verb and an onomatopoeia - not a beverage. Coke I can understand a little more, because we use brand names a lot. Like Puffs vs Kleenex as was said. Also, I don't clean my ears with "cotton swabs", they're Q-Tips. Who uses a "bandage" when they can use a "Band-Aid"?

  16. Yeah, I have. It's pretty cool. And yes, 2005 is the past, in that it's a baseball game that came out last year. They just have optional stadiums you can play in that are supposedly "future" versions of them.
  17. Haha, that's true. Is that implying that it's easier to ride a winning horse to victory than it is to drive the best car to victory? I've never ridden a horse or driven a really fast car, so I wouldn't know.
  18. Figure Skating, Gymnastics, Competitive cheerleading are all difficult and athletic events, but are not sports. I think a criteria for a sport is that your destiny is in your hands. Granted, you might have a couple bad calls in baseball or football, but in those three, it's all judges. If a judge doesn't like you, you don't win. Look at the Canadian figure skater couple in the 02 winter games or the men's highbar competition in Athens. So that's why I put NASCAR as a sport.
  19.
  20. That sounds pretty cool.
  21. Or just hit ctrl + Is that the keyboard shortcut? I was too lazy to experiment to figure it out. Yes, it is. And ctrl - fixes things back. That's cool
  22. Bastille McSteal and I donno, Big Red's fine
