  1. I think this was posted in the minor league forum before, but who cares. The thing about this that really surprised me was they gave Veal the best curveball, when he himself said that was his weak point. He started throwing it more towards the end of the year so if it is developed now he could be nasty (considering most of his early success was off the fastball and changeup). I was reading that if he snapped off a good one, it was pretty unhittable but that he was definately really inconsistant, so let's hope he's worked on it all summer.
  2. Hmm...I read that his slider was at 88. And then I also read that Shark told Barrett he would throw fastball and sinkers...so maybe they got the slider confused with the sinker or something? Either way im a little confused.
  3. September callup for the Shark? http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070228&content_id=184104&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp By the way, that link is to a recent breakdown of some players in our system, so it's a good read.
  4. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070303&content_id=1825519&vkey=spt2007news&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Samardizjia topped out at 98 and averaged 97, and broke 2 bats. Not too shabby.
  5. Brackman getting hit early. 2.2 IP so far, 4 hits (2 HR's), 3 ER, 2K.
  6. Good read. Talks about concentrating on throwing strikes this year and sacraficing a couple K's if it means he can go deeper into the game. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070302&content_id=1822462&vkey=spt2007news&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  7. Price: Complete game (9 IP), 7 hits, 2 ER, 13 K's. Weiters, if I remember right, was 3/5 today in a high scoring game. Brackman pitches tommorrow.
  8. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070228&content_id=184014&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp
  9. Big Murt where he belongs! Let's go Marquis! :D
  10. Damn, BuccoBlog broadcasted Price's last start via webcast for free...wish I would've known about that a little earlier.
  11. The 5 innings was predetermined... I wonder how long until they let him go a little later in games.
  12. Could the Royals go with a HS pitcher? http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/16678594.htm
  13. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070225&content_id=1815650&vkey=spt2007news&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc It'll be intersting to see if this affects his power significantly.
  14. Weiters 3/4 so far with 3 singles.
  15. Yep. As of right now i'm slightly hoping Brackman is our guy since I think his mechanics are better than Price's, plus the fact that his wingspan creates the effect of having extra 5-10 MPH on his fastball. A scouting report from a game last week said that he had some pretty insane control of his two seamer, so that's got to be a pretty nasty pitch coming at you at what looks to be 100 MPH. Price and Weiters will get my juices flowing as well.
  16. Though I wouldn't, the Mets make sense.
  17. http://mvn.com/mlb-cubs/2007/02/23/the-difference-a-day-makes/ Thanks to whoever posted the link to that site, because they have some great updates on what's going on.
  18. Here's a scout.com mock draft with commentary from a month ago. They have some interesting picks to say the least with St. Clair going 2nd and Brackman going 24th, but most of you will like this pick: http://athletics.scout.com/2/611811.html
  19. While i'm sure that's true since you've probably seen it, his profile at brewerfan.net (i'm pretty sure someone posted the site before...but it's great with a bunch of recent profiles on alot of prospects) made it seem like he's played very well at most showcase events again top flight pitchers. Plus it also mentions a good eye at the plate. http://www.brewerfan.net/images/playerpix/amateur/michael_burgess.jpg Here's the link to the brewerfan draft site that was posted earlier in the thread in case any one missed it, just click the name for the profiles. http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewDraftAmateurPlayerRanking.do?positionId=0&draftId=5 But of course i'm still taking Price, Weiters, Brackman before I sniff Burgess. Just saying I think he will pan out and not be Ryan Harvey the 2nd.
  20. Weiters 2/4 with 2 singles, 2 K's, 1 BB, 1 RBI.
  21. Weiters following up a bad game with a good one today, 2-2 so far with a HR and a double. Price is on the bump in 5 minutes.
  22. Got to love Felix's waking up at 6 am 3 days a week to run for an hour while dragging a tire through the sand of a beach. I guess he isn't a fan of new technology  But seriously, that is pretty sweet.
  23. Vandy takes the lead 3-1, so they might decide to pull Price now (though I don't know how many pitches he's thrown). Hell of a game though. Especially the 0 BB part. Edit: Price into the 7th... ground out then gave up a double
  24. Vandy won the 1st game (Price didn't pitch), so he should be going in the next one then (4 o'clock I think). And damn, Pedro Alvarez was 3/4 with 2 homers in the first game win, 11-1. Weiters (DH'ing) went 2-4 with a single, double, and sac fly (No K's or walks), and got the save.
