  1. Oh and the really huge positive is that he supposedly has great control and can paint some corners. Though i'm wondering why he isn't consensus top 5 if all of these things are true.
  2. I'm slowly jumping onto the Jarrod Parker bandwagon. Just about the only huge negative against him is he's a little small. Fastball tops out at 98 and works consistently at 95, has showed a plus curve already (though he doesn't use it often since he can blow hitters away), and shows potential for a plus change. HS coach is smart and has already said he knew Parker would have a future pro career so he was real careful with working his arm.
  3. May be wrong, but didn't BA do a piece on the California talent today? Vitters scouting report anyone? ...(if it was in fact today)
  4. This isn't a huge one, but here's my personal one. -Lefty. -Fastball sits around 92-94 and can get as high as 98. -Delivery is a little wierd but most likely won't be a huge concern. May get ironed out in the minors though. -Slider is nasty, definately his out pitch. -Change-up is above average with potential to get even better. -Control is very good. I wouldn't say it's great yet, but it's definately something that will be classified under the positives section when he's in the show. -Main negative is that Vandy throws him hard. His pitch totals have been known to get up there pretty high, so it leads some to question his future durability, even though it hasn't harmed him whatsoever so far.
  5. Ichiro: AVG .335 | HR 4 | RBI 20 | OBP .390 | SLG .457 Great start. Price would be steep. Think Pie and Guzman, IMO. Dye: AVG .235 | HR 10 | RBI 25 | OBP .292 | SLG .469 Tough to know what Williams would want. Baldelli: AVG .204 | HR 5 | RBI 12 | OBP .268 | SLG .358 Yuck. He's only making 750k this year though. Ibanez: AVG .280 | HR 1 | RBI 24 | OBP .329 | SLG .387 Meh. The price shouldn't be high. Lofton: AVG .262 | HR 4 | RBI 12 | OBP .343 | SLG .396 Not bad for a 39 yr old. Wouldn't cost too much to get either. I highly doubt Seattle takes that deal for Ichiro.
  6. I think it's about time we realize Jarrod Parker is a legit possibility at 3. Phil Rogers wrote a few days ago that we were scouting him hard (along with Vitters and either Moustakas or Dominguez...I can't remember), and Parker is most likely giving our scouts something to salivate over with his last outing:
  7. For those who can't afford BA that missed this when I posted it awhile back... http://www.stltoday.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=437387&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=816 They usually copy paste anything important about the draft (usually entire articles).
  8. How do you know? Have you ever seen video on Moustakas or Vitters besides a minute clip on milb.com (serious question, not trying to sound like an ass)? If not, are you just going by what you read? Because what you read says Vitters won't be a bust, and will likely be better than Moustakas. And yes, obviously, I know "don't believe everything that you read". But what else can we believe unless we've seen these kids play for longer than 60 seconds?
  9. Here was the tidbit. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070520newcubsbits,1,2386037.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines
  10. Marshall up per chicagosports.com No word on the corresponding move.
  11. Marshall up per chicagosports.com No word on who's going down. Hill is starting Tues.
  12. BTW, Price owned in his last start to redeem himself of a shaky start before. I'm not looking at the numbers now but I remember 8 IP, 1 ER, 15K's. Not sure on BB's but I think it was 1.
  13. From everything I've heard KC wants to take a pitcher though....(Porcello most likely in the scenario Price is gone).
  14. Am I the only one who agrees with this move? People here always talk about how to never use sample size as an indicator for anything, and are acting like Guz is a cinch to excell at #5. I love Guz and think he has a bright future, but if you expect him to hold a 3.15 ERA (or whatever it is), you obviously going to be let down. Guz has some pretty nasty stuff in the pen and you'll likely get similar numbers with Marshall over the course of a season as you will with Guz. Along with the fact that Guzman seems to always cramp a little later in games (this is a huge point, but it still is one), I can definately see logic in it. And it's not like he can't jump right back in to #5 if Marshall struggles.
  15. The Suntimes speculated (even though Lou denied it), that Lou could consider using the Bullpen to start the games and put in the starters after that (Lou has apparently contemplated this before with other teams). Rich Hill even chimed in saying he wouldn't mind it, but again, this is very unlikely considering Lou was quoted refuting it. After thinking, wouldn't Tuesday be Marshalls regular scheduled day to pitch? It would make sense that we would wait until Monday to bring him up considering he'd be of no use now (and we can use whoever else on the roster if needed in a game) considering he's a starter.
  16. Lou made it sound like the changes would involve the pitching staff. As in the starting 5? Or the bullpen? I was thinking the reliever we'd acquire would be the change in the bullpen along with Marmol, but it's obviously all just conjecture at this time. Probably won't even be anything significant besides another minor league pitcher called up.
