I could totally see that. I definitely don't think Wieters is #1. I don't personally know Wilken's draft record extensively, but I remember reading that he's known for liking college hitters (and that's how he helped build up Toronto or something.)
I Thought I remembered hearing that he would porbably go first round, but if he slips we should probably pick him up with our sandwhich pick. Is it a fact now that we'll not be at 31? Edt: Take that back, Julio Borbon from Tennessee is the guy I was thinking about, not Payne. I'm not sure where Payne's projected.
Brackman 9 IP, 6 R (5 ER), 6 hits, 1 BB, 9 K's Weiters was 1/4 last time I checked with a RBI single and no K's or BB's Pretty sure Price pitches tonight at 6 or 7.
What about throwing in another player or two, some prospects possibly, and trying to take Renteria off their hands? He makes 9 or 10 mill a year for a couple more years so maybe they would try and save a little cash. Just throwing ideas out there.
I'm sure this was probably said before but it was reported that Prior didn't throw any breaking balls, so i'm sure the hitters were expecting fastballs. They probably just wanted him to focus on mechanics and not offspeed pitches or velocity. I remember an interview from someone on the other team and he said he knew fastballs were coming on every pitch so he had an advantage.
Man, GT is just good at developing hitters with the right approach. I'm looking at their stats and a bunch of players on the team have as many or more BB's than K's. They've definately taught Murton well.
We splurged on a hitter this year, we can always splurge on a pitcher next  Damn though, I don't even want to think about how much he will get. Edit: Nevermind, thought he was a FA after this year for some reason. It's after the 08 season.
Weiters 2/4 with 2 singles, and BB. No K's. Threw 45 pitches as well. Up to .350 with a .444 OBP on the year. 11BB and 11K's. Power has been down a little of late (lots of singles), but it'll get there.
http://www.suntimes.com/sports/281958,CST-SPT-cub04.article I like that. I think MB's found a nice way to say your alright because you play my sport, but I hate you as a person. It'll be fun to see what happens when we meet up in the season (since I don't think they will be on the same field in the ST games).
