  1. Matt Harrington has one of the most "interesting" draft histories ever Drafted: Selected by Colorado Rockies in 1st Round (7th overall) of 2000 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by San Diego Padres in 2nd Round (58th overall) of 2001 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 13rd Round (374th overall) of 2002 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by Cincinnati Reds in 24th Round (711st overall) of 2003 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by New York Yankees in 36th Round (1089th overall) of 2004 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) Selected by Best Buy in 1st Round of 2005 Job Fair
  2. how about the Reds in 2008? probable 2nd place finisher and wild card contender is the way I see things unfolding, despite dugout dice throwing toothpick chewer
  3. Vina gushed about him because he's a "table setter/catalyst/etc.", all the things he envisioned himself as being during his playing days. This is the same as Schlereth fixated on offensive linemen, Jaworski fixated on QBs, Brantley fixated on closers and so on.
  4. i'm mostly indifferent to him, and there's a LOT of announcers i'd less rather listen to.
  5. it's beyond thinking he's a bad analyst. practically half of the sigs on here are quotes of his, there's a 26 page topic to bash him, and he's ceaselessly mentioned out of the blue such as in quotes earlier in this topic. there's dozens of broadcasters who are just as bad or worse, but he receives all of the hatred. because of his Sandberg comments? the Moneyball epilogue? i don't really understand it.
  6. I had to do it I don't think I'll ever understand the complete and utter vitriol this board has for that guy
  7. if Marmol never faced McLouth 0.26 era 0.61 whip opponents .082/.172/.091
  8. then what are they paying him for? does he sit all day in the corner and just masturbate? my whole point was if this guy was such a shrewd talent evaluator, maybe they'd have acquired a decent player or two during his tenure. i wasn't much blaming anybody, i just said that team's roster is awful. jesus, i don't even care that much about the guy either way. what's with this weird allegiance anyways?
  9. Jemile Weeks though I suspect the Brewers might take him to convince Rickie to resign
  10. still waiting on the quote
  11. i was just curious which quote of mine you were misconstruing
  12. i hate that the allstar game is based almost entirely on who has the hottest month and a half to open the season. ryan ludwick being talked about as an allstar is patently absurd. just vote for the best players at each position.
  13. Huh? He was asking about the triple play, not the triple steal. (And in this case it should be credited as a caught stealing and an error on who threw the ball. i didnt see the 2nd post that talked about the TP or hear about the triple play. they were probably ruled as steals because the runner on third beat the throw home, but the bobbling of the ball enabled the other two runners to steal 2nd and 3rd.
  14. it was a triple steal. in the indians-white sox game with the bases loaded, the pitcher did the fake to 3rd throw to first pickoff move and caught the runner on first in a rundown. the runner on third went home and the catcher couldn't handle the throw. the runners on first and 2nd advanced.
  15. how much of a martyr would a guy have to be to purposefully bash his face on a chair?
  16. i understand it's mostly Towers, but what has he done to help?
  17. the Sox will be lucky to finish higher than 3rd it's still the Tigers division
  18. he's a good fielder compared to the rest of the players in the league at his position. the last 2 years he was stellar and i'm confident he'll return to that level once he passes this mental phase he's going through.
  19. Soriano's a good fielder. He's just in a weird mental slump, and I'm not really worried.
  20. i'll never understand why everyone is terrified of the Cardinals and Astros
  21. that brings us to a dismal 8 games over seasons over folks
