  2. last year, Tony Campana hit the ball in the air less than 1/3 of the time he made contact 22 of his 37 (59%) hits were of the infield variety; the next highest season (PA > 150) since 2000 was Dave Roberts (49%) in 2003
  3. I assume you're laughing at the last sentence? Indiana took a team that was picked to be 9th in the Big 10 and a fringe NCAA tournament and instead is likely a top 4 NCAA seed. And that's with one 5 star and only two 4 stars playing, so they weren't drowning in talent. Beilein's close, but they have similar overall resumes and Indiana overacheived much more than Michigan did this year. (UM's starting five was/is entirely composed of 3-star players) also, you seem to be arguing more that preseason predictions were woefully askew, rather than that Crean did any great job of coaching
  4. this argument doesn't really hold much water: http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/102711aaa.html we were unranked at the end of last year and our best player bolted for the pros, getting replaced by a 3-star frosh PG; our top-25 pre-season ranking was head-scratching to say the very least
  5. probably, but i'm still going to do it anyway; Beilein (co-)won the conference with a 6'4" PF!
  6. if Beilein doesn't get COY for winning the conference without a single top-25 recruiting class then he never will; i must add, good of Izzo to get 6 PPG out of a 5-star like Adreian Payne

  8. i dunno, i kinda like Jalen
  9. wow, that high?
  10. that helps explain his feelings towards UM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcSzgrHZVXk&t=39s
  11. Hardaway just can't miss; this is bizarro world right now
  12. this SI piece on UCLA hoops' fall does not reflect very well on Ben Howland (or Reeves Nelson, for that matter), to say the least http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/magazine/02/28/ucla/index.html
  13. all right, my bold prediction is that Castro won't win the MVP
  14. I'm thinking .315/.365/.480 .330/.400/.500 so, basically...he'll double in production and strongly contend for the MVP
  15. .875 ops for LaHair vs. RHP (he'll be pretty shitty vs. lefties) Stewart tops 3 WAR
  16. Brooks Robinson's in the HOF with 268 HR, Santo's in with 342
  17. gif overlay of Luck/Newton/RGIII: http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/971739/simul.gif
  18. that's not the record
  19. 22 for his last 32 on threes that's a little ridiculous
  20. oh, if only there were a way to look up [expletive] online!
  21. this is completely moronic, sweat-stained stupidity; his ERA is 6th best amongst active pitchers with more than 250 starts
  22. BA Ranks: Brett Jackson: 32 Middlebrooks: 51 Bogaerts: 58 Szczur: 64 Ranaudo: Not top 100 Kalish: Not top 100 Mayo just put Carpenter at #8 in the Red Sox system. don't know why we gave up this guy, and not McNutt, who'd have been #25 in the Red Sox system
  23. huh, strangely absent right now is one of umfan's idiotic rants about attempting too many 3 pointers
  24. i'd actually welcome Urbie wasting his time & energy trying to flip our commits; he's been unsuccessful so far in his attempts
