  1. or, Shanahan could just be very bad at his job.
  2. i'd even go as high as something like 5/80, 7/91, permitting his shoulder gets fully cleared by team docs but like i said earlier, i do doubt that he'll be able to command that much
  3. Shaw should have tried to only punch Smith in the back of the head and slam his head into the glass instead or sucker-punch Smith in the face seven times, to earn just a one-game ban
  4. i'd love to see Mike Smith come out talking to the media in a bigass whiplash neck brace
  5. not sure where to put this, but BB Prospectus has an updated stats page now for our (preseason) top 20 prospects and the top 101 prospects in baseball http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/stats/top_11/index.php?year=2012&org=chn http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/stats/top_101/
  6. ESPN 150 released - currently 11 UM commits in the top 121 http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/playerrankings
  7. at any rate, a big part of the reason i'd want to go after Upton is i don't really think it'll take that much to get him his agent is going to have a hard time selling him based on what teams typically seem to value: .257 avg, career high of 24 HR, 82 RBI (both were five years ago), no gold gloves...it might be only the analytical front offices that truly realize his worth, and they mostly won't have the resources to make huge overtures for him
  8. Delmon Young: .288/.321/.427 (.749 OPS), career fWAR: 1.5 BJ Upton: .257/.342/.416 (.759 OPS), career fWAR: 19.8 (in 82 more games)
  9. there are actually three positions in the outfield, you fools
  10. for privacy's sake, lets call him "Jerry R."...no, that's too obvious. uhh, let's say "J. Reinsdorf"
  11. Stewart isn't a question, you jackwagon my hope is to woo Stephen Drew (with money) for 2B, sign BJ Upton for CF, and be left without a single weak spot in the lineup; Castillo can hit 8th and probably be perfectly fine go after Liriano/Anibal/Marcum/Peavy? to augment the rotation and you shore up just about everything for roughly the price of one Cole Hamels* *i may be underselling what these three will get, who the hell knows
  12. Ryan Kesler turns diving into an art form
  13. Schenn's hit looked like a textbook charge, to me
  14. to nobody's surprise, Don Cherry was being a gaping [expletive] about the Carkner idiocy, too; commending him for what he did, rationalizing that it protected Karlsson, who then proceeded to get pounded on consistently by the Rangers players most of the game thereafter, anyway we can probably expect Konopka or whoever to do something idiotic like slash Hagelin in the head next game
  15. how on earth did that stay out?
  16. nice .500/.600/.900 line for Welington now
  17. might be some suspensions coming from this Rags-Sens game, Carkner sucker-punched Boyle about seven times before Dubinsky could jump in (laughably earning him a game ban) and Hagelin got a major for elbow to Alfredsson's head in the corner lots of dirty play to go around so far
  18. If "the season" meant 2018. ok, this might be what i had read, but a later response suggests we'll in fact get the six years of control if he's up all year (likely) http://www.bleachernation.com/2012/03/28/lukewarm-stove-wells-byrd-garza-lahair-soto-soriano-soler/comment-page-1/#comment-87151
  19. if the Kings take the series, they should really send Keith a fruit basket or something
  20. i believe i read LaHair's a FA after the season
  21. i'm really impressed by that, considering the caliber pitching we've faced: Strasburg Gio Gonzalez Zimmermann Marcum Narveson Gallardo Greinke Wainwright that list is a veritable murderer's row
  22. love that sour grapes cross-check after the goal; so perfectly Vancouver
