  1. I'm going to have to print a fresh batch of fan club membership applications. I expect numbers to be growing very soon. what happened to the Platoon Blake Dewitt and Ryan Flaherty Fan Club?
  2. if we still had Z we'd only lose 85 games! oh, the humanity!
  3. 2nd in wOBA (.523), by a comfortable margin, and trailing Kemp by just .009
  4. jesus, he's topped 195 innings the past two seasons, quit fixating on this stupid arbitrary threshold already and formulate a new argument that makes sense Yeah that's been the crux of my whole argument...No big deal that he's got a surgically rebuilt shoulder that's never topped what's suddenly an arbitrary number for a SP...I mean what kind of IDIOT expects 200 innings from a guy getting called "almost elite" in this thread who apparently we should just hand some money to this offseason....THAT makes sense. How in the [expletive] did you wade through all that to handpick quotes and come away with that's my only point? [expletive] yuuuch. TWO HUNDRED INNINGS, THERE MUST BE TWO HUNDRED
  5. Florida farmhand Alex Sanabia perfect through 5 against Iowa Casey Coleman almost as effective though: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K so far
  6. jesus, he's topped 195 innings the past two seasons, quit fixating on this stupid arbitrary threshold already and formulate a new argument that makes sense
  7. you can imagine he'll charge the mound and pummel some poor unfortunate soul if this becomes a theme* *i'm rooting for this
  8. i really believe there's going to be a huge difference in contracts, which makes Anibal more appealing; you can probably fit him and BJ Upton into your budget for close to what it'll take to sign Hamels if teams really do go crazy for Anibal though, i'd be more than happy picking up Edwin Jackson; he'll probably be bargain basement again, and you can conceivably fit he, Upton, S. Drew all in for the price of just Hamels fWAR since 2009: C. Hamels: 13.6 M. Cain: 13.2 E. Jackson: 12.0 (19th-best) J. Shields: 11.1 M. Garza: 10.8
  9. the Lilly trade was not very good for us at the same time, the Pirates were able to pry away James McDonald (27 yo, 3.84 ERA with Pittsburgh) for Dotel; was never really too pleased about it
  10. i just given up hope for some of Stewart's LDs to find holes
  11. i think the word you're looking for is "mediocre"
  12. again, I apologize for only basing it on the 4.20 starters era, good for 12th in NL. (actually now it's 4.04 after today's game, good for 11th). huh...ERA, why not wins-losses?
  13. They have? From bukie's thread on April performance... That's in April... their performances in May certainly have done nothing to make them worse. jersey has two grading scales for rotations: 97 braves, and "mediocre"
  14. your point made perfect sense, i just felt compelled to look up ridiculous offensive teams in recent memory
  15. No season has ever had 3 >1.200 OPS hitters 97 rockies had four .900+ players 04 cards, 96 mariners had three 1.000+ players
  16. this is like a Final Destination situation; Natrome Means and Stan Humphries are in padded rooms right now, incapable of sleep
  17. also, Tony Campana and Travis Wood both have more HR than Vitters
  18. i think i jinxed Torreyes last week
  19. jesus, can we add a children's forum to this board where cc and b2b can be relegated to, to go wallow in their stupid ill-informed ignorant misery together?
  20. i know one month of fielding stats is practically meaningless (for predictive purposes), but i'm really encouraged with early returns per UZR, he leads all SS in range, to where he's still been average overall when factoring errors, and TZ (which had him -27 for '10-'11) has been a big fan so far, putting him at +5 http://s5.tinypic.com/igjmsx.jpg
  21. all i think about anymore when i hear Carl's Jr. or Hardees: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdGsKzmCgB0
  22. the Mets spent $82.5m for the first 4 seasons of Santana, only getting 10.9 WAR from it, and still have 3/$74.5m remaining i'm not sure that's a real great example for not trading a pitcher; the Mets were the real losers in that trade (i still don't want to trade Garza, unless something insane like Archie Bradley/Skaggs gets sent our way)
