  1. I think after all these years, we can safely leave off the "because I'm a dork" qualifier.
  2. I don't want to mow my lawn so im gonna watch this.
  3. Mervis and Morel demolishing balls, a good sign....
  4. Tauchman is slugging .318 and has a .419 babip. Get ready for: 1. A precipitous descent. 2. Ross to hang on to him far too long.
  5. I know he's struggled, but is there really no room in this lineup for a 23 year-old who is slugging .639?
  6. No Morel again, eh? My Stockholm-syndromed, rebuild-brain says it's yet again time to let the kids play and start shopping the vets.
  7. Wow, Horton carries himself so much like Kerry Wood.
  8. I suspect that Ross' only motivation in sitting Mervis is to do with his preference for veterans. He's shown an almost Dusty-level fetish in that regard. The bullpen, through catastrophic failure, forced itself into its current (much better, and pretty obvious from day 1) incarnation. Unfortunately for the fans, the offense will require a much larger sample of vet ineptitude before the need for change becomes apparent to the Cubs manager.
  9. Caissie's rep is obviously hampered by the K%. The power is 80 and its already in-game at 20 yrs old. That's bonkers. Edit: maybe not 80, but.....
  10. Taiilon is averaging 3.2 IP per start. Replacing him with a young, breakout SP would be enormous. But I get it.
  11. Caissie is very impressive. Wild offensive ceiling.
  12. Morel is 23, yeah? Perhaps he gets better? Sandberg had an 80 wRC+ at 23. Would a trade have been the right move? Sosa had a 100 wRC+ Grace didn't make the majors until 24. 20-year-old phenoms are great, but that isn't the only trajectory for good Major League talent.
  13. That may be the case, but 50 PAs isn't going to tell us. I won't list the first 50 PAs for the countless HOFers that performed similarly.
  14. Ian Happ is currently 21st in the NL in position player WAR. Nico is 15th, Bellinger 13th, Wisdom 12th and Swanson 6th. Those are better outcomes than I could have hoped for in March, yet....
  15. I know I'm not the only one that saw Flaherty struggling, at 22 pitches with one out and the bases loaded, Hosmer coming up, and called the 1st-pitch double play groundball. It was too easy.
  16. Biggest Mervis stan around but that was pretty bad. Two fastballs down the middle.
  17. wRC+ (NL rank) Hoerner (19) Swanson (22) Happ (16) Suzuki (would be tied for 5th) Bellinger (14) Wisdom (5) I know it's "too early" to bring up Mervis, Morel and Velazquez, but there would have to be some added value in doing it while the majority of the lineup is performing at this absurd level.
  18. Would love to see another extended inning and get back into the Dodger pen asap. Could really pay dividends over the weekend.
  19. The handling of Nelson Velazquez has been very disappointing edit: Derp. Just saw he was back down as of the 15th.
  20. I feel like the ceiling is a bit higher. 84-88 wins if they call up the boys from AAA in a timely fashion. 88-93 wins if they trade for an ace in July.
  21. I continue to be convinced the Cubs mandate days off after you hit a HR.
  22. I know how early it is, but I'd much rather see Morel/Mervis/Velazquez in Chicago than the journeymen they scavenged.
