  1. Orton looks nervous for some inexplicable reason. It's not like crowd noise is an issue.
  2. The defense is bad again today in the first half.
  3. When Grossman comes back, I think the recievers are going to want him starting if Orton can't dial in his deep passes.
  4. Dangit Orton. Get accurate.
  5. Wow, the Bears look like they're asleep.
  6. well, if they weren't motivated, that'll do it.
  7. Nope. As a second baseman Hairston is an average defender, and he's not an abomination at the plate. I'll echo that. I'd rather have Hairston.
  8. wow. omfg. they wouldn't take ramirez + cash for sizemore and prospects? i'm sorry, sizemore is awesome, but that's just stupid. as good as sizemore is, some of that is a function of pitchers not knowing your hole(s). his ceiling will never touch manny's numbers. Depending on how much salary Boston was picking up, maybe they are right to not take it.
  9. Anyone else worried about a letdown. As crappy as the Saints are, they still have a couple weapons.
  10. How about: Baldelli to Philly Hill, Mitre and Wellemeyer to TB Abreu to Cubs (we pick up all his salary I like it but I'm slightly bias! I'd also like to go after Wells from Toronto to cure the CF woes. If Pie and Murton do turn out to be a good players it would give the Cubs good choices to make instead of having be reactive. I think Wells might be overvalued. We'd be better served trying to extract Michaels from Philly, or maybe Mench from Texas.

  12. Does Thome have a NTC? Why would Pittsburgh give up 3 of their "better" players for a giant injury risk.
  13. Reports are that Jim Hendry walked into the clubhouse late last year after Walker had lost a bet and was compelled to shove his mouth full of Lemonheads. Apparently, Hendry mistook the sour look on Walker's face for him being a general malcontent. As luck would have it, Neifi told Jim a knock-knock joke on the way out. From there on, it was a no brainer who was better for the clubhouse. That's hilarious. And plausible! :thumleft:
  14. I like the 3rd deal listed above. It would solve CF, RF, aand leadoff if we don't get Furcal. Also, it solve the problem of "what to do about Patterson?" I don't even know if that would get it done, but that would be my preferred deal of the ones I listed. I think maybe you'd have to include Hill or Nolasco.
  15. He's going to be a high risk/high reward guy, though. He should be peaking soon, as he entering prime age, but has beeen inconsistent. Maybe a change of scenery would do him some good. He's making a lot of money though. What would you give up for Burrell?
  16. I suppose you could deal: -Pinto, Mitre and Walker to Texas, send Soriano to Philly and get Abreu ...that's all I can think of, and I think that deal wouldn't work. Hmm. How about: How about Pinto and Mitre to San Diego for Kelsko and Klesko and Walker for Abreu? Pinto, Ryu, Patterson, and Mitre for Abreu and Michaels. Pie for Abreu and Michaels. *edit* I'm just throwing crap against a wall. I don't know that any of these deals are realistic, and I'd not deal Pie for Abreu and Michaels. Just throwing it out there.
  17. Look at it this way: through 2 games we are 1 ahead of last years pace! we will be through three too. All we needed was one rebound too. Oh well its early. The rebounding is horrible right now. How many offensive rebounds have they given up already in 2 games? unfortunately, i think were going to have to get used to it. Chandler always gets in foul trouble early and there isn't anyone on our team that is close to his size. Were going to be outrebounded in a lot of games this year... I think they are missing Antonio Davis.
  18. I'd rather have Betancourt than Riske.
  19. Look at it this way: through 2 games we are 1 ahead of last years pace!
  20. dang, that sucks.
  21. that was bad transition defense. we'll see what happens here, but I had a nagging feeling that the Nets were going to get them. They just seem to have our number.
  22. Yeah, I agree. It wasn't like a smear piece. It was bringing up a legit concern that the Cubs may have. Like it or not, drinking can be a major, life long issue for people to deal with. Were we to sign Furcal, he would be a key player in any championship hopes we have, so it makes sense to look at the past, and look at how he's tried to handle it.
  23. Kirk is nails tonight.
  24. yeah. maybe a small team will take a flier on him.
