  1. Those are horrid calls.
  2. How does the football capital of the world's state university not have a better backup that this guy?
  3. Isn't the #9 Shirt at Everton cursed or something?
  4. It's all down to Hodgson & the freedom he allows Clint. Allegedly there was an exchange between Clint & Bradley Sr. after the group stage match v Brazil at the Confed's Cup where Clint raised some of his frustrations. After that we saw the results, 3 goals in 3 matches, the highest Castrol Rating in the tournament iirc, 2 wins and the Bronze Ball. Hopefully it's a thing that continues. Fulham also build out of the back very well. Their centerbacks don't just hoof it upfield and bypass the mids. Their center mids are also better than Mikey + whoever at this point. Adu signed with Aris today.
  5. Goal of the year
  6. I was going to post this today. Deuce is [expletive]. They respect him a ton over there. Adu is going to end up at Aris with EJ. He just needs some tick anywhere at this point. Did anyone else check out the commercial SBI had up with LD in a sombrero and Zapata moustache? Fricking hilarious. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t84/ussoccermvp/video-1.jpg
  7. Neither of whom are really anything special either.
  8. Awesome, I love the FA Cup. When Wayne Rooney is going back to his own 18 to receive the ball, you know your midfield sucks. I think Valencia was a poor signing. Yeah, he has pace, but he's not a consistent league scoring threat. Berba needs good service. Rooney's pressing, trying to carry the team and Owen is a great guy to bring in for offense, but they're lacking a midfield scoring option. Park Ji Sung is a sub on a good team-a poor man's Dirk Kuyt. Giggs has played wonderfully, but Gibson isn't ready, Fletcher isn't consistent enough, Carrick isn't good enough and their defense is patchwork. They are going to struggle to break teams down without an extra attacking option. I know it's an obvious and easy thing to say, but I think maybe United fans overlooked how much Ronaldo carried them the past two seasons. He created so much chaos and saw so much extra marking that it freed a ton of space for everyone else, hiding their weaknesses. I didn't notice if the Duke University grad, Mike Grella, saw the field for Leeds. They're going to be back in the Prem in two years, and good for them.
  9. Thats the United I thought we'd see all year. Good for Leeds. Nearly bankrupt a couple years ago.
  10. Great, back to the team that didn't want him in the first place
  11. One thing thats constantly overloked is how many different QB's have had issues with the snap from center. There's only ever been one constant back there. He needs to go. Overrated, old and expensive.
  12. Notable omissions from the Camp Cupcake roster include: Hejduk (done) Mastro (doneskies) Parkhurst (surprising) Ching (unless he's rehabbing or something, no bueno for him) Mapp (wasted potential) Movsisyan (must not be a citizen) Adu (Would this have hurt him at Beleneses at all? Probably done this cycle) I like the fact we called in Pontius. Cameron is a player-I like him a ton. Cunningham v Findley for the quasi-Chuck D role should be interesting.
  13. for the team it's about winning the world series. ultimately, a gm can't control what his team does in the playoffs. all he does is build a team and then hope they perform when it matters. if the 2008 cubs had shown up for the playoffs and won the world series, would that have meant jim hendry had built a better team? no, it still would have been the same team he built. let me ask you something. who deserves more credit- walt jocketty for building the 2006 cards (won 83 games, but also the world series) jim hendry for building the 2008 cubs (97 wins, swept in the first round) ? Which season would you rather take as a fan? That's not his point
  14. Five years ago, you could still believe in wins as a stat and simply be considered behind the times. But if you don't have some sort of evidence that you were in a coma, monastary, or frozen Encino Man style, we have to assume that you're choosing to remain ignorant rather than attempt intelligent conversation. Stop wasting our time. Sorry, Rob. But you and your confused ilk have yet to provide any stat that is more important than wins for a starting pitcher, especially one that is paid over $18 million a year. What's more important WHIP? Other stats have importance but not to the degree of wins. Your expectations seem quite low and indicative of your understanding. 15. Boca hasn't played in like 3 weeks. Our defenders are going to be woefully out of form in June if this ish keeps up.
  16. Did Dempsey have a good game? An assist and was dangerous throughout, despite most of the attack being directed down the right side of the United defense. Roy Hodgson is a really, really good manager. Great tactician.
  17. DO NOT WANT MAKE IT STOP
  18. LOL Inter. Poor Jose.
  19. If ESPN is going to throw a bone to soccer fans, they could get the drama right and put that Liverpool was down 3-0 at half and came back to win in penalties.
  20. I've been trying to formulate my thoughts on how bad Zombie Beasley is freaking me out. I don't know what's happening, I don't know how to feel about it and I'm not sure why. http://videos.sapo.pt/fr3bI6TuZHzzz2kGmumk The only way I can understand what happened in the video in the link is that it must've been a failed cross. No way he was purposely putting it on goal. Dare I let myself think about Beasley on the right, Donovan on the left and Dempsey in the hole? A finally fit and healthy DMB could be a nice wrinkle in certain tactical situations. I will say that I'm really happy MLS stepped up and showed Stuart Holden the money. MLS needs players like him and I'd rather watch him do his thing here than be a squad player in Europe or a starter in a middling league like the SPL. I sincerely hope Bradley and staff realize that Beasley is doing this in the worst European league, and is still a player with horrid tactical skills and no-longer-blazing pace. I want him nowhere near the 23. I want him nowhere near Africa. Every cycle some washed up vet ends up costing us goals and points. Agoos in 2002, Pope and Reyna in 2006. This will happen if Beasley ends up on the 23. He will start a game, and commit a horrid, horrid error (see Confed Cup v Brasil, failing to trap an effing corner leading to a counter break and goal). Beasley isn't a RM player. He's a LM player. If Bradley moves Donovan from the LM, where he's been completely awesome this cycle, and puts him anywhere else to make room for effing Beasley, he's a tactical [expletive] and he'll ruin the summer for me. If he puts him on the right, Beasley will bitch just like he did in 2006 when Bruce served his ass after the Czech disaster. In this cycle, we've FINALLY found a style that suits us-our attack runs through our technically sounds wing mids and they pinch in. Beasley can't do that. He has no technical skill, no touch-he only has one move, and against good competition (read: not the SPL) his pace is negated. If Bradley drinks the Beasley Kool Aid, it will cost us effectiveness and points in the Cup.
  21. How long do documents have to remain classified before they are released? I hope I live long enough to FOIA his 90 page undergrad paper.
  22. Aside from the fact that your Title XI tangent was riddled with errors, you make excellent points.
