  1. Post the paper and let us all read it.
  2. Dude, come on. He's stated his case.
  3. You couldn't find out now by google searching it because she is Speaker of the House but prior to being named Speaker she was mainly known as a Congresswoman who was extremely outspoken and the leader in Congress to make no changes to Title IX. She is uniquely able to speak out because she comes from one of the most democratic districts in the country and thus can be very liberal on controversial topics without worry of losing re-election. http://www.house.gov/pelosi/TitleIX.html That was mainly what she spent her time on before getting national exposure in her bid for the Speaker. In using Lexis Nexis to search for politicians involved in Title IX her name was in almost every single entry found. As a Senator. Who you interviewed. For an undergrad paper while at a smallish University in Indiana. Just admit you used some Lexis/Nexis quotes from Pelosi, and that you didn't actually interview her, and that you don't know what her job is, and we can go back to your bad argument. Or I did interview her before she was a big name in the national media. I'm not Skyballer and my prof checks every source used. She was the House Minority Leader from 03-07. Everyone knew who she was because she was on TV shrieking about Iraq every 24 hours (which is what got her attention for Speaker, not Title IX, which no one cares about), so unless you were in in your Telecom class in 2002, I doubt she found time for some college student not in her district to shoot the ish about women's sports. You didn't even know she wasn't a Senator. Your arguments might have some more heft if they weren't riddled with factual error after factual error.
  4. Might want to do research on what sports actually turn a profit. Football would be at the bottom of the list. They cost millions for 90% of the schools and only the top 35-50 actually make money each year. Women's basketball, after men's basketball, averages the most profit for a large majority of schools. I wrote a big story on this topic for our student paper and FOI'ed a lot of documents detailing what was spent and what was earned. Did Congressman Reid help you proofread it?

  6. This. Title Xi is a sop to women's athletics. They know they only exist because of Football and Basketball programs, as do many of the lesser men's programs. Also, Nancy Pelosi was the House Minority Leader from 2003-2007. Everyone knew who she was.
  7. TCOM actually and she wasn't Speaker of the House or really even talked about when I interviewed her. But she was a Senator when you interviewed her for your paper at Ball State, right? Senator from California, right?
  8. Because she's a Senator. Duh.
  9. Wow, how did you mentally prepare yourself for interviewing the sitting Speaker of the House for your undergrad paper on Title IX? Oh yeah. Nancy Pelosi is a Congresswoman. Not a Senator. Your degree is in journalism, right?
  10. Somewhere, Rex Grossman is nodding his head quietly.
  11. Consider which organization is more inept: Bears or Cubs?
  12. Also, no one gives a damn about women's collegiate sports except the participants, and maybe people trying to use them to bolster a bad argument.
  13. I'd walk around with a boner for like 4 weeks if we made the semis
  14. Eh, I think 3 months in the EPL for a team that's going to feature him is more favorable than the crapfest loan at Bayern last term. That is, if they feature him. If he gets like 4 starts its a waste. Also, I don't blame MLS for valuing him the way they do, really. His value to the league makes it imperative they get fair market value for him in any sale/transfer. I also don't really blame European teams, in this market and with LD's track record (not that I think its entirely fair) in Europe, for not paying $12m in transfer fees plus wages for an unproven commodity. A team that would really need him couldn't afford him for longer than a loan, and a big club wouldn't spend on him cause of his Bunde past. Hopefully he goes there, helps Everton avoid the drop, scores a few goals and kicks ass in South Africam and then maybe a bigger club will come calling with an offer to buy.
  15. Well as long as every stiff off the street is making public statements of intent, I'd like to hereby announce my desire to sign with united as well. No kidding. Sol Campbell is insane. Plus, I think Sir Alex would be better off just keeping his makeshift defense over signing Sol.
  16. Yeah, Everton would be better off buying Jay Demerit considering how god awful their defense is. Of course, their whole outfield is pretty poor. LD would get playing time there, that's for certain.
  17. Starting 8 midfielders. Alex Ferguson has the balls of a grizzly bear. Best coach in Europe. Even though he's going to cost me a Deportivo shirt. Owen went for a hat trick in that match. He's got to be the best signing of the year in therms of value per dollar, right?
  18. The word is that they are looking at a bunch of American players including Holden, Rogers and Landon. It's going around that they are really loving the idea of getting the most for the little money they have and that they believe American players are the best place for them to find talent that can step right with the physicality and effort required to play in the SPL. As far as I'm concerned they are 100% right. You aren't going to get the value for your money in Europe, Africans, South and Central Americans adapt poorly to the weather and brute tackling and as we know here in American soccer, bad weather and bad tackling are abundant. I question if the SPL, Rangers and Celtic aside, is any better than MLS. To me, SPL is Europe for the sake of Europe.
  19. That's all Gulati. When he took over he made it his #1 priority to improve the level of competition he faced. If we look at the friendlies scheduled, the decision to prioritize 2007 Gold Cup over Copa America and the schedule coming up in 2010, it's been a smashing success. Credit where credit is due to the Oompa Loompa.
  20. Rumors abound that Stu Holden is going to end up at Rangers. I don't want him at Rangers. If he gets hurt no one will ever see him again. I think it was Reyna that said the most advanced piece of equipment in their physio room was an electric tea kettle.
  21. The DMB comment was meant more at preventing him from being on the 23 period, not supplanting CD or LD. I want him nowhere near South Africa. I see your point about Landon, but he needs to find the right European fit, not just go for the sake of going.
  22. I saw two bs PI calls go Texas' way that game. Nebraska deserved to win, but oh well. Would have been nice to see the BCS people crap apples over TCU or Cinci in the title game.
  23. McCoy...not so smart.
  24. One thing that Bradley and staff need to impart upon our boys over the course of the next few months is how damn important it is going to be to not draw any unnecessary cards. This summer, Clark's cost us a likely point v Italy, and Mikey's (questionable) against Spain cost us the final. Mikey needs to find a way to keep the Keano-esque edge but avoid the red mist that he tends towards. Wolf, thoughts on Landon playing overseas in the Spring or staying in MLS? EDIT: England's central defense is going to be an issue for them. Best case, Rio finds fitness and form after this long layoff, but I'm thinking the sun is setting on his best days. Ditto for "Brave" John Terry, who I can't stand and think is an overrated douche. Who backs them up? Hargreaves might as well be dead. Lescott kind of sucks. Ledley King has no knees, or else he'd be streets better than all three. Wayne Bridge? Meh. I this Wes Brown is underrated but if they have to play him, it's a big, big win for us. I actually hope Frank Lampard, apart from our game, has a good World Cup. For some reason I feel he's the least douche-y Lion. Just scores 20 league goals, isn't really flashy, doesn't talk a bunch of ish, doesn't get sent off, doesn't get into drunken barfights, isn't Beckham, isn't a complete clownbag asshat like Ashley Cole...just a solid player. DOUBLE EDIT: The corpse of DMB played for 'Gers today. I hope to hell that he doesn't start showing signs, lest Bradley think his speed and experience could help contain Lennon and SWP and decide to give him another shot at the NT.
  25. That was a sweet pass. Did you get to the part where Gladbach's coach took Mikey out and yelled at him for losing his temper? I'd love it if hubris caused Capello to use Goldenballs in that game. We'd so, so eat him up alive.
