  1. part of Mark Prior's anatomy is registered here. And I, for one, am hoping you're referring solely to his calves.
  2. That seems like an odd combination of players. Richard Lewis played collegiately in Atlanta at Georgia Tech; and obviously Corey comes from a GT family and, like Barrett, is originally from the Atlanta area. Perhaps that's the link that had those three targeting to work-out together....Maybe they should have invited Nomar, Murton, and Eric Patterson as well (all former GT players). What about the Farns?
  3. When you look at our team from last year, which lost 95 games, then, yeah, these guys are improvements. Don't forget about Sean Cassey, either. Question: How many Cubbie relievers had a better ERA than Hernandez last year? Hey, teh Cobs didn't do much better. We were only marginally better last year and our 3 key FA's were Eyre, Howry, and Jones. Woo frickin hoo!
  4. My guess is a brief reiteration of the Pierre deal and a segue into how the defense is improved.
  5. "Available January 10", my butt. Anywho, I have yet to see one in person, but my dealer seems to think I should have it within 2 weeks. JOY! Where do you live? I've heard that the initial allocations went to dealerships in Michigan and Texas. I live in Iowa. Maybe I won't have it as soon as I thought then.

  7. If that's going on, they had better be some lower-level prospects. I think Williams's value is much higher than a lot of people (especially Murph) think.
  8. Probably in for a long season if your three "key" free agents are Roberto Hernandez, Joe Randa and Jeromy Burnitz.
  9. I've even seen a Yugo that has a clutch. No not Lugo, Yugo. It's reaaaaally clutch. Thanks, you just reminded me of that stupid Ford commercial from a year ago or so: Saleslady: It comes with an automatic at no additional charge. Customer: That's clutch Saleslady: No, an automatic Customer: Yeah, that's clutch All downhill from there...
  10. I was waiting for you to chime in on that one. :D
  11. Mmm... bush...
  12. I also envision quite a few asking why Ronny would be considered for the SS job since Neifi did so well for us last year.
  13. No problem, we're all here to learn. I just didn't want this thread to spiral out of control (as some others have). Carry on... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited: These quotes were split from the Lugo thread and are being inserted here to keep them in order. --S
  14. None of them went from 30 HR power to putting up 243 over 4 seasons either. That's not accurate though. In 96 Sosa hit 40 in 126 games (which projects out to 52/53 in a full season) . In 97 he hit 36 in what. if you look at his numbers - most of which were his worst in 4 years, can be considered a bad/down year. Regardless of whether you want to consider 97 a down year saying he had 30hr power is a significant understatement. Is 50 to 66 in two years that big a jump? It's certainly not Brady Anderson like. And Brady Anderson is another player I believe was juiced. I certainly don't have any proof, it is pure speculation, but I don't think Canseco was as crazy as many made him out to seem. I love Sammy and everything he did for the game of baseball, but I am positive he was juiced.
  15. Anyone have a link to the clutch debate? SonnyD is new here.
  16. Assuming the contents of the article were actually "gleaned from" the meeting, then yes, I believe he did give that impression.
  17. None of them went from 30 HR power to putting up 243 over 4 seasons either.
  18. Yes, gleaned. Maybe not verbatim, but it definitely seems to be a much different scenario than Bruce's column.
  19. Would you consider Lugo a "clutch" hitter? Oh, no I didn't just go there!?
  20. OK, I finally read the article, and I am reading it as though the answers were actually Dusty's.
  21. I know I'm chiming in late on this topic, but if we're trading Williams AND Walker, we had damn well better get something more valuable than Lugo and "an unnamed pitcher". Am I the only one who sees extremely little value in Lugo?
  22. Hang 'em up, buddy. I'd hate to see this turn into McGriff part 2 in some quest to get to 600.
  23. Got my new big-ass American SUV ordered! 2007 Tahoe. http://nandotimes.nandomedia.com/ips_rich_content/252-tahoe.jpg
