  1. Fred, you're not allowed to use these "facts" to help anyone's arguments. None of us remember the Cubs winning a game, so it never happened.
  2. Sometime next Saturday. We won't even have a baserunner until mid-week.
  3. That line never gets old. Well done.
  4. Murton didn't get a hit when we needed it. Hairston didn't get a hit. Aramis didn't get a hit. The team, outside of Jones, had TWO hits in THIRTY THREE at-bats (.060). There were a lot of people not reaching base to give us a chance to win.
  5. if i were hendry id start bringin up some propects to see what they can do, it wouldnt hurt anything are there any good 1b, 2b or SS prospects?? They could move Cedeno to 2b, if they have a competent SS prospect. Jones isn't playing too bad actually, and they're not going to sit Pierre. we could try eric patterson to see what he can do, brandon sing? i dont know much about him though They might not be ready but they pulled Murton up and he did well, maybe they can perform decently, they sure as hell cant be any worse than what we have now, at very most he would be a upgrade on defense over hairston and neifi Patterson's numbers are down a bit so far, and I doubt bringing him up would be a smart move. Sing has been, well, look at the numbers (184/311/342/653). Murton's advantage was that he got ready in someone else's organization and had relatively consistent success everywhere he went. It wasn't a stretch to believe he could do it at the big league level. Right now, I don't think the Cubs have any position players that can instill that same sort of confidence in management, except possibly Coats.
  6. Well, he was one of our best pitchers.
  7. if i were hendry id start bringin up some propects to see what they can do, it wouldnt hurt anything The only scary thing is, not many are worth a hoot right now. Iowa sucks, and the guy there with the best numbers is putting up lower numbers than Restovich was. Nic Jackson's tearing it up at West Tenn, but he wasn't too hot in AAA in his last chance there. The other problem is, the ones nearest being ready for a call-up are all OF prospects. While we do need help there, 2B is a MAJOR liability right now.
  8. Tell us what it was like, Grandpa.
  9. Give me a break with the Juan Pierre cost us the game crap. What has Hairston done (aside from having an OPS 130+ pts lower than Pierre and inexplicably running up to right behind the mound to catch Barrett's throw when Greene stole)? How about Neifi and his 437 OPS being in the lineup? What of Aramis and his 0-4, Barrett and his 1-5, Walker and his 1-5? Take away Jones, and the team was 2-33. There is nobody on this team that could have made a throw to get Greene out at the plate. NOBODY. Juan is not the reason this team lost.
  10. Why, are we releasing everyone and calling up the team from Iowa? Wait a minute, they suck worse.
  11. Corey PattersonJim Edmonds Andruw Jones To name a few I can only take that as a joke. Review the play. Greene was rounding 3rd as Pierre got to the ball. Unless Corey, Jim, or Andruw had a potato shooter or bazooka, there's no way they would have gotten him.
  12. Should I laugh or cry over that? Cuz I'm doing a little of both right now.
  13. ...when we scored a run? Yeah, me neither.
  14. 716 middle infielders on the roster, and none of them know how to play (except for the one playing 1B, whom everyone thought was the worst). Thank you for the loss, JERRY HAIRSTON, JR. Pierre's arm had nothing to do with that. I can't think of a CF that would have thrown Greene out.
  15. You have a lot of free time. No, when you get to be his age, you'll be filled with just as much useless info.
  16. Oh, we passed on a lot more than just Milledge to get Harvey... http://www.thebaseballcube.com/draft/2003/Round-1-1.shtml
  17. last years team was too reliant on home runs this years team is too reliant on the opposing defense making four straight errors no way man - speed never slumps! Just look at all the runs we've produced this week alone! 2! Just last week, Freddie Bynum sprinted all the way to Naperville and back. And he still had the energy to dress and sit on the bench. Top that, Albert Pujols!
  18. I think deep down we all want Corey to succeed. However, it's almost refreshing to many to see that he did not leave and suddenly begin to enjoy the success we all thought he would have here. I'll dog on Corey all day long for making stupid plays, but by the same token, I'll dog Lee or Aramis or Ronny or Murton if they did the same. I still like Corey. No harm, no foul.
  19. Duh, Vance. Then again, crippled Alou = healthy Jones?
  20. nope. if a group of impatient cub fans who have never checked a minor league box score, let alone listened to a minor league game on the radio or watched one in person is ready to give their expert opinion on somebody they've seen throw 20 innings, then by golly, i'm on board. I agree. There is no reason to criticize Hill on any level whatsoever. Anyone who does so has no idea what they are talking about and probably didn't know Rich Hill existed until yesterday. I disagree with the notion that anyone who does not like Hill is uninformed or has less baseball knowledge than anyone else. There are more than impatient fans that are less than impressed with him. I know his minor league numbers, I've seen his boxscores, I've listened to the radio, and I've seen him pitch in person. I am not, and never have been, a fan of Rich Hill's. If he makes it big, fine. I don't ever see it happening, and you won't hear me calling anyone stupid for thinking otherwise.
  21. With all due respect, you shutting up is probably the least of his worries.
  22. At least I have the I-Cubs. Wait, they suck even more.
  23. They aren't already?
