  1. We gave him a free out to end the last inning. Hairston's been brutal.
  2. Our offense was destined for mediocrity with Lee.
  3. Can I ask him why this team sucks so much, or does it have to be a question about him? For the record, I love your questions! The one you just quoted, or the ones I asked in the chat?
  4. David, Thanks for taking the time to answer questions for us. My first question to you is more of a rant and a question. I have attended many games in Des Moines over the years, and I have never once gotten close to walking away with a souvenir such as a foul ball, shrapnel from a broken bat, or even a hot dog shot out of one of the air cannons. If you're there the next time I am, can you hook me up? Second question: When receiving word that you're heading to the big leagues, can you put into words the excitement that you feel? Finally: Favorite teammate, past AND present.

  6. This team needs less Pierre Flair and more Ric Flair. Wooooo! Can't believe I'm breaking this one out again... http://www.vilefest.com/hacksaw.jpg
  7. These numbers only include when he does something other than swing and miss, but with a 0-0 count, he has actually been very good -- 625/625/1125/1750
  8. Harris sucked, but Hiatt or Leon? Oh yeah, absolutely. Take a look at what those two guys did at AAA. No way in hell Harris could have approaced their numbers if he were down there, and then look at Lenny's attrociously terribly putrid MLB numbers. There are reasons that Hiatt and Leon are career minor leaguers -- they're not good. Lenny Harris sucked, but so did they.

  10. Albert Pujols is 67 years old, but it doesn't matter because he'll likely hit until he's 184. The guy's a freak of nature.
  11. Hollandsworth over Murton last year. Hollandsworth (250/329/382/711) over Dubois (346/393/808/1201) last April.
  12. Once again, because a small number of pitchers are struggling? What about Isringhausen or Jeff Weaver or Jon Garland or Livan Hernandez or Randy Johnson or Andy Pettitte, etc? The evidence does not support your claims. What does bringing those struggling pitchers into the argument have to do with Goony's theory that participation in the WBC might affect certain pitchers negatively? Are you serious? Yes. There is absolutely no evidence to support the claim. None. For every struggling WBC pitcher, we could probably find 2 or 3 who did not participate and are struggling just as much or more. Not to mention that there are plenty of WBC pitchers who are not struggling at all.

  15. Wait a minute, decades upon decades of pitchers pitching 300-400 innings, finishing dozens of games per year is not enough evidence that pitch counts may be overrated, but a small number of pitchers who participated in the WBC struggling this April is enough that the tournament has a negative effect on pitchers?
  16. If he goes to Boston, Jimi isn't going to be able to show his face around here ever. Oh, that'd be a shame.
  17. Perez, Rusch, and JJ, hands down. Way more versatile, and all three of them flat out know how to win. Really hard to convey sarcasm with the written word, isn't it?
  18. If Rah-jah goes back to Boston, I'll pah-ty wicked hahd coah.
  19. I will hold off my jubilation for when they start pitching better as a whole. A great game by Marshall will not erase the crap we endured over the weekend. While they are 2nd in K/9 and BAA, they're 9th in ERA, 8th in WHIP, 8th in OPSA, 12th in K/BB. These are all NL rankings, not MLB.
  20. This is your last warning: stop using statistics and logic to prove your point. Dang Cards fans.
  21. I'd take Chip back.
