  3. I guess no one's watching the game. I'm not. It hurts my eyes and gives me heartburn.
  4. He'll sign with the Cubs in the offseason and spend the rest of his career putting up a 182/204/276/480 line at Wrigley.
  5. He's not consciously making these decisions, he really is that bad of a manager.
  6. Somebody should take up a collection so members of the team can participate.
  7. I just don't get it, and I've had it explained to me by friends of mine in New York who are Yankees fans. The guy is one of the greatest offensive forces in history of the game, and you're not happy with him? Please send him here.
  8. That's not cool, man. We shouldn't have to choose. I'd have to say the Farns is tops, but Dmitri and OldLOL are really close.
  9. Freddie kinda looks like a horse. Other than that...
  10. Sadly Peter's most known for his trading deadline prognostications, but his writing is what makes him a star. His work with the Globe aside, the best pieces on ESPN now are pieces that he writes. Whether or not he gets the blockbuster deals right, he is always in the mix and usually the first with the scoop when it is there.
  11. Worst Cubs team since baseball was invented.
  12. That is one of the most depressing reads I have ever encountered as a Cubs fan. Why am I reading about updates to the big league club that include the names Womack, Bynum, and Pagan? "Bynum update"?? Puh-leeeze...
  13. 1. It was his opinion that it was mostly the injuries not just Dusty 2. Seems like Neifi is always on base...against the Brewers, which is true 3. Didn't hear that one 1. That was the 1st time. They then said Dusty isn't batting 1-9. 2. Perception is a funny thing -- he might have a 333 OBP this year, but it was 260 for the 3 years prior to this one 3. Um, nothing.
  14. Highlights from the Brewers TV broadcast team: 1) Can't understand why Dusty would be on the hot seat 2) Seems like Neifi is always on base (tough out) 3) Do not understand why Oakland would be shopping Zito It's only the 2nd, boys. Slow down.
  15. My good God, I keep forgetting how brutally annoying the Brewers announcers are.
  16. If Barrett went on the DL, should we have just sat still with no catcher to replace him? He'll end up missing a total of 13 games with a 1B/DH as our backup catcher (who also happens to be playing every day). Nevin and Mabry are not catchers, Blanco barely is. Put the emergency catcher label on Aramis. Put the emergency CF label on Maddux. None of the above make sense. Putting someone who cannot fill the position in the position is stupid. Plain and simple. It is yet another example of horrible roster management, and regardless of how the team is performing, it should not be ignored. Not to mention that we have 12 pitchers and the bench is short.
  17. Mabry is no more a catcher than you or me. And my presumption puts Barrett and Blanco on the field at the same time on May 5th. You don't do it.
  18. Does it really matter? If Soto and Blanco were both on the team all week, would anything have been different really? If Soto gets one start, it will be the same as if he were he 10 days. Much ado about nothing here. Why, yes it matters. They were playing with fire by having Nevin serve as the primary backup as well as having him in the lineup elsewhere. And? Worst case, scenario, Blanco gets hurt in the middle of a game....Nevin plays a few innings. Then Soto is with the club the bext day. No, worst case scenario is Blanco and Nevin both get hurt. Then you have nobody there for a few innings when Soto could have been there to begin with.
  20. We're really fooling ourselves to believe we can beat the Pirates or Royals. We suck, but they suckity-suck suck. Jake -- if anyone can be that big of a loser, I got my money on you, pal!
  21. Yes, call up a catcher now that Barrett's suspension is nearly complete.
  22. Didn't 1997 start with 17 straight loses...that was fun to be disapointed and giving up and the team hadn't even won 1 game. 0-14, 2-17
