  1. Surely you cannot be serious. I would take Aramis over Joe Crede 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, 366¼ days a year.
  2. I've read that a couple times now and I still can't think who it was that led the league. I assume NL. Was it Andruw or Pat Burrell? I assume it wasn't Pujols because he couldn't hit that low in any split that included as many chances as RISP would include. Andruw. Ortiz led the AL, but was over 350 with RISP. And what were the collective OBP's of the guys who hit directly in front of Jones? Jones spent most of his time batting 4th... 1 - 356 2 - 354 3 - 383

  4. So, he just mouthed words?
  5. That's an interesting choice. Personally I don't care if the new manager is an ex-Cub or not....I just want a good manager. Agreed. I'd also look at managers who have been part of a winning tradition. That's why I've very high on Fredi Gonzalez. I hope the Braves way of doing things has rubbed off on him. Isn't that why we got Jeff Blauser?
  6. CC Sabathia respectfully disagrees. This team historically struggles with the unknown. BOOF, baby.
  7. ESPN.com is blocked where they work? Good point. It's exactly where I got all of my information. I moved some stuff around and did some basic adding and percentage calculating, but it was all taken from the ESPN stats pages. Last time I looked, I wasn't the only one granted access to this secret society that is ESPN. LOL. Who controls the British crown? Who keeps the metric system down? We do! We do! Who leaves Atlantis off the maps? Who keeps the Martians under wraps? We do! We do! Who holds back the electric car? Who makes Steve Gutenberg a star? We do! We do! Who robs cavefish of their sight? Who rigs every Oscar night? We do! We do!
  8. At our worst we can get swept by the Royals too And if we're lucky, maybe by the Pirates. I sure hope this BandWGN didn't cause the Pirates to get swept by the Royals..... If it did, we need one ASAP for the Cards, Reds, Astros, and Brewers.
  9. ESPN.com is blocked where they work?
  10. Any chance we can get three promising young arms for him? I'd be happy with 3 French hens, 2 turtle doves, or a partridge in a pear tree.
  11. What, do you think some third party is gonna yell "ROUND! ONE! ... FIGHT!" like in Street Fighter II? I think people can figure out when a fight is gonna start. Some of you people still don't get what a sucker-punch is. Main Entry: sucker punch Function: transitive verb : to punch (a person) suddenly without warning and often without apparent provocation - sucker punch noun Was there any warning that Barrett might throw a punch? Not unless you consider "I didn't have the ball" to mean "I'm going to hit you". That's quite a stretch. Was there a lack or provocation? Considering that Barrett is a catcher, and that catchers get bowled over on almost a daily basis....... I'd also say it's quite a stretch to say that Barrett was provoked into throwing a punch. Therefore, the shoe fits. What did AJ say to Barrett? I clearly saw his lips moving, but I haven't seen mention of it anywhere.
  12. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Keep hammering these points, Bruce. Maybe, just maybe, it will do a little good.
  13. Guillen. Baker will not be fired. Someday Guillen will.
  14. Floppy McNutsack (Juan P). What a waste. An absolute waste.
  15. Well, not exactly. I would Then you lied:
  16. Madonna is a gay icon, not unlike Cher and Bea Arthur. It's best not to ask. I'll be darned. Seriously, Bea Arthur?
  17. OK, I'm lost -- what does Madonna have to do with any of this?
  18. Actually, based on paper, most prognosticators thought they'd win the division, didn't they? They're about where I expected them to be right now, actually. I know they'd have rough stretches. I don't think the prediction to win the central was based on their pitching. To me, it was more an indictment of the rest of the division.
  19. seriously, do you think the Cardinals would just keep right on rolling without Pujols? hard to maintain with a hole concerning the likes of a Lee or Pujols. Those guys are amazing talents and the absence is gonna be felt. But the Cardinals have maintained.
  20. I would say, at this point, the unexpected future would be one that includes EPatt as the starting 2B in 2008. He's not exactly lighting it up in AA (760 OPS). Setbacks for prospects can never be considered unexpected, especially the non-elite type of prospect. I'd make moves assuming Patterson won't be good enough to earn the job. And if he makes it, that's just icing. I don't disagree with that. However, there are plenty of positions where upgrades are necessary and moving Dempster should be done with those positions in mind. Walker doesn't appear to be going anywhere this season, and there are other options for 2B next season and beyond that are just as good as Marcus Giles.
  21. They sucked on paper. They had a good couple of months to start the season. Reality is closing in on them.
  22. Wait, you're a Pirates fan now? And Truffle too? Summuva...
  23. They're just bluffing, trying to get the Yankees to up their ante? Yes, I've been drinking.
  24. Are you kidding me? At least Pedro admitted he picked the WBC because he hates soccer. This is a joke of a question. It is without a doubt the World Cup. Just wait until the knockout stage of the tournament because the fans are going to get even crazier then. And that's the ONLY reason I picked the WBC. World Cup crowds are without a doubt the most intense (electric) crowds I have ever seen at a sporting event. Especially when it's played in Europe. WBC crowds were special (I was in one surrounded by Venezuelans and it was amazing) but nothing compared to the World Cup.
  25. Sittin at 6 too, with Nomar on deck, Corey in the hole.
