  1. Big scary lefties don't scare me. Unleash the beast that is NEIFI!!! My only fear is that Fast Freddie Bynum will see no action. Cubs will lose 11-0 because they're one of the few teams that suck much, much more than the Twins.
  2. My balloons. Those are my balloons. He stole my balloons! Why didn't anyone tell me he had one of those... things? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/13/Jokermovie.jpg/180px-Jokermovie.jpg Random and irrelevant movie quotes are fun.
  3. By future, I'm looking farther ahead than next season. Barring any unexpected setbacks, Patterson has the job in 2008. Walker won't bring us much of anything in a trade, so why not keep him? Ideally, Walker would be back for 1 more season next year, but there are also other options like Belliard out there that can be had on a 1 year deal. My point is, if you're going to trade Dempster, the last thing this franchise needs is someone to play 2B. We already have 4.
  4. Apparently comparing him to anyone is irrelevant.
  5. Why don't you look at some of those other stats, compare them to other pitchers, and then tell me Kerry Wood only had 1 good game? I think a lot of his hype is based solely on that one game. Sure he had some good outings in his career (even Rusch has the occasional good day), but I don't think he is the elite MLB pitcher that his salary suggests. Based on what though? You're still sticking to him only being a 1 hit wonder, and that's not the case. When healthy, Kerry is often fantastic. Compare his 11M to some of the pitchers who signed for around 9-11M this past offseason. His career ERA+ is better than Washburn or Burnett or Millwood or Weaver, and Millwood is the only one of that group with a lower career WHIP.

  8. I saw Jay-Z wearing a Cubs jersey once.
  9. I wasn't talking about Paul Wilson. And check the video, AJ's lips were moving.
  10. I like the idea of Crawford in CF, especially since any deal involving Cabrera will likely include Pie (their CF line is ugly - 220/289/355/644). My only question is, can Cabrera play LF? And if so, does he still want to? I have no problems shopping Aramis for a LF if Cabrera was acquired, but I'd want another big bat like Abreu or Burrell. It's too early for me to do math, but that leaves enough money to sign at least 1 premium FA pitcher.
  11. He's nowhere near the most overpaid when healthy. Injuries were not a concern when the contract was signed, so they should have no bearing on the argument now. You're a fool to believe he's only had 1 good game, and to simply call it a "good" game is ignorant. It was the most dominating pitching performance in the history of baseball (someone else can provide the link). Plus you want to penalize him for being on horrible teams and not getting a high enough number in a stat that's basically worthless in evaluating a pitcher? Give me a break. I wouldn't say accumulating wins as a pitcher is "worthless", but then again we are Cubs fans here so what do we expect. Part of your evaluation of him, as a pitcher, was using his number of wins. That is a worthless stat when evaluating a pitcher.
  12. That's confusing to me. You want to stop the revolving door by bringing in someone for basically 1 year? Why would you want to trade Dempster to fill a position that is already adequately filled and in no real danger of being vacant in the future?

  14. Pratt, Hawkins, Patterson, Hill, Choi...shall I continue? Hawkins and Patterson maybe, but Pratt and Hill were broken before that. Choi wasn't exactly headed for stardom either. Dubois, Remlinger, Farnsworth, Sosa.... Dubois was a AAAA player, Remlinger and Sosa were getting old, and Farnsworth hasn't exactly been ruined -- he's just good every other year.
  15. It's more likely that they'll drop a series and get swept in the next.
  16. Not only do we not have a true backup, they're both playing at the same time.

  18. Uh, there won't be any money. But when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.
  19. I vote WBC only because I REALLY hate soccer.
  20. Hmm, I clicked on your link, but all I see is this: "You are not authorized to access the Premium Interface. Click here to return to the regular UI" Do something about that.
  21. B/c he's very negative about the White Sox. Their fans hate his guts. On whitesoxinteractive.com, any thread about his news is marked as spam and labeled, "latest nonsense from media troll Moronotti." I was under the impression that Sox fans hated Mariotti a tad less than Cubs fans seem to, but that was clearly mistaken. Everyone hates Mariotti. How else can you explain Kellerman leaving for FSN?
  22. I know -- I.... feel.... dirty....
  23. Miguel is tearing it up -- 380/427/582/1009 with the Jaxx.
  24. Dempster's not that big of a deal to me. I'm fine if he stays or goes. I think his inconsistency of late coincides with the inconsistency in which he is used. His contract isn't too bad, but I'd help him pack if he was needed to get something like Abreu.
