  1. If that's true, the man should be running the whole friggin' league. that was brian mcrae, i think. Rodney McCray rodney dangerfield. Since I can't make a play on Dangerfield, I'll just point out that it really was Rodney McCray who ran through the wall. Dammit, no other Dangerfields?

  3. Fox at Daytona: 313/383/574 Fox at West Tenn: 222/263/389 (it's only been 11 games though)
  4. Any chance we'll see him moved up in the near future especially with Montanez and Pie struggling in Des Moines? He is on fire. 373/418/545/963
  5. That's a tough question. Dusty has no concept of how to fill out a lineup that will put his team in the best position to succeed. He cannot seem to figure out that if you're going to give one of your best offensive performers a day off, it's best not to give them all that same day off especially when one of your higher ERA pitchers is starting. Even with a deep bullpen, he leaves his starters in too long. Even with that same deep bullpen, he overuses them while others get no action. Hendry gets votes for adding players like Neifi and Rusch when already relying on unprovens such as Murton and Cedeno on a daily basis. He brings in players who are declining (Pierre/Jones) and not very good overall while never seriously entering in the bidding for premium FAs because we already have dead weight under contract at that position. Instead of having some vision when building his teams, he tries to copy what last year's flash-in-the-pan team did with ugly results. Man, this post could go on all day.
  6. MacPhail has been president since 1994. He took over the GM duties in 2000 when Ed Lynch left, and served as GM until this date in 2002 when Hendry was promoted.
  7. Wow. I'm sure it has nothing to do with greater talent. Does this "heart" take ballplayers who are inadequate and put them in the top 10 of most major categories? The Tigers are doing a lot because they are better. They've added better players. Players who can pitch, run bases, and hit.
  8. No, there really isn't. Our outfield (overall) is pathetic, our infield is average at best, and our pitching is absolutely atrocious. A handful are having down years, but most of what's happened is because we do not have enough talent in those positions. On paper, don't you think we have talent? We never really had a true #5 hitter going into the year, and we knew the team was lacking in power - but we came into the year with a strong closer, bullpen, and pretty good defense. The hitting was improved for the most part (on paper), and the starting pitching, as far as we knew, was going to be above average (Zambrano, Maddux, Wood, Prior, and a few promising rookies contending with Rusch/Williams for the #5 spot). Pierre/Walker/DLee/Ramirez/Jones/Barrett/Murton/Cedeno wasn't the WORST looking lineup pre-season. There is some talent in there. On paper we have some talent, not nearly enough to say that our problems are from a lack of hustle, grit, heart, fire, or anything else. The wrong players, players who range from extremely below average to very poor, are playing key roles with the team. We had an overall weak offensive lineup that included 2 first year players. I think we're performing much worse than we're capable of, but I see that a HUGE part of the problem is that we don't have the talent. I feel OK with a core lineup of Walker/Lee/Ramirez/Barrett, but you need to add at least 1, if not 2, big bats if you want Murton and Cedeno in the lineup.

  10. 12-1 right now. Somebody's a bit delusional.
  11. My son's favorite color is still blue.
  12. Dierker I can somewhat understand, but Johnson's an interesting one. Did he punch someone's kid in the face and none of us know about it? Was he one of the guys on Dateline's To Catch A Predator? It's almost as though nobody knows he exists.
  13. Put down the glue, Scott.
  14. He still doesn't get it. Maybe not some of the times, but he's correct here, so what is he not getting this time exactly? Prior had 2 outs with nobody on base and gave away two runs by walking consecutive batters before a couple of ordinary singles. No walks and likely no runs. later in the game, it was the same story. The problem is the staff continues preaching aggressive hitting, downplaying the base on balls all the while lamenting their fate from giving up too many runs via the base on balls. They continue to foolishly believe that "clutch" two-out hitting is the reason this team is not doing well offensively.
  15. Pardon me for coming to the party late, but Aramis's message is being taken way out of context here. He did not shift blame onto the pitchers -- he was merely pointing out that it is the entire team that is sucking. He's 100% correct. Too much has been made of the offense being horrible (deservedly so), but the pitching staff has been abysmal as well. He wasn't pulling a "prima donna" act or pointing his finger to deflect criticism of himself.
  16. Z goes only if an ARod/Cabrera/Pujols type hitter comes back.
  17. There will be a whole lot of speculation about everyone on a horrible team being available. I don't see this team entering a rebuilding mode, so I doubt either are dealt. A big market team such as the Cubs can afford to hold onto them as they attempt to reload for next year.
  18. Believe it or not, you need to give up. YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE AWAY PIECES THAT DON'T FIT YOUR ARGUMENT TO PRESENT YOUR ARGUMENT. COREY CAN FRIGGIN' BUNT FOR HITS ALREADY. IT'S PART OF HIS GAME, AND HE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES IT. PLENTY OF OTHER PLAYERS HAVE DONE IT -- IT'S BEEN DONE FOR DECADES. FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST, THIS IS THE DUMBEST DEBATE IN THE HISTORY OF STUBBORNNESS.

  20. But if you take away his bunt hits....ah forget it. Not liking it doesn't make it go away corey's numbers aren't the only thing that's true of Sorry for pointing out the truths some people can't/don't want to accept. The only thing that's true is that you're really good at ignoring statistics that disprove your theories.
  21. false. Look at Patterson's numbers when he isn't bunting for a base hit. Awful. What's the point? What does it prove? It proves he has a horrible batting average when you take away his hits. This is the last post I'm going to make on the subject in this thread, but yes, that's it. Plus, OBP and SLG. It's nice of you to finally admit that you're ignoring parts to evaluate the whole in your last post on the subject.
  22. Hafner AND Liriano. Stupid Buehrle and Konerko.
