  1. I hope I don't have to post this in that thread too: Renteria? Yuck.
  2. I refuse get caught up this again, but out of curiousity how can my opinion be wrong? It is afterall an opinion. And just to clarify, it only seemed as if one person was really upset with me. It was a joke. It's a new concept. Sorry, humor/sarcasm doesn't always translate well on the internet. You're wrong, it does too.
  3. upside? tools? makeup? It doesn't matter what kind of makeup they wear. especially if it didn't happen yet When did we start talking about Edmonds anyway? From what I recall, you started quite soon after joining NSBB And from what I recall, he did this Saturday night:
  4. Hester just returned another kick, Bears up on Tampa 10-0.
  5. Not to mention that adding Giles significantly improves our bench as DeRosa takes on that "super" utility role previously held by the likes of Jose Macias and Neifi Perez.
  6. Turns out that Hester kid is kinda good.
  7. Then according to Chris Carpenter's "past performances", http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/carpech01.shtml he would had continue to be a talented, but crappy pitchers. "Past performances" is not the best predictor, because doesn't take into account different variables. I said it was the best, not only. Obviously there can be exceptions, and some can probably be found going the other way.
  8. The best predictor of future performance is past performance.
  9. I'm going to give this guy the benefit of the doubt and assume he's kidding. I think he's serious -- I didn't see  or [/sarcasm] anywhere in his post.
  10. Not exactly true... In those two quotes, you are saying that the Cubs would trade Hill for a turd like OFer and that Hendry doesn't really like Hill. Perhaps I'm missing something, but what point were you trying to make by quoting statements that were in no way contradictory and claiming they were?
  11. Maybe not impressive but I think they are a lot better as a whole then this years. Buerhle/Schilling/Smoltz/Westbrook (4 random pitchers) >> Zito, Schmidt, Meche, Lilly I'm doubtful that Schilling or Smoltz will pitch beyond 2007.
  12. So you're saying Soriano and DeRosa are the right guys in front of the middle of the order? At this stage, I think the Cubs would be best off going with Soriano and Murton at the top. Right guys? Not ideally, but the best of what they have. That's an improvement as far as getting runners on for the heart of the order (moreso w/Murton hitting 2nd than the OBP diff. of Pierre/Soriano). It would help score more runs than say Soriano and a lesser OBP. If Soriano's going to be #1, Murton had better be #2. I don't think it's much of a stretch to think Murton could be around the 380 mark next year.
  13. OVER-RATED Only kidding. Holy crap that man is awesome.
  14. I don't think next year's SPs are all that impressive. Too many in that list are at the very end of their careers.
  15. Fun fact for the day: WilliSC48's arithmetic skills stink. care to give us your take on it then? i believe it's a bit above .320, but i don't think he's far off. If you take away the IBB and keep the total number of PAs, it's still almost 330. But since we're playing that game, we might as well also take away the Ks where he was caught looking and include those as triples.
  16. Marquis wore Nos. 38 and 51 in Atlanta before he took No. 21 in St. Louis. I don't see anything short of a no-limits cage match between Zambrano and Marquis (Zambrano wins by default when Marquis forfeits) over number 38, and I would hope they keep Sammy's 21 unofficially retired for now, so if Marquis wants one of his old numbers, he can take 51 from Mateo. Marquis will wear the number 7¼ to match his 2007 ERA.
  17. Lofton didn't do anything, he was the odd man out. They brought him in because Corey got hurt, and after the first half of 2003, they assumed Corey was the real deal and Lofton was no longer necessary. Kenny wanted the opportunity to play every day. He left on good terms. The reason he's likely not coming back is that he wants about $6M, but the Cubs were wanting him at half that.
  18. Any chance that Miguel is finally realizing his potential and can give Felix a run for his money next year?
  19. They'll get nothing and like it.
  20. I love the feel of real ones, but they don't seem to do well with age. Fake ones seem to maintain their shape and proportion for many, many years. Did you see what I just did there? Did you? I could have been talking about boobs or trees.
