  1. Wow, this thread was totally not about what I thought it would be...
  2. Absolutely not. TJ had a pretty darn good year, but it really pales a bit compared to Alexander, Barber, and Dunn. I'm a bit confused as to why you compared him to Dunn. The only place Warrick did not do better was in TD totals. The only reason for that is they typically bring in Duckett in the red zone (justification for keeping him on the roster, I guess) plus Vick runs a lot of bootlegs inside the 5. I just compared him to Dunn because Alexander and Barber obviously deserve to be there. Not that Dunn doesn't, but thats the only person TJ could replace. Dunn did have a huge year though, and I'm not trying to take anything away from him or his season, I'm just biased, haha. If they had a 4th spot, TJ definitely belongs.
  3. Most frustrating game I've ever been to. They get shut-down by Milton, so I get somewhat excited of watching a no-hitter especially w/the Cubs involved which hasn't happened in 33 years and hasn't happened against the Cubs since Koufax. Then, Glanville botches an easy fly-ball so the no hitter is gone, Cubs get back into the game and Hawkins blows it in the 9th. LaTroy F. Hawkins. Man, I wanted so badly for him to succeed, but all he did was give me chest pains. (I do wish him well now that he's back in the AL)
  4. I'm approaching the point where, unless he is packaged in an extremely lopsided trade that puts us over the top, that I hope he goes somewhere in the NL and absolutely crushes us every time we face him.

  6. You get to a point in any negotiation where you say, "Enough, we've given it our best shot." I wonder how high they would have gone with Jacque. I believe they were high with Jones. http://forums.gigantour.com/images/smilies/hbd.gif
  7. I believe it would be more accurate to say that Damon cut his ties with Boston. They, like the Cubs with Furcal, offered a rather fair amount of money, and another team swooped in and offered a near insane amount over that.
  8. Thanks. And maybe we can still get that big trade. Put a bug in someone's ear on behalf of all of us!
  9. that's exactly what i said. I guess he's been boxing to take the weight off... http://carcass.hp.infoseek.co.jp/prisoner/punchout/round3/king/kingkuchi.gif I think your Willie McGee avatar was better looking. Man, he's fat.
  10. Bruce, Just once I'd like to see you go on for several rant-filled paragraphs like many posters around here. Any chance we can see that?
  11. Why not? Burny was a type A and Nomar a type B. The Cubs didn't offer arbitration to either player, therefore no comp. pick Duh! I knew that.
  12. Corey, right now, is a 3 tool player. He cannot throw, and he most certainly cannot hit.
  13. Beautiful! Matches my location wonderfully.
  14. I'd be offended, but their attempt at humor was actually pretty darned accurate.
  15. Was that an "oops" considering the rosters are not supposed to be officially announced until 4 ET?
  16. You if you can get to Lambeau by this evening.
  17. So he didn't sign? are you talking about corey? i'm guessing olney was talking about a trade. patterson would be crazy to not sign, wouldn't he? Huh?
  18. Sadly, it's beginning to look more like it will be Cedeno/Perez or Perez/Cedeno.
  19. C - Wash 1B - Expect less production, not considerable, but less 2B - Wash if Walker plays, but he won't, so expect less production 3B - Wash SS - Should improve unless Cedeno flops/Neifi plays LF - Murton should provide much better numbers CF - Pierre should bring up the numbers a bit RF - Wash, I expect Jones will almost duplicate Burny's numbers Offensively, I think we are a little better with the potential to be much better if Cedeno is at SS and Walker is at 2B. Defensively we'll be just about the same. Pierre isn't quite a whiz in the field, but he'll definitely make the routine plays. Cedeno was known for his glove before he started hitting, so I'm not worried there. You know what you're getting at C, 1B, and 3B. There may be a slight improvement at 2B. I've heard the knocks on Murton's arm, etc., but it would be a stretch to think he's any worse than any of the elephants on last year's LF carousel. Adding Mabry to and subtracting Macias from the bench also gives this year's team an advantage. The wild card is pitching (huge if coming). IF the rotation can stay healthy, and the bullpen is all it's cracked up to be, this team has an easy chance of winning 90. I don't know if that'll be enough to win the division, but I don't see the Cards, Astros, or Brewers doing that much better.
  20. How did Hendry not lock him up to a long-term deal?
  21. You know, we like you a whole lot better when you stop by to give us good news.
  22. You know why crazy things like this happen for the Cards? Because they make a lot of moves like this and some of them pay off. If a crazy thing "like that" happens I'll eat Sidney's hat. Even with all of that booze in his sweat? You're a brave man.
  23. even hendry wouldn't pay someone 5 mil a year for 3 years to platoon. if he wanted to platoon murton with that type of left handed outfielder he would have done it with patterson For the record, was it 5.33 mil/yr or 3 mil/yr with a 4 mil signing bonus? I thought I read that somewhere last night, but I was trying to muddle through some tears. Anywho, that's a big difference when responding to that last statement of yours..
