  1. No love for Kenny? I'm happy to see him still playing and producing, wherever that is. I've always been a fan of his.
  2. And Macias is hitting .375... with an OBP of .376. He should be so lucky...
  3. CF - Pierre 328/402/455/857 2B - Walker 316/377/502/879 1B - Lee 322/418/583/1001 3B - Ramirez 328/409/585/994 SS - Tejada 316/384/523/907 RF - Green 308/382/516/898 C - Barrett 294/368/495/863 LF - Murton 307/381/501/882 Zambrano - 34 starts, 1.01 WHIP, 2.18 ERA Prior - 34 starts, 1.08, 2.21 ERA Wood - 32 starts, 1.11 WHIP, 2.83 ERA Maddux - 32 starts, 1.18 WHIP, 3.03 ERA Williams - 30 starts, 1.19 WHIP, 3.11 ERA Team goes 118-44, sweeps playoffs and WS Yes, I have been sniffing glue...
  4. I'd take a chance on him. What's the worst that can happen? Oh, that's right, we'd be right where we are now -- hoping to not land in 4th place again.
  5. Career only? Not much to go on, especially when talking about two old guys. Burnitz's slightly younger age does nothing for me. They're both old. Sanders has held up better with age. Outside of Coors Burnitz has been awful for a while. Reggie hasn't exactly been a world beater himself. It really is a sad state of affairs, with the money available this offseason, for people to be campaigning over Reggie Sanders of all people. Reggie sucks, Burny sucks, Jones sucks, Wilson sucks, Patterson sucks -- let's make a splash for crying out loud.
  6. There's a big enough difference in numbers to merit bringing in Sanders over Burnitz. WHERE???
  7. After declining Burnitz's option, we likely could have signed him for that or less (some said $4-5 mil). Burnitz is a bit more valuable than Sanders since he is LH and 2 years younger. The numbers are pretty much a wash. It doesn't make sense to let Burny walk to bring in an older guy to do the same things. Wash?: http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/burnije01.shtml I dunno about that. I do: Sanders: 267/344/491/835 Burnitz: 255/348/485/833

That I am well aware of. I was comparing Sanders to Burny, whom we let walk. It makes no sense to purposefully regress in that position.

  10. Do you say, "Q-tip" instead of cotton swab or "Kleenex" instead of tissue? If I'm not mistaken, zipper was also once just a brand name.
  11. I think Toronto just signed him to a 6 year deal at 414 mil. The Dodgers were offering a paltry 5/340. (man, they're going crazy this year) Wherever he is, I think we all know he's not out spending any money...
  12. The differences with Sosa were: A) everybody knew that regardless of what Hendry said in public, there was no way he was going to be with the team in 2005. I don't think the O's feel they have to trade him this offseason. and B) He was making a ton of money, due for another boatload if traded, and his production was declining at a very alarming rate.
  13. Pie in the minors playing everyday is better than Pie in the majors to "fill the gap" in RF by being Macias' backup 4 or 5 days out of 7. Macias was DFA so thankfully he isn't an option at this point. They could still sign him to a minor league contract and invite him to ST, you know. Ew, I just made myself sick...
  14. The Falcons definitely don't lose much offense with Schaub in the game. They become much more of a passing threat which only helps Dunn and Duckett. With Vick, you can pretty much bank on a short passing game, but his speed has everyone guessing all the time. Schaub will be a starter (and a really good one) for someone within the next 2-3 years.
  15. That's what I always heard. I remember many calling his delivery as close to flawless as you can possibly get and for that reason they thought he would have an extremely long and healthy career.
  16. I'll retire. Winning a WS in '06 would be exactly 1 more WS title than I ever expected to see out of this franchise in my lifetime. My grandfather (huge Cubs fan) passed away a few months ago at 85, and he never saw one. If they win a WS next year, I could care less if they fielded a team of 64 year old women in 2007. I'll always have the memory of 2006.
  17. Falcons by 10
  18. I wish he'd make another Austin Powers movie instead I think Boras is just a puppet. Sounds like this guy's running the negotiations for Damon...
  19. Don't forget that Hendry was after Pierre and Furcal a short time ago. If you have a chance to add an impact player like Ichiro, you jump on it. So what if Ichiro and Pierre are batting 1-2? Seemed like a good idea when it was Furcal and Pierre. This combo looks even better to me.
  20. If by Japan you mean Seattle, then yes. I believe they have an outfielder there I'd really like to see in Cubbie blue...
  21. I'd trade Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds to the Royals for Matt Stairs and Elmer Dessens. Adding a Canadian and a dude named Elmer make that deal too tempting for any team to pass up... :P
